This study analyzed the use of the phenomenological method proposed by Colaizzi (1978) in order to understand the meaning of block system class experiences in nursing students. Furthermore, this study provides primal data to improve curriculum efficiency. The data were collected from 18 participants who were students at a nursing university in the city of G from 20th of June to 10th of July 2015. This study investigated nursing student's block system class experience. The study results show six theme clusters consisting of 'Discomfort', 'Unsystematic study', 'Holding back an urge', 'Ever intensifying relationship', 'New discovery', and 'Chance for development', 17 themes, and 42 sub themes, which are included in those clusters in 58 configured meanings. This demonstrates that nursing students could reestablish their resolve for personal betterment and realize the importance of managing time by finishing the procedure with their best efforts although they suffer from physical and psychological inconvenience due to massive amounts of learning and assignment. These results indicate the need for development of stress management and an emotional support program based on the experience of nursing students.
For the purpose of examining the relationship between smoking, perceived stress and vulnerability factors, and furthermore suggesting interventions to reduce excessive smoking and prevent nicotine dependency effectively, the questionnaires of perceived stress(stressful experiences), ways of stress coping(passive and active copings), smoking motives, social influence, age, amounts of smoking, and nicotine dependency were administered to smokers among medical students in Chosun university(n=186). 1) As a result of classifying smokers by the types of smoking, the most was a type of smokers to reduce negative emotions and the next in order were addictive smokers, smoker for stimulation, smoker for pleasure, etc. 2) The effects of motive, age, and active coping style were significant, but the effects of perceived stress, passive coping style, and social influence were not significant in average amount of daily smoking. 3) The effects of motive, social influence, and age were significant, but the effects of perceived stress, passive and active coping styles were not significant in the degree of nicotine dependency. To summarize, it is concluded that there were a lot of people who smoke to solve negative emotions, but the direct effects of perceived stress and passive coping style on both average amounts of daily smoking and the degree of nicotine dependency were not significant. On the other hand, motive, age, active coping style, and social influence were proved to be more important variables than the others in explaining college students' smoking.
This study was performed to investigate the degree of different stresses and to search the influence of food habit and nutrient intakes at stress situation in university students and secondary school teachers. The data was collected by questionnaire method and searched nutrient intakes by 24 hours recall. The subjects were 282 students and 152 high school teacher in Kyunggi do. Physical status was no difference with two groups. Energy intake of teachers was lower than that of students, but the intakes of vitamin A and C were high in teachers' group. The university students had more stress situation than teachers in almost kind of stresses except overload stress. Self-diagnosed dietary habits were better in the group of teacher. Especially smoke and alcohol drink behavior were correlated with nutrient intakes in male teachers and students. The quantity of nutrient of nutrient intakes was correlated with different kind of stress. The stress of life event was correlated with the intakes of carbohydrate, minerals, thiamin and riboflavin, and the deprivation was with iron and vitamin A in teachers' group. The intake of almost nutrients was correlated with the stress of noise in students' group. By the analysis of stepwise multiple regression, although the $R^2$ values were very low, vitamin C intake was influenced in the factor at the stress of life events($R^2$=0.025), self-efface($R^2$=0.030) and noise($R^2$=0.020), thiamin was at food induced stress ($R^2$=0.021) and vitamin A was at the stress of type A behavior($R^2$=0.022) and anxiety response($R^2$=0.014). Therefore, we could concluded that different kind of stresses were influenced in dietary behavior and nutrient intakes. More research would be needed at the aspects of health promotion in the stressful situation of modern society.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of job-seeking stress, career decision-making self-efficacy and self-esteem on subjective happiness of university students. Methods: The participants were 281 university students in D city. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 19.0 using one-way ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression. Results: Subjective happiness showed positive association with career decision-making self-efficacy, self-esteem and negative association with job-seeking stress. Factors that had an influence on subjective happiness were monthly family income (less than two million won ${\beta}$=-.263, p<.001, between two million won and four million won ${\beta}$=-.207, p<.001), major satisfaction (very unsatisfied ${\beta}$=-.221, p<.001, satisfied ${\beta}$=.161, p=.003), gender (female ${\beta}$=-.154, p=.005), subjective health (unhealthy ${\beta}$=-.134, p=.013), and school year (sophomore ${\beta}$=-.123, p=.024). These factors explained 22.6% of the variance in their subjective happiness. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that more positive career decision-making self-efficacy, self-esteem and more negative job-seeking stress were needed for their subjective happiness. This study also indicated that economic status, major satisfaction, gender, and subjective health were very important in predicting their subjective happiness. Thus, to improve their happiness, it would be necessary to consider both intrinsic factors such as major satisfaction and extrinsic factors such as general characteristics.

