Commercial pasteurization of foods using high voltage pulsed electric fields treatment (고전압 펄스 전기장을 이용한 식품의 상업적 살균)

  • High voltage pulsed electric field technology has been attracting attention in the the food industry as an eco-friendly nonthermal process technology using electrical energy. The lack of understanding of the equipment and the burden of equipment cost have not significantly increased the commercial application, but the potential as a technology to replace the heat process has been continuously increased. Sterilization of foods using the PEF process has been applied to liquid foods with low viscosity such as fruit and vegetable juices, but recently, high viscosity smoothies, high concentrate protein drink, mixed juice, and alcoholic beverages. Studies on sterilization of solid foods such as powders, raw meats are also being conducted. Also, the application of extraction and recovery of useful ingredients, activation of active compounds, pretreatment of drying, improvement of meat quality, changes of properties of starch has been studies.

  • Recently the wind energy has been alternatively used as a renewable energy resource instead of the mostly used fossil fuel due to its lack and environmental issues. This work is to propose a structural design and analysis procedure for development of the 500W class small wind turbine system which will be applicable to relatively low speed region like Korea and for the domestic use. The wind turbine blade was performed structural analysis including stress, deformation, buckling, vibration and fatigue. In addition, the blade should be safe from the impact damage due to FOD(Foreign Object Damage) including the bird strike. MSC.Dytran was used in order to analyze the bird strike penomena on the blade, and the applied method Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian was evaluated by comparison with the previous study results. Finally, the structural test was carried out and its test results were compared with the estimated results for evaluation of the designed structure.

Accelerometry of Upper Extremity During Activities of Daily Living in Healthy Adults (정상인에서 일상생활활동 수행시 상지의 가속도 분석)

  • Objective : The objectives of this study were to compare the variables from Fitmeter accelerometer with them from CMS-70P(Zebris Medizintechnik Gmbh, Germany) and to suggest the availability the accelerometer in the field of occupational therapy. Methods : Twenty participants performed calling, drinking water, washing face and spooning and we measured Sum of Single Vector Magnitude(SSVM) and range of motion(ROM) on the wrist and elbow joints. Results :With respect to the wrist and elbow joints, SSVM and ROM differed significantly according to the task(calling, drinking water, washing face and spooning)(p<.001; p<.001; p<.001; p<.001). As for the wrist joint, SSVM and ROM did not show the significant correlation(p>.05) but as for the elbow joint, SSVM and ROM did show the significant correlation according to the task(p<.01; p<.001; p<.01; p<.05). With regard to the SVM-difference of wrist and elbow joints, calling and washing showed the significant difference (p<.001; p<.05) but drinking and spooning did not show the significant difference(p>.05; p>.05). Conclusion : We suggest that Fitmeter accelerometer would be use to record the kinematic variables during performance of ADL and it can compensate the function of CMS-70P as for the elbow joint than the wrist joint.

A Research on the Perception Level of Seafarer Related Organizations in Seafarer's Actual Health Care Conditions (선원유관단체의 선원 보건의료실태 인식도 조사)

  • This research was conducted to provide an improvement plan concerning medical treatment on board and medical health care conditions for seafarers. 139 persons from government agencies and seafarer related organizations, who could influence the government's seafarers healthcare policy-making, were asked to fill in the questionnaire prepared for this research about their perceptive views on actual condition of health and disease management for seafarers. The results of the survey on seafarer's health care management conditions(p<0.01), health care manage ability(p<0.01), current radio emergency medical service policy(p<0.01), usefulness of on board medicine chest and medical equipment(p<0.05), and the system of the onboard medical care persons show the difference of perception level among the seafarer related organizations. But generally, the rate of negative responses was high. And this research suggests that there is an urgent need to provide portable health measurement equipment on board, reenforce regular medical examination and establish the seafarer's health promotion center for telemedicine and healthcare management(p<0.01) in order to improve the onboard medical treatment support system for healthcare of seafarers.

  • The plate loading test(PLT) and the field density test are mainly used on the construction of embankments to control the compaction of a limited layer thickness. These two test methods are very time consuming and inefficient, but they are still commonly used as the methods of quality control for soil compaction. In the last 3 decades, many devices such as geogauge, light falling weight deflectometer(LFWD) and dynamic cone penetrometer(DCP) etc., have been introduced into the engineering market with the objective of acquiring in situ stiffness properties of the compacted soil layers. Recently, a new type of sensor, called compactometer, which in mounted on the drum of a roller and measures impact forces continuously with GPS, called as Continuous Compaction Control(CCC), has come into use in many countries such as America, Germany, Japan and so on. The main objective of this paper is to assess the potential use of these new devices as quality control and assurance devices for compacted soil layers. Based on this study, compactometer and the LFWD results werestrongly correlated with the result obtained from the PLT and the field density test.

