The Effect of Online Learning Using Note-Taking on Academic Achievement (노트 필기를 사용한 온라인 학습이 학업성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, we study the effects of note-taking skills on students' academic performance, satisfaction, and concentration, and immersiveness when students are taking online classes. The Cornell note format was used for the note-taking skills. The survey result shows that note-taking skills in online class increase students' diligence, participation, and concentration. We find a strong positive correlation between the number of Cornell note submission and academic performance, and we show that the association between two is a statistically significant by using simple/multiple regression analysis. The multiple regression result shows that one unit increase in the Cornell note submission is associated with the increase in 0.253 midterm score on average. In addition, one unit increase in the Cornell note submission is associated with increase in 0.287 final exam score on average. Further, we conduct bootstrapping regression as a robustness test and show that the results are consistent with the simple/multiple regression results. These analyses show that Cornell note taking skills in online classes can be beneficial for students to improve the quality of their learning.

  • 학교 교육 현장에 웹 기반의 교육의 형태가 늘어나는 추세지만 학생이 홈페이지 형태의 교재를 보면서 웹브라우저 상에 필기하고 저장하여 다시 그 내용을 볼 수 있는 환경은 아직 제공되고 있지 않다. 본 논문에서는 벡터 그래픽 기반의 VML과 DHTML를 이용하여 웹브라우저 상에서 수업 교재로서 제공된 문서에 줄을 긋거나 필기한 수 있는 환경을 제공한다. 필기된 내용은 동적으로 만들어진 VML 정식의 텍스트 기반으로 데이터 베이스에 저장된다. 교재로서의 웹문서는 웹서버에서 VML의 내용은 데이터 베이스에서 추출해서 웹문서와 VML의 내용이 웹 브라우저에서 함께 출력됨으로써 필기 내용을 다시 볼 수 있는 웹노트 시스템을 제안함으로써 전자 문서 표준화에 발맞춰 엄청난 교과서 제작 비용의 감소 효과와 교사의 교재와 칠판 필기 및 학생의 교과서와 노트가 오직 PC나 노트북만으로 해결 가능한 교육 현장 전반의 획기적인 전환이 예상된다.

Effects of note-taking strategy on blended learning adult nursing education (노트필기 전략이 블랜디드러닝 성인간호학 교육에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was attempted to analyze the effect of a note-taking strategy applied to blended learning adult nursing education. Data were collected from September 17 to October 15, 2021, and analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 26.0 program with a single group pre/post design targeting 33 nursing students. As a main result, learning motivation rose from 3.27 before class to 3.40 after class, but there was no significant difference(t=-1.501, p=.143), and class participation significantly increased from 2.95 before class to 3.27 after class(t=-2.669, p=.012). Motivation for learning before class was pre-class participation(r=.838, p<.001), learning motivation after class(r=.545, p=.001), and class participation after class(r=.462, p=.007) and each showed a significant positive correlation. Learning motivation and class participation according to gender(Wilks'𝛌=.866), class interest(Wilks'𝛌=.632), and class satisfaction(Wilks'𝛌=.822) were all higher than the significance level of .05, so they were no significant difference. Based on these results, applying a note-taking strategy to blended learning adult nursing education was effective in improving class participation. In a future study, it is necessary to verify the effectiveness by applying a note-taking strategy customized according to academic achievement.

A Web Note using VML : MyNote (VML을 이용한 웹노트 : MyNote)

  • Although a type of Web-based education has increased continuously, it has provided an environment that students use textbooks which are forms of homepage, make a note of lecture on Web browser, save the contents of note and use them again. Therefore, this thesis proposes a web note, MyNote, that students draw lines and write notes about the lecture using VML and DHTML on Web. Here, the contents of the note are saved in database with a form of text-based VML made dynamically using ASP. The document used with teaching material is downloaded from Web server to Web client and the content of VML is done from database. Using MyNote, students have their own libraries on Web. The content of note Is saved and printed on Web, and learners can relearn because they can review the content.

  • 아직도 매 수업시간 컴퓨터를 활용하면서도 노트 필기는 책이나 공책에 작성한다. 때때로 필기된 내용들이 뒤죽박죽 엉켜 있기도 한다. 또 주목하여야 할 점은 현재 e-Book 시스템이 전 세계적으로 확산되고 있다는 것이다. 따라서 e-Book 시스템이 도입되면 더 이상 종이에 필기를 하는 것이 필요 없을 것이다. 본 e-Book 시스템은 이러한 추세에 맞춰 대학생들이 쉽게 사용이 가능한 시스템을 구현하여 노트 필기를 디지털화하여 수업 자료들을 장소에 구애받지 않고 체계적으로 관리할 수 있도록 시스템을 구현 제안한다.

