The purpose of this research is to provide suggestions to develop a cooperative preservation and utilization program suitable for domestic circumstances. To accomplish the purpose of this research, an in-depth study was conducted parallel to surveys and focus group interviews. The study found that a high number of KESLI members recognizes the necessity of the cooperative preservation and utilization of print journals. The study also provides suggestions for the successful development and operation of the cooperative preservation center for print journals-the development of councils, the ownership of journals, the scope of journals to be collected, and the form of the national preservation center. The results of the study will be utilized as the model for the cooperative preservation and utilization of print journals suitable for Korean circumstances.

The CORBA presents the method of integrating heterogeneous systems in the distributed environment. In recent, many existing information retrieval servers with Z19.50 protocol have been developed and used in the libraries and companies, etc. The servers construct each database and provide users with various information services. In this paper, we design and implement a Z39.50 server that supports various Z39.50 protocol services over the existing servers. We also integrate various database engines and the Z39.50 server using CORBA. Our Z39.50 server basically provides the init service, the search service, and the close service. In addition, it supports the scan service browsing a term list, the segment service presenting large records, and the explain facility explaining the implementation information of the server.

This study is to examine the several basic wooden movable types molded in after the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592. The description begins with summarizing each basic history of movable types. The parts that have not been clearly defined are relatively dealt with in detail. Subsequently the existing movable types are examined as many as possible and arranged one by one. And through analyzing the elements used in these movable type names, it is examined which elements were preferred by the existing movable type names. This preference could be helpful for naming the newly found types or renaming the existing types. Next each standard name of movable types has been selected in total 10 movable types with applying writer's own selection standard. Those are as follows: 'Moongyepak mokwhalja(文繼朴木活字)', 'Naju mokwhalja(羅州木活字)', 'Chunki kyosoekwan pilseocheja(前期校書館筆書體字)', Injosillokja(仁祖實錄字)', 'Hyojongsilokja(孝宗實錄字)', 'Huki kyosoekwan pilseocheja(後期校書館業書體字)', 'Koansanggam seomyeong daeja(觀象監 書名大字)', 'Kyeongsejeongeumja(經書正音字)', 'Panghongmujeongwon daeja(倣洪武正韻大字)', 'Seomgaemuninlok daeja(剡溪門人錄大宇)'.

The purpose of this study is to discover the mobile-based information behaviors of the older adults with comparison of the college students and then to provide some fundamental ideas of the bridging digital devide for them. For this aims, data were collected from seniors and college students living in Daegu and Kyung-buk province via a self-designed questionnaire, and the data of 375 seniors and 323 college students were analysed with $x^2$ and t-test using SPSS. It revealed that the economic condition did not influence in the possession of mobile devices, and for leisure was most favorite activity in both groups. However, the college student group suggested the supply of free or low price mobile device; whereas the older adults group suggested the spread of education of mobile device usage would be the most important matter for bridging the digital devide. Various results of the study were presented with tables and figures in this paper.

The objective of this study was to investigate and analyze the problems on 'System for Author's Property Right Limitation' in the North Korean Copyright Law. The NK Copyright Law had applied the international standards superficially, it may not be considered to get out of the grand frame of NK system. Especially, it is different that there is lack or short of contents on transfer, disposition, succession, trust, and so on for Author's Property Right. For example, free usages of Literary Works upon the NK law of Author's Property Right were described as 9 cases including copy and translation for personal purpose; copy in the library, etc. However, there are many insufficient items in view of international standards among the cases, showing omissions of critical terminology such as publications of literary works, purpose of usage, scope of usage, etc. Therefore, the NK law of Author's Property Right is interpreted not to be satisfied with the requirements for the law of Author's Property Right but to be legalized in terms of external announcement, and it seems not to be considered as the Author's Property Right Law with general standards enough to demonstrate the creativity freely.

As a type of humanities discipline, information user studies tend to have influence and applicability on the related research fields. However, research trends and status of the user studies in Korea have not been extensively explored and thus resulted in limited sharing of the research outcomes. In this research, all papers related to the information user studies were selected from 5,392 articles reported in the five Korean Library and Information Science Journals. The chosen papers were classified according to the subject categories then qualitatively analyzed in terms of research productivity and trends. Library was the main theme of the information user studies. A number of suggestions were generated to apply the information user studies outcomes in solving academic as well as wider societal problems.

The aim of this paper is to evaluate the text of six alternative versions of Korean fairy tale The Sun and the Moon. So the author took a textual bibliographical study of those versions in a comparative analysis of titles, backgrounds, characters. styles and functions of them. On the basis of this comparative analysis, the version of Hyo-Sun Eu was selected as a good text. In the version of Hyo-Sun Eu. if the helper In the story, King of Heaven represented in the form of Taoism would change into Heaven represented in the form of God, and the literary style change into the colloquial style, and the last scene that the Sun Brother turns to the Sun Sister and the Moon Sister to the Moon Brother would be removed, this version will be the best one.

This study was conducted upon the premise that index terms display the intellectual structure of a specific subject field. In this study, and attempt was made to grasp the intellectual structure of Library and Information. Science by clustering the index terms of the journals of the related academic societies at the Library of National Assembly - such as the Journal of the Korean Society for Information Management, the Journal of the Korean Library and Information Science Society, and the Journal of the Korean Society for Library and Information Science. Through the course of the study, index term clusters were generated based on the linkage of the index terms and the frequency of co-occurrence, and moreover, time periods analysis was conducted along with studies on first-appearing terms, in order to clarify the trend and development process of the Library and Information Science. This study also analysed the difference between two intellectual structure by comparing the structure generated by index term clusters with the existing structure of traditional classification systems.

In this study, we suggested a data structure for the management of human libraries based on the analysis of the significant components for systematically managing and operating the human library service. At first, we proposed the components of human library metadata set which are 'Human Resource', 'Human Resource', 'Librarian', 'Volunteer', and 'User'. And this study verified the meta concepts of metadata set such as 'Human Library', 'Human Book' and 'User', developed the metadata set for human library using the meta concepts. To check the validity of the metadata set and to improve its usability, we created and published a XML document including the metadata structure and link between the meta concepts. In conclusion, this study provided the possibility that the library could develop the service recommended human book to user through user profile.

The objective of this study is to examine the correlation of reading quantities in different developmental phases and various media(magazines, books, comic books). I surveyed reading quantifies in developmental periods, by questionnaires. As a methodology of empirical study, data was collected from 187 students at the Chonbuk National University. Statistical techniques of a Pearson Correlation Test were employed according to my hypotheses. The results of this survey are as follows: 1) reading quantities of general book of specific period is correlated with general book reading quantities of specific period. 2) reading quantities of magazine of specific period is correlated with magazine reading quantities of other period 3) reading quantities of comic book of specific period is correlated with comic book reading quantities of other period 4) correlation among reading quantity of middle school period and high school period is high.
