This study analyzed the recognition types of the economic burden for cancer treatment and the characteristics of each recognition type by employing Q methodology. For this study, we determined the final 45 Q statements by conducting literature surveys, internet searches and in-depth interviews. The P samples are 35 people of cancer patients, their family members, and experts. The Q statements were classified according to the forced normal distribution method and the collected data was analyzed using the PC QUANL program. For the analysis results, we extracted four recognition types on the economic burden of cancer treatment, and we named them 'uncertain anxiety', 'acceptance by family burden', 'object to challenge with active response' and 'insurance preparation', depending on their characteristics. The results of this study can be used as a basis for preparing the clinical intervention plan and the policies for cancer patients and the families involved in the fields of medicine, nursing and social welfare.

The stability guarantee of wireless network based control systems is still challenging due to the lossy links and node failures. This paper proposes a hierarchical cluster-based network protocol called robust wireless sensor and actuator network (R-WSAN) by combining time, channel, and space resource diversity. R-WSAN includes a scheduling algorithm to support the network resource allocation and a control task sharing scheme to maintain the control stability of multiple plants. R-WSAN was implemented on a real test-bed using Zolertia RE-Mote embedded hardware platform running the Contiki-NG operating system. Our experimental results demonstrate that R-WSAN provides highly reliable and robust performance against lossy links and node failures. Furthermore, the proposed scheduling algorithm and the task sharing scheme meet the stability requirement of control systems, even if the controller fails to support the control task.

Digital platforms play crucial roles in terms of enabling and sustaining online communities. However, who really benefits from digital platform development, and what are the benefits digital platforms provide for the development of smart communities. This paper explores this question, the goal was to understand the links between digital platforms and smart communities, using the clustering methodology process to have a better understanding of characteristic of each digital platform, Twenty nine digital platforms is clustered and used as a study case. This paper explores how the categorization of digital platform characteristics encourages participation by a smart community, thus improving information and service delivery. On another side, the rise of digital platforms brings new challenges for policy maker to foster a smart community and firms the digital platform also offer benefits to giving effective and efficient service.

The bidding method of public works is decided based on the experience of the officials in charge and the convenience of the work, but the validity of decision making process for the bidding method has not been verified. Another challenge in the bidding method selection is its objective validation is not easy because the decision making is based on experience, when a new type of project is ordered or a new bidding method is applied In this study, therefore, a decision making model to facilitate the selection of a public construction project delivery method was developed and examined with its applicability. This model was developed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process and was verified through 32 persons who were actually in charge of the works. As a result of applying this model, 5 of the 32 persons showed consistency in using the model. and they expressed positive opinions about the model. The model can provide a guide while recognizing the fact that they cannot depend entirely on the model. Therefore, the model proposed in this study is expected to reduce the work-related burden of the persons who are involved in the related work and help the objective performance of their tasks when a new bidding method or project appears in the future.
Demography has grown as an independent academic discipline in Korea during past 30 years by describing and examining changes of population components such as fertility, mortality, migration, and census, and the "Population Association of Korea" stands on the midst of the growth. High fertility of the 1960s and 70s, which was considered as a hurdle of economic growth, particularly boosted the prosper of demography in Korea by inviting a number of non-demographers as well as demographers to population-related research projects. However, as fertility gradually decreases and becomes no-threat anymore beginning the early 1990s, social interests in demography has withered to lose its academic soils in Korea. A recent phenomenon of the lowest low fertility has revived social need and interest in demography. Unfortunately, once curtailed capacity of Korean demography is not sufficient enough to provide academic and/or practical resources now. This research is conducted to cerebrate the 30th anniversary of "Population Association of Korea" and to seek ways to cultivate academic soils again and to rebuild the capacity of demography in Korea. To do this, this research examines the causes of current struggles of Korean demography by comparing its academic environments with that of America, and offers suggestions for its brighter future.
This study touches upon the challenges of globalization, in which terrorism is one of the most brutal forms of criminal violence targeting innocent people. No country is immune from terrorist attacks, and no person is immune from becoming a victim. Interest in this topic is increasing as terrorism, in all its forms and manifestations, in its scale and intensity, and in its inhumanity and cruelty, is now becoming one of the most acute and pressing problems of global importance. Legal regulations passed in Mongolia in 2004 have established a structure to prevent and detect terrorist threats. However, the country's anti-terrorism policy should be improved with respect to its global counter-terrorism strategy. Because Mongolia is a comparatively safe country in the region, the people do not consider terrorism to be a real threat. This study aims to suggest methods to quickly raise awareness and create a security culture to improve Mongolia's long-term terrorism prevention policy. In particular, the authors review Mongolia's anti-terrorism policy, focusing on legal regulations, and suggest education methods to raise terrorism awareness for the public as a primary preventive measure. The study also presents a comparative analysis and a summary conclusion by examining international legal acts, conventions on new manifestations of terrorism, the foundations of laws and regulations of Mongolia, and related research on terrorism.

In this study, a state-of-the-art review on urban inundation simulation technology was presented summarizing major achievements and limitations, and future research recommendations and challenges. More than 160 papers published in major domestic academic journals since the 2000s were analyzed. After analyzing the core themes and contents of the papers, the status of technological development was reviewed according to simulation methodologies such as physically-based and data-driven approaches. In addition, research trends for application purposes and advances in overseas and related fields were analyzed. Since more than 60% of urban inundation research used Storm Water Management Model (SWMM), developing new modeling techniques for detailed physical processes of dual drainage was encouraged. Data-based approaches have become a new status quo in urban inundation modeling. However, given that hydrological extreme data is rare, balanced research development of data and physically-based approaches was recommended. Urban inundation analysis technology, actively combined with new technologies in other fields such as artificial intelligence, IoT, and metaverse, would require continuous support from society and holistic approaches to solve challenges from climate risk and reduce disaster damage.
Importance of pretreatment for seawater desalination is growing rapidly. Proper selection of pretreatment is critical for the successful, long-term operation in the seawater desalination plant such as seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO). The purposes of seawater pretreatment are to remove particulate, colloidal materials, organic, inorganic materials, microorganisms and their by-products present in the seawater, and thus to improve the performance of seawater desalination systems. However, pretreatment is most challenging for designing and operating seawater desalination plants because of fluctuations of water qualities, site specifications and wide ranges of target materials present in the seawater to be treated. In addition, it is also becoming evident increasingly that microscopic algae are a major cause of operational problems, for example, membrane fouling which is long-standing problem in SWRO process. Pretreatment strategies prior to the operation of seawater desalination technologies should be even more complicated by algae blooms and release of their harmful by-products in marine environment. This paper reviews the roles of various pretreatment methods in seawater desalination process. Benefits and drawbacks are described, which should be taken into account in future studies on selecting pretreatment for seawater desalination process.

Visual information understanding is known as one of the most difficult and challenging problems in the realization of machine intelligence. This paper proposes deriving visual verb and construction of ActionNet database as a video database for video semantic understanding. Even though development AI (artificial intelligence) algorithms have contributed to the large part of modern advances in AI technologies, huge amount of database for algorithm development and test plays a great role as well. As the performance of object recognition algorithms in still images are surpassing human's ability, research interests shifting to semantic understanding of video contents. This paper proposes candidates of visual verb requiring in the construction of ActionNet as a learning and test database for video understanding. In order to this, we first investigate verb taxonomy in linguistics, and then propose candidates of visual verb from video description database and frequency of verbs. Based on the derived visual verb candidates, we have defined and constructed ActionNet schema and database. According to expanding usability of ActionNet database on open environment, we expect to contribute in the development of video understanding technologies.