The purpose of this study is to find out the difference of sense of self-efficacy and stress encountering strategy of university students under the stress situation depending on the smart-phone user group (addiction group, general user group). For this purpose, the study issues are established as follows. First, it has analyzed what is the correlation of smart-phone addiction, sense of self-efficacy, and stress encountering strategy. Second, it has studied if there is any difference of sense of self-efficacy and stress encountering strategy for the smart-phone user group. In order to verify such study issues, For 1,670 university students in the Chungcheong area, smart-phone addiction scale, sense of self-efficacy scale, and stress encountering method scale were administered. Looking into the study result, first, as a result of the relativity analysis, it displayed the correlation of preference of test difficulty, self-control efficacy and important negative from the smart-phone addiction and sense of self-efficacy. In addition, all sub-variables of smart-phone addiction and avoidance orientation from the stress encountering strategy displayed the important positive correlation, and from the smart-phone addiction, the virtual world orientation and pursuit of social-support displayed the important negative correlations, and all sub-variables (interference with ordinary living, virtual world striving direction, withdrawal, resistance) of smart-phone addiction and problem solving-orientation displayed the negative correlation. Second, as a result of verification for the difference of the smart-phone addiction group and general use group following the sense of self-efficacy, the general use group is shown to have higher self-control efficacy sense than the addiction group. And third, as a result of verifying the difference of stress encountering following the smart-phone addiction group and general use group, the addiction group is shown to be lower than the general use group in terms of social support pursuit and problem solution orientation with the avoidance orientation shown to be higher. This type of result is expected to provide the base data when developing the smart-phone addiction preventive education program by finding out in details for the characteristics of smart-phone addiction group for university students.
The purpose of this study is the examination of stress levels and the eating habits that are affected by stress, and the provision of basic nutritional education data for the improvement of the eating habits of students who have experienced stress-related nutritional problems. Using the BEPSI-K instruments, a questionnaire survey was administered to 327 student subjects (166 male and 161 female) in the areas of Seoul and Gangwon province. The subjects were classified into 3 groups (low-stress, medium-stress and high-stress), and 59 students (18%) belonged the high-stress group. The BMI readings of the Gangwon province students are significantly higher than those of the Seoul students. The survey results show that the lunch frequency and vegetable intake levels are lower in the high-stress group, whereas the intakes of hot spicy food is higher in this group; they also show that Gangwon province students had eating habits that are relatively undesirable compared with the Seoul students. There are significant differences between the Seoul students and Gangwon porvince students regarding residence type, household economic level, types of leisure activities and level of some stresses. The Gangwon province students ate occasionally breakfast, lunch and snacks, but their midnight snack consumption is relatively frequent compared with the Seoul students. The results of the survey indicate that the BEPSI-K score has a negative correlation with the following variables : sleeping time, economic level of household, degrees of satisfaction regarding appearance and academic achievements, lunch frequency and vegetable intakes. Desirable eating habits are essential for the maintenance of a favorable health status and for the stress-management of university students who need to be a healthy members of society in the near future. To facilitate the formation of desirable eating habits among university students, community-based nutritional assistance and appropriate nutritional education programs should be considered necessary.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate self esteem and stress of students at their universities for the development of a program related to school life and guidance. Methods: The survey were carried out in 5 universities located in Gyounggi Do, Gyungbuk Do, Busan city and Daegu city from 2014. October 1. to November 30. Out of a total of 500 Questionnaires answered by 500 students, 489 Questionnaires, were analyzed with SPSS version 12.0. Results: The total mean of the self esteem point of college student's school living was $3.41{\pm}0.44$ points. The total mean of the general stress point of college students was $2.67{\pm}0.52$ points. Affecting factors of the self-esteem of subjects(multiple regression analysis) were important things of school living(p<0.05), human and friendship(p<0.05), protector's job(p<0.001), home economic states(p<0.001), and friendship(p<0.001). Based on multiple regression analysis, affecting factors of the stress of subjects were important things of school living(p<0.05), human and friendship(p<0.05), religion(p<0.001), protector's job(p<0.001), friendship(p<0.001), and arbeit job(p<0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study help to provide a basis for development of a strategy to improve the self-esteem and solve problems of stress for university students. Also relevant programs should be developed and provided by related authorities and universities.

