The aim of this study is to compare and analyse the evaluation or performance indicators for academic libraries suggested at domestic and foreign. For the study, evaluation indicators of the various evaluation models(IFLA, ISO, ALA/ACRL, LA, HEFCE, CERLIM, JUAA, UNICOOP. KLA) was analysized. Evaluation or performance indicators should shed light on inputs and outputs of resource, levels of demand and satisfaction, the library effectiveness, and operating efficiency. There is a great deal of work going on at present, but as yet there is no greed set of indicators that can be across all academic libraries. Therefore, new evaluation indicators for physical and electronic libraries should be developed.

This study provides an overview of the accreditation landscape in Korea, and identifies some problems in the current accrediting review program which assesses the library's achievements These are as follows: (1) The weight given to the library sector is insufficient. (2) There are no indicators to appraise the achiement of the informational and educational functions of academic libraries (3) It is completely devoted to input indicators, but not process or output indicators (4) It is impossible to evaluate the quality os library services. (5) The units of statistics are not standardised. Some alternative measures and indicators are proposed to evaluate the performances of academic libraries' services. It is suggested that an official draft should be prepared by Korean academic librarians to amend the library sector of current accrediting review program.

The purpose of this study is to provide directions for more effective and efficient service for library user by evaluating and analyzing library service access points on university library homepages. 69 national/public and private university libraries throughout the country are selected by stratified sampling method. The items used for evaluation are composed of 4 areas and 23 questions, and SPSS 12.0 is used for statistical analysis. The results are elicited through the hypothesis testing, and some suggestions are made for the effective university library homepage service.

Evaluation of an academic library is a key to its success. Library and Information Policy Bureau of the President of the Republic of Korea conducted a trial evaluation on academic libraries with a university evaluation index developed by KERIS in 2005. The committee decided to review its feasibility based on the feedbacks from the academic libraries after the trial. This study aims to address the indexing issues appeared during the trial and suggest a new evaluation index tailored to academic libraries. First, the evaluation field is condensed from 7 to 6 as "financing" and "infrastructure" are integrated into "budget and infrastructure." Secondly, both "user charter" and "planning" are removed from the "library management" field category. and "library self-assessment" is added instead. In "information resource" field, "non-books and etc." is added. Third, evaluation categories for "budget and infrastructure" field are altered to budget-related items and library equipment. Forth, "collection turnover rate" category is incorporated into "collection usage" in "information usage" field, and "library use rate" in "information service" field is moved to "information resource" field and renamed as "use rate."

There is a close relationship between indicators of statistics and performance measurement in international standards, working sections and the data items similarity in academic libraries. However, this co-relationship between statistics and measuring performance in the Korean academic library is not related to each other in terms of designing or usage. In order to prove this, the co-relationship between indicators of statistics and performance measurement has been researched based on applications of international standards and data. The international result shows 45% of overlapping in statistical and measuring performance indicators. However, there is only 14 to 26% of the co-relationship in existing statistics and performance measurement in Korea. A considerable improvement of the co-relationship between the indicators has newly been found. Therefore, in developing online system of academic library statistics, it is essential to provideinclusive information between indications of statistics and performance measurements.

This research aims to explore faculty research support systems in university libraries, assess their service performance for faculty research, and suggest the need and roadmap for new service development. We perform in-depth analyses of not only the current university library evaluation criteria as part of the overall university evaluation criteria, but also ten university libraries in the United States and two university libraries in Korea. Thorough benchmarking studies reveal the problems of the current university library evaluation criteria in its advances and limitations of current faculty support service systems. Especially this research suggests to develop a one-stop service execution wheel for the roadmap for the faculty research support system which is based on customer relationship management(CRM) for one-to-one, mass-personalized services to the faculty.

인터넷과 디지털 환경은 지금까지 운영되어 왔던 학술정보시스템에 대한 재검토를 요구하고 있다. 도서관 운영에 있어서도 새로운 정보환경과 매체의 발전으로 인하여 자료의 수집에서 서비스 정보에 이르기까지 변화된 정보환경에 부합하는 평가모형의 개발을 요하고 있다. 따라서 새로운 정보환경과 매체 변화에 적합한 도서관의 운영과 서비스를 창출하기 위하여 국내외의 평가기준을 분석하여 디지털 환경에 적합한 대학도서관의 평가 항목과 평과 지표를 제안하고자 한다.
