  • The city such as Tokyo is an instance of maximizing the urban character that is different from other cities by actively utilizing color-scape among elements making identities. On this study, It's focused on Tokyo, developing urban identities, and aim to consider the implication and the feature of urban landscape formation by looking for the background of business and future images of the urban regeneration planning, aims, processes, policies, the color-scape about the landscape formation planning. It's expected to be reference for development of urban regeneration and landscape plan in a long-range view.

A Study for the Change of City Network in China through the Analysis of Railway Network (철도망 분석을 통한 중굴 도시 네트워크의 변화)

  • The purpose of this study is to exhibit the characteristics and changes of city network in China through the analyses railway structures and movement of passengers and goods in China. On the basis of accessibility analysis., central China area shows the highest level of accessibility, and it declines toward periphery areas. The center of City network was transfered from the central area to the east. Three main lines from north to south and the central status of main cities remain unchanged. The city network stratum structure of China can be divided into three levels. The first level is in a pattern of linear distribution within provices along main lines. The second level, shows a pattern of strengthened linear distribution and crossed influencial regions. The third level includes 5 areas.

  • This study explored 'One Book, One City' projects which are being spread in Korea, with the perspective to broaden the horizon of 'Library Movement' and 'Reading Campaign' of Korea. 'One Book, One City' projects have been spread in North America during recent years, and they are reported as successful reading campaign in many communities, Many Korean cities are promoting 'One Book, One City' project diversely. This study examined the meaning and value of the projects, and analyzed the present situation of the projects which are being propelled in some cities of Korea. Finally, this study looked into the special features of Korean 'One Book, One City' projects and provided some suggestions for the ways or strategies to develop the 'One Book, One City projects. which are appropriate for the Korean society.

Limits to the Institutional Formation and Operation for the Network City : A Case Study of Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone (네트워크 도시의 제도적 구성과 운영의 한계 - 대구경북경제자유구역을 사례로 -)

  • The aim of this paper is to explore limits to the institutional formation and operation for network city as a case study of Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone (DGFEZ) in the introductory context. The legal and institutional framework of FEZ in Korea can be characterized by multi-dimensional, vertical or horizontal governance. However, in terms of its implementation process of DGFEZ, the density of the public-private network becomes relatively week, and consequently, the level of participation by local people was not institutionalized in a more collaborative way. With respect to the network city for DGFEZ, while at the initial stage its plan was highly focused upon the conceptual framework of the city, the process of its implementation was based upon a polarization strategy of individual unit and a performance-oriented type. Other evidence for it is that administrative organization in DGFEZ changed from development-based throughout investment attraction-focused up to region-based department. Therefore, there are limits to the institutional formation and operation for the network city in the context of DGFEZ.

Neoliberal Urbanization and Projects of Entrepreneurial City (신자유주의적 도시화와 기업주의 도시 프로젝트)

  • Despite the process of neoliberalization has made a decisive influence on our society as a whole, there seems little interests in neoliberal urbanization and entrepreneurial urban projects promoting it. This study is to see relationships between neolibealization process and recent urbanization and urban policies in terms of entrepreneurial city mediating them. In particular, this paper tries to reconceptualize entrepreneurial city as corresponding to privatization and commodification, financialization, state redistribution, and management and manipulation of crises which Harvey(2005) suggests as four main features of neoliberalization process in general and 'accumulation by dispossession' in particular, and to characterize it in terms of 'creative destruction' and of 'entrepreneurial governance'. As examined in the later part of this paper, recent cases of these entrepreneurial urban projects in S. Korea include volatility of land and housing price in the Capital region and urban regeneration and newtown projects, project for free economic zones construction in Incheon and other 5 regions, project for SOC construction heavily relying on private investment, in particular project financing pursued nationwidely including Daegu, and project of urban cultural marketing to promote capital inflow tacitly as well as to enhance urban imagine explicitly.

  • 도시 중심가를 오가는 전동차의 경우 도시 사이를 운행하는 일반 기존선과는 다른 소음 특성을 가진다. 가장 두드러진 특징으로는 일반 기존선은 주로 디젤기관(디젤전기기관차 포함)에서 얻어지는 추진력을 이용하여 운행되나 도시철도에 사용되는 전동차의 경우는 그 추진력을 공급된 전기에너지에 의해 그 추진력을 얻는 것이다. 따라서 주요한 소음원의 특성도 상이하며, 또한 개활지를 중심으로 운행되는 기존선 열차에 반해 도시 전동차는 주로 터널내부에서 운행되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 도시 전동차의 소음원의 특성에 대해 측정 사례를 중심으로 나타내었다.