  • 연구노트는 연구자가 연구의 수행 시작에서부터 연구 성과물의 보고 및 발표 또는 지식 재산화에 이르기까지의 과정 및 결과를 기록한 자료를 의미한다. 소액 연구 사업 및 일반 기술 지원 사업 등 정책 및 관리, 지원을 목적으로 하는 연구 사업을 제외한 모든 연구 사업은 연구노트를 작성하도록 할 필요가 있다. 이때 주로 사용되는 방식은 제본된 노트에 필기구 등을 이용하여 내용을 기재하는 서면 연구노트이다. 많은 정부출연연구소들이 서면 연구노트를 제작 및 배포하고 있고, 작성된 연구노트에 대해 점검 결과에 따라 포상을 하는 등의 연구노트 작성을 독려하는 노력을 하고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 반복되는 작업이라는 점과 기록하기 복잡하다는 점, 실험 중에 연구노트를 작성하기 어렵다는 점 등의 이유로 인해 서면 연구노트의 활용도는 매우 낮은 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 상황을 극복하기 위해 정부출연연구소에 적합한 전자연구노트 시스템 구축 사례에 대해 소개를 하고, 시스템 운용에 따른 효과를 분석해 보고자 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 현대사회에서 응용분야가 광범위하고, 높은 인식율과 빠른 처리속도를 위하여 많은 연구가 진행되어왔던 오프라인 필기체 인식 중 디지털 펜을 위한 새로운 필기체 문자 인식 시스템과 이를 이용한 화상 채팅 시스템을 제안한다. 이 시스템의 문자 인식에 필요한 처리는 체인코드에 기반하며 유니코드와 획 코드를 이용하여 처리하는 필기체 문자 인식 시스템으로, 일반적으로 터치 패널이 없는 데스크 탑 과 노트북에서도 터치 펜 기능을 가능하게 하는 디지털 펜을 위한 필기체 문자 인식 시스템이며 화상 채팅은 WSAEventSelect Model을 사용하여 제작한 시스템이다.

Middle School Students' Perceptions and Practice of Handwriting and Factors Affecting their Attitudes towards Handwriting (중학생의 필기에 대한 인식, 실태 및 필기태도에 영향을 미치는 요인들)

  • This study aimed to identify middle school students' perceptions and practices of handwriting, and factors affecting their attitudes towards handwriting. Data were collected by means of a survey targeting 346 students enrolled in 9 middle schools(Male=172, Female=172, Unknown=2, M=13.5 years old, SD= .94). Interviews, too, were conducted with 12 students in order to identify the students' perceptions of handwriting. The analyses of both survey and interview data revealed the following: (1) the majority of the interviewee students believed that handwriting is useful for memory and summarization so as to get a better school grade, including performance evaluations; (2) Many of the interviewee students were unsatisfied with their handwriting skills, giving higher scores to their peers' handwriting; (3) 45.7% of the students reported that mother was the one who taught them how to write for the first time; and 49.7% of them had no learning experience of taking notes; (4) Girls than boys and 1st graders than 2 or 3 graders showed more positive attitude towards handwriting; and (5) A multiple regression analysis showed that all the variables entered in the regression model, including sex, grade, affective attitude toward hands-on activities, physical abilities, time spent using a computer, and perceptions of Korean characters, had significant impacts on the students' attitudes towards handwriting.

A Survey on Students' Perception of Tablet Computer-based Mobile Learning (타블렛 컴퓨터를 활용한 모바일 학습에 관한 학습자의 인식 조사)

  • The purpose of the paper was to investigate students' perceptions of tablet computer-based mobile learning in a middle school. We examined the perceptions in terms of: 1) learning effectiveness, which refers to the effects of tablet computer on learning outcomes such as the grade; 2) attitude change, which is the change of students' attitudes and study habit; 3) learning activities, which refers to the kinds of learning activities using tablet computer; and 4) computer utilization, which is the ways of computer use in the study. The result showed that, in general, tablet computer affected all four types of perceptions positively.

Analyze the Affective and Learning Strategy Difference of Engineering Students under Academic Probation and other College Students (이공계 학사경고 대학생과 일반 대학생의 동기 및 학습전략 차이 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference between motivation and learning strategies of students who have received academic probation and who have not while attending engineering college. The subjects of this study were engineering college students in Seoul and they participated in the learning strategy test at the teaching and learning center. The subjects of this study were 553 students, 22 of whom received academic probation and 531 didn't. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, we used MLST (Multi-dimensional Learning Strategy test) learning strategy checklists of Korea Guidance, which is a standardized test. A t-test was conducted to compare motivational and learning strategies between students with and without academic probation. As a result, the motivation score of the students with the academic probation was lower than that of those without the academic probation, and the score of the time management and note taking factors of the students with the academic probation were lower than those of the students without the academic probation.