Elevated plasma concentration of total homocysteine (ptHcy) is known as an independent risk factor of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and oxidative stress is also commonly implicated in CVD. An association between ptHcy and oxidative stress has recently been suggested. The study objective is to examine the relationship between ptHcy and oxidative stress markers in 103 healthy college students (62 males and 41 females). Plasma levels of ptHcy, oxidative stress markers (conjugated diene, erythrocyte catalase, TRAP, lymphocyte DNA damage), antioxidant vitamins ($\alpha$-tocopherol, $\gamma$-tocopherol, carotenoids), and lipid parameters (total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL cholesterol) were determined. The results show that the concentration of ptHcy was significantly higher in male subjects ($22.17\;{\pm}\;2.14\;{\mu}mole/L$) than in female subjects ($12.28\;{\pm}\;0.45\;{\mu}mole/L$). There was a negative association between ptHcy and plasma ${\beta}$-carotene in male subjects (p $lt; 0.05), but no correlation between ptHcy and other plasma antioxidant vitamin levels in either gender. However, there were the negative correlations between ptHcy and plasma ${\alpha}$-carotene or ${\beta}$-carotene, and a positive correlation between ptHcy and lymphocyte DNA damage. A significantly low level of ${\alpha}$-carotene or ${\beta}$-carotene was found in male subjects with elevated ptHcy (${\geq}\;15\;{\mu}mol/L$), as compared to those with lower plasma homocysteine. These study results confirmed the views on the association between plasma homocysteine and oxidative stress markers in humans and support the hypothesis that homocysteine promotes the oxidative environment by counteracting the antioxidant defense mechanism.

This study selected 390 students attending the three-year curriculum departments of G college in G metropolitan city including emergency medical technology, physical therapy and health administration randomly as the subjects of the research. The research was conducted from June 4 to 6, 2012 with structured self-administered questionnaire, 366 responses were used for final analysis. Data collected were analyzed with SPSS WIN(Statistical Package for Social Science Windows) 12.0 program and all tests were verified at the significance level of 0.05. As a result of the research, it was found that interaction effects between depression from suicidal ideation and social support showed negative correlation and it was statistically significant. Consequently, it was confirmed that social support had control effects in the relationship between depression and suicidal ideation. Therefore, the development and application of individual and group counseling and regular education program to prevent suicide and increase self-esteem are required, practical education program should be conducted and studies showing its results and effects are also needed.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of 'affirmative language' experiment upon freshmen nursing students' negative affect, self-efficacy and stress coping style. Methods: A nonequivalent control quasi-experiment was conducted on the subjects of 55 freshmen nursing students for 26(experimental group) and 29(control group). Data were analyzed using x2-test and t-test for participants' homogeneity test and conducted content analysis of process diary record and personal impressions. Results: As for negative affect, in case of the experimental group, depression(t=-2.384, p=.022) and anxiety(t=-2.243, p=.025) were significantly low with no difference for the control group. As for self-efficacy, both experimental and control groups showed significance and as for stress coping style, the control group used sub-categorized strategies better than the experimental group. There were 4 topics and subsequent 15 topics derived from the content analysis. 'Affirmative language' experiment showed alleviation of depression and anxiety helpful for study participants in self-reporting measurement, and helpful for stress self-management competence. Conclusion: It is necessary to connect the curriculum operation with interest of competence and practice of students stress self-management through the participating experiment experience.