  • 본 논문에서는, 서울시 자치구별 공공데이터를 활용한 분석 정보를 통해, 도시가 어떤 구조와 산업으로 형성되었는지 알아본다. 데이터 분석을 통해 얻어진 서울의 특징과 도시(자치구별)의 교통 측면, 상업, 데이터에서 발견한 정보를 통해 도시 특성과 구조를 알아본다. 본 논문에서 연구한 결과는 스마트 도시 정책에 활용하여 도시 기본 설계시 교통, 주거, 상업 등의 효율성을 증대 시키는데 기본 자료로 활용할 수 있다.

  • 도시화는 현대사회의 가장 큰 특징이며 도시가 성장하면서 과거의 기능이 변화하고 도시내부의 공간구조가 점차 기능적으로 분화하는 경향이 있다. 그 중 가장 주목할 만한 것 중의 하나는 주거지역의 입지변화와 공간적 확산과정에서 나타나는 주거지 분화현상이다. 도시생태학자 Hoyt은 주거지 이동패턴에 대하여 도시 내의 주거지분포 패턴을 결정짓는 핵심적인 요인으로 최고지대를 지불할 수 있는 부유층의 주거입지 선택에 따라 전체 도시의 계층별 주거분포가 영향을 받게 된다고 주장하였다. 서울은 소규모로 계획된 역사도시에서 인구 1000만의 대도시로 성장하여 오면서 많은 구조적 변화를 경험하여 현재의 공간구조를 이루게 되었다. 현재 전체 서울의 주택지는 동일한 것이 아니고 각종 주위환경에 따른 성격과 특성을 달리하는 요소로 구성되어 있다. 이 특성을 달리하는 주택지들이 모여서 각기 상이한 역할을 수행하고 서로 기능적 관계를 맺으면서 주택지를 형성하고 있다. 선형이론(Hoyt's Sector theory)에 따르면 고급주택지역의 도시 공간구조에 많은 영향을 미치고 있다고 주장하였다. 그럼에도 불구하고 서울의 고급주택지역의 분포와 그 입지 특성에 관한 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 서울시 고급주택지역의 분포를 형성하는 원인을 규명하는데 있다. 고급주택지의 지역적 분포를 파악하여 그 입지 성향과 특성을 알게 되면 도시의 토지이용계획, 특히 주거지계획에 도움이 될 수 있다.

  • This paper aims to draw essential facts of network city, to analyze the urban corridor in South-East region, Korea, as a network city. Firstly, the characteristics of the network city is examined theoretically. The global economy is developing an innovative class of network cities. A network cities evolve when two or more previously independent cities, potentially complementary in function, strive to cooperate and achieve significant scope economies aided by-fast and reliable transport and communications infrastructure. Network Cities place a higher priority on knowledge-based activities like research, education and the creative arts. Each constituting city stands to benefit from the synergies of interactive growth via reciprocity, knowledge exchange and unexpected creativity. Secondly, we discussed the network structure of cities in South-East region, Korea itself intensively. We survey the network location and outline of the urban corridor in South-East region, spatial specialization and interaction between the constituting cities. We also discussed the problems of the network cities in South-East region, Korea and introduced the desirable policies and alternatives. We can ascertain from the case study of cities in South-East region that the cities in South-East region corresponds the network city model fairly.

The Characteristics of Migration in Gangwon Innovation City and Wonju Company Town (강원혁신도시와 원주기업도시의 인구이동 특성 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze characteristics of Gangwon Innovation City and Wonju Company Town. Both were created with similar purpose, place, time, and scale. However, they were created with different approaches: relocating public institutions and attracting private institutions. For research data, population microdata provided by the National Statistical Office were used. As a result of the analysis, the Gangwon Innovation City and the Wonju Company Town greatly influenced the population growth of Wonju and the movement of the population within Wonju. The influx of population into the study area brought positive changes in both demographic structure and population indices. Excluding relocation to Wonju-si, Innovation Cities and Company Town accounted for more than 50% of those who migrated from the metropolitan area (Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon). The supply of apartment houses (apartments) in the Innovation City and the Company Town stimulated the transfer from the inside of Wonju to this area. For households that moved to Gangwon Innovation City and Wonju Company Town, the most common reasons for moving in were housing, occupation, and family.
