본 연구에서는 연령·조명·프로그램 종류에 따른 TV 최적 화질의 설정치를 규명하고, 최적 화질에 대한 감성구조를 규명하는 것이 목적이다. 아동, 성인 그리고 노인이 실험에 참여하였고, 세 가지 조명 조건에 따라 영화, 만화영화 (애니메이션), 드라마, 다큐멘터리의 화면이 제시되었다. 실험 참여자들은 화면을 보는 동안, 리모콘을 사용하여 가장 만족스러운 화면을 설정하였다. 또한 설정한 최적화질에 대해 감성을 평가하였다. 그 결과, 연령·조명·프로그램 종류에 따라 최적 화질에 대한 설정치가 다르게 나타났다. 화질에 대한 감성구조는 두 차원 (쾌-불쾌 및 감각특성, 미적특성)으로 나타났으며, 연령에 따라 감성구조가 다르게 나타났다.

This study examined how the facility satisfaction, anxiety, self-esteem, stress, and depression of the elderly in care facilities affect their life satisfaction. The objects of the study were 271 elderly in 8 care facilities located in Seoul and associated areas. The results of a questionnaire, which was carried out from the 10th March to 25th August 2013, were analyzed. For data analysis, a t-test, one-way variance analysis, correlation analysis, and proof analysis on the SPSSWIN 18.0 program was conducted at the significance level of 5%. The analysis revealed the following. First, there were differences in the life satisfaction depending on age, sex, education level, and marital status. Second, life satisfaction was related to service satisfaction, medical service satisfaction, facility environment satisfaction, and self-esteem. Third, life satisfaction was higher if self-esteem, service satisfaction and facility environment satisfaction were higher, and if the family relationship stress was lower. Overall, self-esteem, service satisfaction, and facility environment satisfaction of the admitted elderly were positive influential factors of life satisfaction.

This study defines the silver portal as a specialized internet portal that will be probably popular with the pre-senior/senior internet users who are over 40, sooner or later. The purpose of the study is to analyze what types of online contents on the silver portal are mostly preferred by the pre-senior/senior, and does the preference of those content types vary according to the demographic and the internet usage characteristics of the pre-senior. The study also is to suggest some research propositions, based on the analysis results, that could be applied to empirical studies in the future which deal with various research questions on the silver portal. To accomplish these research purposes, the study performed a survey for the prospective silver portal users who are living in the areas of Seoul and Kyeonggi, South Korea, and did various statistical analyses. This study found that the preference of content types of the silver portal vary according to some personal characteristics of the prospective silver portal users, and moreover proposed a few of research propositions on the relationships between personal characteristics and preferred content types.

This study aims to provide basic information about the policy and system improvements relevant to single elderly men, through an investigation concerning the use and needs of activity spaces near their housing environments. Eighteen single elderly men over 60-years-old living in Gunsan city of Jeonbuk province in Korea participated in in-depth interview, and the data were qualitatively analyzed. The results of the study are as follows: The social networks of the participants were focused on friends or colleagues, while mutual exchanges with their children were intermittently undertaken. Natural networks of the elderly were formed mainly in third places, such as parks, restaurants, or community facilities, and about a half of the elderly participants had no spatial needs, and the rest required spaces for meal services, the elderly living community, jobs, leisure/hobby activities, or facility improvements. The elements influencing use of activity spaces were access from the residence, health, social networks, and economic conditions. The results suggest the following: Exercise or leisure facilities supporting elderly mobility should be set up close to their residential environments. Senior facilities centered on systematic supports and shuttle buses circulating around the places that the elderly visit frequently should be considered. On the other hand, regular maintenance and education on residents' proper use of the facilities, and sufficient information and fee discounts for the general programs are needed so that the elderly could interact with the younger generation. From a public perspective, a rational system and policy based on understanding single elderly men's needs should be prepared for provision and management of the activity space.