  • 일반적으로 건물 구조물에 전달되는 기계진동을 감소시키기 위해서 기계와 기초사이에 유연한 방진소자를 삽입하여 기계가진력(exciting force)의 전달 률을 줄인다. 또한 구조물의 고유진동수와 진동원의 가진주파수가 일치할 경 우, 가진주파수를 변화시키거나, 구조물의 동특성을 변화시키는 방법을 사용 한다. 어떠한 방안을 선택하든 효과적이고 정량적인 방진 시스템을 구성하고 구조물의 정확한 진동상태를 예측하기 위해서는 진동원의 가진특성과 구조 물의 동특성에 대한 정보가 요구된다. 일반적으로 방진설계를 위해 필요한 진동원의 가진특성은 제조회사의 사양이나 측정을 통하여 비교적 쉽게 얻을 수 있다. 복합재료, 다양한 경계조건, 복잡한 대형구조물등은 수치해석을 이 용하여 해석적인 방법으로 동특성을 구할 경우, 신뢰성 있는 정보를 얻기에 는 많은 노력이 요구된다. 더우기 현장에서 발생하는 진동문제는 대부분 복 잡하고 시간적으로 시급히 해결해야 하기 때문에 효율적인 절차를 구성하여 구조물의 동특성을 해석하는 방법을 사용할 필요가 있다. 구조물의 동특성은 실험적인 방법을 통하여 구하고 그 외의 필요한 계산들은 해석을 통하여 얻 는 것이 효율적일 수 있다. 실험적 동특성해석은 입력하중에 대한 응답의 크 기와 위상 비를 주파수별로 나타내는 전달함수를 측정하는 방법으로서 가진 장치 및 여러 측정/분석 장비가 필요하며, 철교, 교량, 건물의 철골 및 콘크 리트 슬라브등 다양한 중대형의 구조물을 Signal/Noise비가 좋도록 가진 시 켜야 할 필요성이 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 실험적 방법의 현장 적응성과 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해 대형충격기(large impact hammer, max, peak force 약 10000N, time duration 약 20ms)를 제작하고 실험/분석 시스템 및 구조물 의 진동제어를 위한 절차를 Fig.1과 같이 구성하고 이를 철근콘크리트 건물 에 설치한 기계식 주차설비의 진동제어에 적용하였다.force response simulation)를 수행하여 임의의 좌표 공간에 대한 진동수준을 해석적으로 예측할 뿐만 아니라 구조물의 진동제어 를 위한 동적인자를 변경시킬 수 있는 정보를 제공하며 장비를 방진할 경우 신뢰성 있는 전달률을 결정할 수 있다. 실험적으로 철교, 교량이나 건물의 철골구조 및 2층 바닥 등 대,중형의 복잡한 구조물에 대항 동특성을 나타내 는 모빌리티를 결정할 경우 충격 가진 실험이 사용되는 실험장비 측면에서 나 실험을 수행하는 과정이 대체적으로 간편하다. 그러나 이 경우 대상 구조 물을 충분히 가진시킬수 있는 용량의 대형 충격기(large impact hammer)가 필요하게 된다. 이러한 동적실험은 약 길이 61m, 폭 16m의 4경간 교량에 대 하여 동적실험을 수행하여 가능성을 확인하였다. 여기서는 실험실 수준의 평 판모델을 제작하고 실제 현장에서 이루어질 수 있는 진동제어 구조물에 대 한 동적실험 및 FRS를 수행하는 과정과 동일하게 따름으로써 실제 발생할 수 있는 오차나 error를 실험실내의 차원에서 파악하여 진동원을 있는 구조 물에 대한 진동제어기술을 보유하고자 한다. 이용한 해마의 부피측정은 해마경화증 환자의 진단에 있어 육안적인 MR 진단이 어려운 제한된 경우에만 실제적 도움을 줄 수 있는 보조적인 방법으로 생각된다.ofile whereas relaxivity at high field is not affected by τS. The Clinical Effectiveness of the Bonfils Intubation Fibrescope in Difficult Tracheal Intubation (기관내 삽관이 힘든 경우에서 Bonfils Intubation Fibrescope 사용의 임상적인 효과)

