  • When reinforced concrete is subjected to high temperature as in fire, there is deterioration in its properties of particular importance are loss in compressive strength, cracking and spalling of concrete, destruction of the bond between the cement paste and the aggregates and the gradual deterioration of the hardend cement paste. Assessment of fire-damaged concrete usually starts with visual observation of color change, cracking and spalling of the surface. In this paper, it was reported the trends of research and practical use on the Explosive Spalling Properties and Performance Based of Structural Design of the High-Strength Concrete.

Countermeasures for Beach Erosion around Fishing Port in East Sea of Korea (동해안 중소어항 인근 해안침식 방지대책)

  • Most of fishing ports on the east coast of Korea have constructed around sand beach. Such fishing port structure had caused important effect in erosion of neighborhood sand beach. In order to solve the problems, we have to understand the mechanism through estimations and accurate reproduction beach erosion. Simulataneously, we have to devise a suitable countermeasure for beach erosion to the object coast. This study suggests economically substantial countermeasure for beach erosion around the fishing port and investigates, the preventive effects using a numerical simulation technique.

  • 사면은 인공적 또는 자연적인 현상에 의하여 발생된 경사진 지반을 말하며, 그 안정성은 작용외력과 지반상태 및 지하수 등에 의하여 영향을 받는다. 사면의 파괴는 여러 가지 형태로 일어날 수 있으나 대체로 강성 활동 파괴체가 소성화된 국부적인 지반을 따라서 발생되고, 사면의 파괴형상은 경계조건과 지반상태가 단순할 경우에만 쉽게 예측할 수 있으며, 복잡한 지반상태에서는 많은 노력과 비용을 들여서 정밀하게 조사해야만 어느 정도 실제와 근사하게 예측할 수 있다. 자연 또는 인공사면에서 지질 및 지반상태, 지하수 상태, 사면의 형상, 사면의 규모, 외력의 작용상태 등의 조건을 분석하여 사면파괴를 일으킬 수 있는 원인들을 찾아내어 적합한 안정화대책을 마련하는 방안을 모색한다. 특히 사면을 성토사면, 절토사면, 암절사면, 대절토사면으로 구분하여 사면파괴 원인과 안정화대책에 대해서 심도 있게 검토한다. 사면의 설계 및 안정검토를 위하여 일반적으로 적용하고 있는 사면안정 검토 방법들에 대해서 이론전개 과정에서 발생되는 문제점들과 이들이 결과에 미치는 영향에 대해서 언급한다. 그리고 사면을 안정시키기 위하여 일상적으로 적용하는 대책공법들의 적용성을 사면파괴 원인과 연계해서 판정하는 방안을 검토한다.

A Comparison Between the Ballast Replacement Method & Geosynthetics-Reinforced Method for Restraint of Mud Pumping in Service Line (영업선상에서 분니 억제를 위한 자갈치환 공법과 토목섬유 보강공법 비교연구)

  • 3 years visual inspection has been performed on the railway lines where ballast replacement or geosynthetics-reinforcement had been used to restrain the mud pumping. The result indicates that geosynthetics-reinforcement is more effective than ballast replacement for the long-term mud pumping. In addition, the non-woven geotextile to be used for mud pumping restraint is effective when its weight is $330N/m^2$ or above. Furthermore, the lateral tensile strain under ballast on which wheel load applies ranges from 0.016 to 0.1211% and it's 10 times larger than the lateral tensile strain which ranges from 0.0078 to 0.0385%.

  • The tunnels that longer than 2km which have been recently constructed have serious noise problems resulting from the friction of vehicle wheels and pavement. In special, concrete pavement inside tunnels with a closed characteristic increases discomfort due to the traffic noise and the dust of pavement pollutes the air in tunnels. Therefore, it is urgent that we find out ways to cope with. This study purported to reduce noise inside tunnels covers the investigation of various pavement surface treatment methods adapted in developed countries, the analysis of the effect in noise reduction and construction methods and cases. The surface treatment method for silent pavement in tunnels reduced noise to 5dB (A)~10dB (A). Aggregate treatment method is evaluated the most appropriate method in that, related with other surface treatment method, it reduces noise and improves skid resistance. It is necessary for us to introduce equipments and design and rearrange of specification for the development of the silent pavement method in Korea.

  • This paper presented that the causes on failure of reinforced slope are analyzed which based on the analyzed result. It had been applied that a method of lowering the groundwater using deepwell for sump. For the stability analysis on applied method, a series of numerical analysis were carried out. Therefore, it could be confirmed that slope stability was affected the dewatering ability of groundwater by the rainfall and this method which was confirmed very reasonable and suitable methods for slope stability, during heavy rainfall, in field.

A Study on the Development of a Dry P0SCO E&C Fire Board Method with High Fire Resistance (건식화 P0SCO E&C Fire Board 공법 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The present study was to develop a dry PFB method similar to the existing gypsum board construction method in order to apply the existing wet PFB method that uses fire.resistant adhesive. It was found that the existing wet method can produce concrete compressive strength of 80MPa and fire resistance of 3 hours with 30mm PF boards. The goal of development in this study was fire resistance of 3 hours through dry construction of 15mm fire resistant boards. The results of fire resistance test showed an increase in thermal durability and thermal strain. It is believed that inorganic fiber reduces thermal strain, and lowers heat insulation performance by 15% or less. This suggests that heat insulation performance was improved by the change in the inner composition of PF board resulting from the adjustment of Al:Si mol ratio, high temperature molding, and dry curing. According to the results of fire resistance test, when the dry PF method was applied, the temperature of the main reinforcing bar was 116$^\circ$C in 15mm, 103.8$^\circ$C in 20mm, and 94$^\circ$C in 25mm, and these results satisfied the current standards for fire resistance control presented by the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs. When a 3 hour fire resistance test was performed and the external properties of the specimen were examined, the outermost gypsum board hardly remained and internal PF board maintained its form without thermal strain.

Development of Countermeasure Expert System for Tunneling Failure (터널 붕락특성과 시공 중 보강공법 선정방법 개발)

  • Many Studies of tunnel and tunnelling safety have been developed continuously based on the increasing social interests in underground space since 1990's in Korea. Because the growth of population in metropolitan has been accelerated at a faster pace than the development of the cities, underground facilities have been created as a great extent in view of less land space available. In this study, a lot of types of tunnel failure were surveyed and the detail causes were studied after many cases of tunnel failure were collected. There were suggested brief countermeasure of tunnel failure through case study. An expert system was developed to predict the safety of tunnel and choose proper tunnel reinforcement system using fuzzy quantification theory and fuzzy inference rule based on tunnel information database. The comparison result between the predicted reinforcement system level and measured ones was very similar. In-situ data were obtained in three tunnel sites including subway tunnel under Han river. This system will be very helpful to make the most of in-situ data and suggest proper applicability of tunnel reinforcement system developing more resonable tunnel support method from dependance of some experienced experts for the absent of guide.

  • 본 붕괴재해 원인진단 조사보고서는 유원건설(주)에서 본 협회에 의뢰한 경기도 하남시 창우동에서 남양주군 와부읍 팔당리를 연결하는 팔당대교의 사장교구간 붕괴사고에 대한 것으로써, 사고원인 및 차후 공법에 대한 안전대책을 소개하고자 한다.