The purpose of this exploratory study is to examine if the application of smart technology(ST) would assist adjustment to the nursing home facilities in the elderly. Since there is not much previous research on this subject, we generated survey questionnaires on our own. Data were collected from the survey of 127 employees at 6 nursing homes including geriatric care workers, social workers and nurses who provide direct as well as indirect care services. Results showed that the utilization of ST would benefit the areas of family relationship support, health support, leisure support, and physical environment adjustment. As for physical environment adjustment, study participants reported that ST would help elders familiarize employees and find directions for specific space the most. As for health support, ST would be best utilized as a security sensor and program alarm system. As for support for family relationship, ST was expected to be utilized as looking at family pictures and playing with self pictures/videos. As for leisure support, ST was expected to assist elders to listen to music and watch movies/TV. These results were different according to the characteristics of the participants and the smartifacts. These results of the study will show the direction for more in-depth studies on application of smart technology for the elderly in the future.

The purpose of this study was to examine the current status of elderly sports both domestically and internationally, and to explore strategies for the activation of Silver Taekwondo as one of the sports disciplines for the elderly. To investigate the status of elderly sports globally, press releases and statistical data from various national public institutions and sports facilities (including the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Korean Statistical Information Service, e-National Indicators, and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation) were collected. Comparative analysis with related papers, journals, and books led to the following findings for activating Silver Taekwondo. Firstly, elderly sports in South Korea are primarily conducted through welfare centers, with a preference for dance, yoga, and music, while martial arts, including Taekwondo, had a lower preference rate. To increase participation in Silver Taekwondo, a variety of marketing approaches, similar to those used internationally, such as experiential case studies in media, film production, distribution, and telephone promotions, are necessary. Secondly, the development of Silver Taekwondo programs tailored to the training targets and the cultivation of instructors capable of executing these programs are needed. The development of programs should involve collaboration with Taekwondo institutions, dojangs, universities, and lifelong education centers, requiring the participation of majoring students and elderly sports instructors.

This study attempts to examine the impact of a documentary film, on the perception and satisfaction with the public health insurance system in South Korea. It is needed that public support to expand health insurance coverage and to intensify national health insurance. The documentary film investigates health care in the United States, comparing with the non-profit universal health care systems of Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Cuba. So an online education content for the general education was developed using this film and the surveys were carried out to gather information about perception, satisfaction and opinion on national health insurance system before the lesson and after. And pared t tests were conducted to analyze the effects of this education content using the film on perception and attitudes towards national health insurance system. Based on the empirical results, the way to develop education contents for improving the understanding public health system and to verify the effect of education contents were discussed.

In the wake of the radical structural change of the society, problems in family support for the old aged have arisen. Against this backdrop, the aim of this study was to examine aspects of the conflicts in family support focusing on novels by Park Wan-seo, and to analyze the expression of the family support awareness within the social consciousness. We analyzed the movie (2016/ directed by J-yong E), which is entangled in politics of gender, age, class, or sexuality, naming as "spaces of Others", using the concepts of heterotopia of Foucault. Foucault addressed three types of spaces: the realistic space where we currently live, the unrealistic and non-existent utopia, and heterotopia, which functions antithetically to reality. Thus, Foucault's heterotopia can be considered to indicate "heterogeneous spaces" in reality. The Bacchus Lady revolves a 65-year old prostitute So-Young, sells her body to old men at the parks in downtown of Seoul. Old prostitute on streets are often referred as "Bacchus Ladies", because suggest the popular energy drink a bottle of Bacchus while selling sex. The movie represents some minorities such as transgender, Tina and madam of the club, G-spot, migrant women like Camila and Aindu, and a amputee, Dohoon. Through these people's bodies, the problems such as imperials, nations, ethnics, gender, age, class are entangled in the movie. The politics of these points work and construct heterotopias in four spaces of Others. First, the spaces which ageing and death are intersected. Second, the spaces of So-Young for prostitutes, Third, the spaces of So-Young's mothering: she adopted her baby to American when he was a infant, so she have felt guilty. Fourth, the spaces for So-young's quasi-family with Minho, a Kopian boy who was abandoned by Korean father, Dohoon, who is a poor amputee, and Tina, who is a transgender singer. Fifth, the spaces of speech of So-Young as the subaltern: the subaltern does not have the language to express its own experiences. In order to listen to the words of subaltern, we must do the task of measuring the silence. This cinematic representation of So-young as the subaltern makes her speak about her situation. Finally, the spaces constructed by the movie can be connected 'heterotopia of crisis', 'heterotopia of deviation' and 'heterotopia of fantasy'. The spaces of the movie represents lives of Others, nevertheless, So-Young's Otherness through spaces of heterotopia was transformed to an absolute Other by patriarchal traits of cinematic narrative.