  • Background : This study was undertaken to evaluate the effectiveness of the Bonfils intubation fibrescope for cases of difficult tracheal intubation. Materials and Methods : For patients with an ASA physical status 1 or 2 betwen the ages of 20-90, direct laryngoscopy was performed and the layngoscopic view graded according to the Cormack and Lehane classification. Forty patients with Cormack and Lehane grade 3 or 4 were intubated using the Bonfils intubation fibrescope. During intubation, the success rates for tracheal intubation, overall time to intubation, number of attempts and adverse effects were recorded. The Thyromental and sternomental distances were recorded after the orotracheal intubation. Results : The success rates were significantly higher in Cormack and Lehane grade 3 (96.9%) patients compared to grade 4 (50%) (P<0.01). The time to intubation was significantly faster in patients with grade 3 compared to grade 4 (20 (10-49[7-300]) sec vs. 180 (31-300[10-300]) sec, P=0.01). The number of cases with a $SpO_2$<90% was significantly lower in patients with grade 3 (3.1%) compared to grade 4 (50%) (P<0.01). Conclusion : In patients with Cormack and Lehane grade 3, tracheal intubation using the Bonfils intubation fibrescope appears to be an effective technique for the management of a difficult intubation. However, the Bonfils intubation fibrescope can not always be used for the management of a difficult intubation in grade 4 patients; for these patients other effective instruments should be considered for difficult intubations.

Performance Test of the WAAS Tropospheric Delay Model for the Korean WA-DGNSS (한국형 WA-DGNSS를 위한 WAAS 대류층 지연 보정모델의 성능연구)

  • The precipitable water vapor (PW) was estimated using Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) from several GNSS stations within the Korean Peninsula. Nearby radiosonde sites covering the GNSS stations were used for the comparison and validation of test results. GNSS data recorded under typical and severe weather conditions were used to generalize our approach. Based on the analysis, we have confirmed that the derived PW values from the GNSS observables were well agreed on the estimates from the radiosonde observables within 10 mm level. Assuming that the GNSS observables could be a good weather monitoring tool, we further tested the performance of the current WAAS tropospheric delay model, UNB3, in the Korean Peninsula. Especially, the wet zenith delays estimated from the GNSS observables and from UNB3 delay model were compared. Test results showed that the modelled approach for the troposphere (i.e., UNB3) did not perform well especially under the wet weather conditions in the Korean Peninsula. It was suggested that a new model or a near real-time model (e.g., based on regional model from GNSS or numerical weather model) would be highly desirable for the Korean WA-DGNSS to minimize the effects of the tropospheric delay and hence to achieve high precision vertical navigation solutions.

  • $SF_6$ gas is widely used for dry etching process of semiconductor and display fabrication process. But $SF_6$ gas is considered for typical greenhouse gas for global warming. So it is necessary to research relating to $SF_6$ alternatives reducing greenhouse effect in semiconductor and display. $C_3F_6$ gas is one of the promising candidates for it. We studied about etch characteristics by performing Reactive Ion Etching process of dry etching and reduced gas element exhausted on etching process using absorbent Zeolite 5A. $Si_3N_4$ thin film was deposited to 500 nm with Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition and we performed Reactive Ion Etching process after patterning through photolithography process. It was observed that the etch rate and the etched surface of $Si_3N_4$ thin film with Scanning Electron Microscope pictures. And we measured and compared the exhausted gas before and after the absorbent using Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrophotometry.

A Study of the Failure Distribution and the Failure Difference by the Stress on the K-1 Tracked Vehicle (K-1전차의 고장분포와 부하에 따른 고장률 차이에 대한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is as follows. First, the hazard function on the failure probability density function of the K-1 tracked vehicles can be occurred in the form of the bathtub curve. Second, the failure mode may be different under two different operational situations. The research result shows that the bathtub curve can be fitted in the Weibull distribution, that assumes different shapes according to the specific stage of the system's life cycle. The K-1 tracked vehicle has a relatively high hazard(failure) rate at the time of its first service. The failure rate starts decreasing for a time immediately after it goes into service. After the break-in period, the surviving components have a fairly constant hazard rate. As the K-1 system ages, deterioration of its various parts takes place and the hazard rate starts Increasing. Second, the result shows the failure rate in the harsh operational environment is higher than that in the mild operational environment. In conclusion, the bathtub curve can be logically appropriate in establishing the depot overhaul cycle. Moreover, it is necessary for determining the right time of the depot overhaul to consider not only the age of defense equipment but also the different operational environment.
