Measurements of Equivalence Ratio in the Spark Plug Gap and Its-Effects on Combustion Under Stratified Mixture Conditions in a Constant Volume Chamber (정적 연소실에서 성층화된 혼합기 조건하의 점화 전극사이 당량비 측정과 연소 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • To investigate only the effects of the stratified mixture distribution on initial flame propagation and combustion characteristics, the instantaneous equivalence ratio in the spark plug gap and combustion pressure were measured simultaneously In a constant volume chamber, To induce the stratified propane-air mixture distribution near the spark plug, counter-flow typed mixture injection system was used under the constant mean equivalence ratio $\Phi$$\_$mean/= 1.0 The instantaneous equivalence ratio was measured by a single-shot Raman scattering with narrow-band KrF excimer laser. The measuring error was within the limit of $\pm$ 3.5% provided that the proposed method was applied to the measured Raman signals. Judging from mass fraction burned derived from the measured pressure, the optimum combustion characteristics were shown under the condition that the local equivalence ratio in the spark plug was near 1.28$\pm$0.04, and these characteristics were more remarkable at the initial stage of combustion.

  • Korean 'Law of Aviation' and 'Test Method of Measuring Noise and Vibration' designate to use WECPNL metric based on $L_{max}$ measurement for the accessment of aircraft noise in Korea. However, time duration of noise event can not be considered in $L_{max}$ metric in principle, compensation on the duration has been utilized. A study was done recently to evaluate appropriate duration compensation for the accessment of military aircraft noise under current metric of WECPNL and $L_{max}$. This study was carried out to evaluate what metric is the most appropriate to express aircraft noise including time duration of single noise event, computing and comparing noise exposure with 1 second noise measurement data of military aircraft in $L_{max}$, $L_{Aeq,\;T}$ and SEL. This study shows SEL is the most appropriate noise metric for the evaluation of noise exposure with time duration such as aircraft noise without compensation. It is suggested to use SEL noise metric instead of $L_{max}$ noise metric with duration compensation for the aircraft noise accessment either military aircraft or civilian aircraft.

  • The duration time of aircraft noise event is also an important factor for the evaluation of civil aircraft noise, which is considered as a notable characteristic of military aircraft noise. SEL is proved as a suitable noise metric for the measuring military aircraft noise of various flight pattern considering the duration time of noise event. This study reviews whether SEL is a suitable for measuring civil aircraft noise and study shows SEL is fairly compensating the duration time of civil aircraft noise event for the evaluation of aircraft noise. Noise metric for the evaluation aircraft noise based on SEL is more appropriate than based on $L_{MAX}$ for compensating duration time of noise event either military aircraft or civil aircraft. In this reason, current formula of WECPNL based on energy average of measured $L_{MAX}$ for the evaluation of aircraft noise impact in 'Test Method of Noise and Vibration of Korea' is recommended to be amended to formula of WECPNL based on energy average of measured SEL considering compensation of noise event duration time, if WECPNL is not based on measured EPNL, a metric compensating duration time.

A Study on the Diesel Flame by Means of Image Analysis ofn Shadow Photographs (음영사진의 화상해석에 의한 디젤화염에 관한 연구)

  • The formation and oxidation processes of soot particles in a diesel flame were investigated with a rapid compression machine. A cloud of soot particles was successfully visualized by means of the instantaneous laser shadow photographs technique and the equivalence ratio of the soot formation zone was estimated from a measured fuel concentration distribution in a nonevaporating spray. The temporal and spatial variation of soot concentration in the flame was also correlated with the rate of heat release. Soot particles appears first in a region near the flame tip when diffusion combustion period starts, and its concentration is a maximum at about the end of injection, then decreases due to oxidation. The reason for soot being formed in a fuel lean region near the flame tip is the evaporated fuel requires time to be pyrolized as it travels through the burning fuel rich zone towards the flame tip.

  • As the Internet use increases explosively, and the information provision and services via the Internet is getting active, understanding the status of the Internet use and the Internet users' characteristics becomes necessity for organizations, corporations, and in-formation providers. This paper reviews various surveys on the Internal users and the Internal one con-ducted in Korea, the United States and the United Kingdom. By the comparisons and analyses of these survey results, this paper intended to provide visions on the future direction In the Internet service provision and the Internet uses in general.

