  • Seed proteins of 51 varieties of soybean were separated by disc electrophoresis. Nine varieties had Rf 0.79 electrophoretic band, and 42 varieties had Rf 0.83 band. The frequency for Rf 0.79 was 0.176 and the frequency for Rf 0.83 was 0.824. The F_1 seeds of crossed between Kumgangdaepp (Rf 0.79) and Uidu (Rf 0.83) possessed both bands. Analysis of 96 F_2 seeds showed a ratio of 22 : 53 : 21 (Rf 0.79 : Rf 0.79/Rf 0.83 : Rf 0.83), suggesting single gene control with two co dominant alleles.

  • Kakuro puzzles are NP-complete problems where no way to solve puzzles in polynomial time is known. Until now, a brute-force search method or a linear programming method has been applied to substitute all possible cases. This paper finds a magic rule, a rule for box sizes and unfilled numbers according to sum clues. Based on the magic rule, numbers that cannot enter empty cells were deleted from the box for row and column sum clues. Next, numbers that cannot enter the box were deleted based on the sum clue value. Finally, cells with only a single number were confirmed as clues. As a result of applying the proposed algorithm to seven benchmarking experimental data, it was shown that solutions could be obtained for all problems.

  • Effects of the dimensionless variables on the heat transport phenomena in the extrusion process of a single screw extruder have been studied numerically. Based on the understanding of the solids conveying related to the geometrical structure and characteristics of the screw, the heat balance equation for the solids conveying zone was established and normalized. The finite volume method and power-law scheme were applied to derive a discretized equation and the equation was solved using the alternating direction iterative method with relaxation. Effects of the dimensionless parameters, Biot and Peclet numbers, that define the heat transfer characteristics of the solids conveying zone have been investigated with respect to the temperature of the feeding zone and the length of the solids conveying zone. As the Biot number is increased, the heat loss by cooling dominates to decrease the temperature of the barrel but it has little effects on the temperature of the solids bed and the length of the solids conveying zone. On the other hand, if the Peclet number is increased, the convection term dominates to decrease the temperature of the solids bed and it results in an increase in the length of the solids conveying zone.

  • It is often said that the supply of fossil fuels in use for energy source will last only for 40 years. Futhermore, statistics shows that most of the fuels are imported from outside and that 30-40% of total cost for housing in Korea. One of those methods for reducing the energy cost for housing is to use underground space. Being used well, it may bring a considerable saving of energy since the underground space keeps its air cool in summer and warm in winter. To use underground space, we need to analyse its temperature first. For this purpose, what is generally used is the numerical analysis with the use of nodal system. That is, we can calculate a specific underground temperature with the matrix of thermal resistance after we make a nodal system. However, the existing numerical analysis programs need usually high cost and require a computer with large capacity. So they are seldom used in practice. Considering such problems, this study seeks to find a method for making the matrix of thermal resistance operatable on PC level.

  • The characteristics of high heat input (342kJ/cm) EG (Electro Gas Arc) welded joint of EH36-TM steel has been investigated. The weld metal microstructure consisted of fine acicular ferrite (AF), a little volume of polygonal ferrite (PF) and grain boundary ferrite (GBF). Charpy impact test results of the weld metal and heat affected zone (HAZ) met the requirement of classification rule (Min. 34J at $-20^{\circ}C$). In order to evaluate the relationship between the impact toughness property and the grain size of HAZ, the austenite grain size of HAZ was measured. The prior austenite grain size in Fusion line (F.L+0.1 mm) was about $350{\mu}m$. The grain size in F.L+1.5 mm was measured to be less than $30{\mu}m$ and this region was identified as being included in FGHAZ(Fine Grain HAZ). It is seen that as the austenite grain size decreases, the size of GBF, FSP (Ferrite Side Plate) become smaller and the impact toughness of HAZ increases. Therefore, the CGHAZ was considered to be area up to 1.3mm away from the fusion line. Results of TEM replica analysis for a welded joint implied that very small size ($0.8\sim1.2{\mu}m$) oxygen inclusions played a role of forming fine acicular ferrite in the weld metal. A large amount of (Ti, Mn, Al)xOy oxygen inclusions dispersed, and oxides density was measured to be 4,600-5,300 (ea/mm2). During the welding thermal cycle, the area near a fusion line was reheated to temperature exceeding $1400^{\circ}C$. However, the nitrides and carbides were not completely dissolved near the fusion line because of rapid heating and cooling rate. Instead, they might grow during the cooling process. TiC precipitates of about 50 ~ 100nm size dispersed near the fusion line.

  • Frequency domain Volterra model is applied to nonlinear parameter identification procedure for dynamic systems modeled by nonlinear function. The frequency domain Volterra kernels, which correspond io linear, quadratic, and cubic transfer functions in lime domain, are incorporated in nonlinear parametric identification procedure. The nonlinear transfer functions, which can be derived from the Volterra series representation of the nonlinear differential equation of the system by Schetzen's method(1980), are directly used for modeling input output relation. The error is defined by the difference between the observed output and the estimated output which is calculated by substituting the observed input to nonlinear frequency domain model. The system parameters are searched by minimizing the error. Volterra model guarantees enough accuracy and convergence and the estimated coefficients have a good agreement with their actual values not only in the linear frequency region but also in the legion where the $2^{nd}\;or\;3^{rd}$ order nonlinearity is dominant.

  • Due to new social environment, expenditure on eating out has increased over the last few year, thereafter the food-tech industries have steadily grown as well. We have studied what variable would affect customer's choices when they plan to eat out or order in. There are two variables are taken into account to prove it. Firstly, it is climate changes, such as an amount of rainfall, snowfall and clouds. Secondly, it is days, such as seasons and holidays. Based on this, we looked up the SikSin user's behaviors patterns, then did analysis of the daily data provided by the Meteorological office. By the end of the study, it turned out that two variables, climate changes and days, both have a strong influence on customer's choices. It is considered that this research outcome will make contributions to small businesses founders who want to take the initiative, marketing managers and people who are engaged in the food-tech industry.

  • Age determination was carried out with the bricks relating to Muryong Royal Tomb of the Baekje Kingdom, for which there is no information on the external gamma dose rate, by using the subtraction method of luminescence dating. In the subtraction method, each paleodose for fine grain and for quartz inclusion is required for the sample to be dated. In this study, the paleodose for the fine grain was estimated by thermoluminescence measurement and the paleodose for the quartz inclusion was determined using optically stimulated luminescence. The resultant ages among the bricks showed good agreement with standard deviation of 6 % error. Finally the bricks relating to Muryong Royal Tomb were evaluated as AD $530{\pm}50yrs$($1{\sigma}$ SD).

  • In this paper, we aimed to convert the fire curve in volume units to a fire curve per unit area for application in the Fire Dynamic Simulator (FDS) surface heat release rate method. The fire curve was expressed dimensionlessly considering the total combustion characteristic time, and improvements were made to represent the appropriate ratios for the growth , steady, and decay phases concerning the fire intensity. Additionally, a correction function for combustion characteristic time varying with mass increase was derived. Also to control the growth time values according to the increase in mass, a function to correct the growth phase ratio was derived. Consequently, utilizing existing data, a formula was established to determine the reference mass for combustion materials and predict the fire curve based on mass increase.