Simulation Analysis of RICH-DP for Real-time Service in Multi-Channel Networks (다중채널 무선망에서 실시간 서비스를 제공하기 위한 RICH-DP 시뮬레이션 분석)

  • 무선 근거리 지역망(Wireless LAN;WLAN) 환경에서 다중 채널을 이용하여 실시간 서비스를 제공하기 위한 매체 접근제어 계층에서의 채널의 사용 구간 할당 방법을 제안하고, 컴퓨터 모의 실험을 통하여 제한된 방식의 실시간 서비스 지원 성능과 채널의 사용 효율을 분석한다. 제안한 채널 사용 구간 할당 방안은 개선된 매체 접근 제어 프로토콜 RICH-DP (Receiver-Initiated Channel-Hopping with Dual Polling)를 바탕으로 한다. 무선 환경에서 RTS-CTS를 사용하는 프로토콜은 SRMA, MACA, MACAW, IEEE 802.11, FAMA 등이 있다. 최근에 단일 채널을 환경에서 RICH(Receiver Initiated Channel-Mopping) 프로토콜이 제안되었다. RICH는 충돌 회피를 위해서 경쟁 구간에서 충돌 감지(carrier sensing)을 사용한다. RICH는 제한된 어플케이션에 국한되는 단절이 있다. 반면에 RICH-DP는 다중 채널 환경에서 충돌 감지와 특별한 코드(spreading code) 할당 없이 일반화된 충돌 회피를 제공한다. 실시간 서비스를 이용하자 차는 단말들로 하여금 RICH-DP를 사용하여 서비스를 제공할 때, 대역폭에 대한 정보를 AP(Access Point)로 전송토록 함으로써 비경쟁 구간에서 뿐 아니라, 경쟁구간에서도 높은 채널 효율이 얻어질 수 있도록 하고 있다. 제한된 방안의 성능 평가를 위한 모의 실험은 OPNET를 이용하여 실시간 서비스 데이터를 7개의 상태 천이를 갖는 VBR 소스로 모델링하고 비동기 트래픽들은 Poisson 소스로 모델링하여 실시간 서비스 단발들의 이용 대역폭과 채널 처리율과 시스템 지연시간을 성능 평가 인자로 하여 수행하였다. 논문에서 제한된 방법을 적용한 개선된 RICH-DP을 모의 실험을 통하여 분석한 결과 기존의 제한된 RICH-DP는 실시간 서비스에 대한 처리율이 낮아지며 서비스 시간이 보장되지 못했다. 따라서 실시간 서비스에 대한 새로운 제안된 기법을 제안하고 성능 평가한 결과 기존의 RICH-DP보다 성능이 향상됨을 확인 할 수 있었다.

  • Since the information transmitted in VANET is distributed in an open access environment, the security problem is one of the most critical issue in VANET. For the communicate efficiently in VANET, each RSU(Roadside Unit) or OBU(On-Board Units) need certain features that will help them to gather information, to inform their neighbors and to make decisions by considering all of the collected information. In this paper, we propose a novel authentication scheme guaranteeing secure RSUs to OBUs of VANET in highway used the ID-based authentication scheme. We show a usefulness and effectiveness of proposed authentication scheme after compared with previous works.

  • Cystic hygroma is a congenital anomaly of the lymphatic system for which the exact pathogenetic mechanism remains to be elucidated. It is filled with lymphatic fluid and commonly present in the cervical area in either single isolated or multiple form. It is usually innocuous without any pain but may be life-threatening when it is large enough to compromise the airway or interfere with swallowing. Since spontaneous regressions rarely occur, it requires surgical removal. However, this may be rendered difficult in multiple forms and in those with extensive infiltration into the surrounding tissue. This is a presentation of 10 pediatric patients with cystic hygroma who have been successfully treated by sclerotherapy using bleomycin at the authors' department.

  • Neurofibroma are slow growing benign tumors arising from the neurilemal sheath (Schwann cells) and fibroblasts of the peripheral nerve. This benign tumor may occur as a solitary lesion or as a part of the syndrome of neurofibromatosis. The neurofibroma of oral tissues is rare in otolaryngologic field and usually presents as a firm, elevated, nonpainful lesion that shows the usual histologic findings of a neurofibroma or neurilemmoma. Recently, we have experienced a neurofibroma arising from the tongue in a 54 year old female and removed successfully under local anesthesia. No evidence of recurrence has been observed up to date.

A Developement of Ultra High Pressure Injection Equipment for Study on Diesel Spray Characteristics with Ultra High Pressure (극초고압 디젤분무특성 해석을 위한 극초고압 단발분사장치의 개발)

  • It was known that high pressure injection is an effective method to enhance thermal efficiency and decrease exhaust emissions in diesel engines. If injection pressure becomes ultra high, it is predicted that there may be a suitable injection pressure which the enhancement rate of spray characteristics is moderate. Also, there may be a limit injection pressure which spray characteristics is reversed and get worse. But these are unknown. To investigate a suitable injection pressure and a limit injection pressure, ultra high pressure injection equipment(UHPIE), which can realize the injection pressure of 3,200bar, was developed. UHPIE is a basic apparatus of single shot injection, and ultra high pressure was achieved by second stage rapid compression in short time. From the evaluation of UHPIE, a injection curve like a conventional diesel engine(jerk type) was realized. Also, it was proved that repetition of experiment was excellent. Therefore it was found that there was no problem to perform the study on the ultra high pressure injection with UHPIE. Consequently, the foundation of the study on ultra high pressure injection could be established.
