Direction of Elderly Education in the Age of Science and Technology (과학기술 시대 노인교육의 방향)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the direction of elderly education in the age of science and technology. The research contents to achieve the research purpose are, first, to examine the current status of elderly education, and second, to suggest the direction of elderly education in the age of science and technology. Due to the current status of education for the elderly, education for the elderly continues to change and develop, and various programs and activities are provided to help the elderly enjoy a richer retirement life. According to the survey report on the elderly, 11.9% of all elderly people participate in learning activities. Senior welfare centers accounted for the largest number of institutions conducting learning activities for elderly education learning activities participants at 35.5%. First, in the direction of elderly education in the age of science and technology, education on the use of digital technology and information is necessary in the composition of elderly education contents. Second, in the case of elderly education methods, customized elderly education methods are needed. Third, in the case of operating elderly education institutions, specialized education centers for elderly education must be further strengthened and supported. The international community is already forming a consensus that the establishment of new social systems and financial investment due to the increase in the elderly population should be considered a new growth engine rather than a social crisis. Although there is a burden on the social security sector due to the increase in the elderly population, there is a shift in the direction of recognizing the potential capabilities and experiences of the elderly and returning them to social resources. Elderly education in the age of science and technology needs to change to a direction that can build a healthy and progressive society in the future.

The Effect of Informatization Education Satisfaction of Elderly Welfare Center on Elderly Information Usage and Life Satisfaction (노인복지관의 정보화 교육만족도가 노인의 정보활용 및 생활만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of information education satisfaction of the elderly welfare center on information utilization satisfaction and life satisfaction of the elderly. For this purpose, we surveyed the elderly who were enrolled in the elderly welfare center from September 02 to September 24, 2015. First, in the information cognition improvement of the elderly, it was found that the content of education of information, education instructor, and educational environment are important. And in the improvement of the information experience of the elderly, it was found that the education contents, the education method, the instructor and the educational environment factors of the satisfaction of information education were important factors. Second, in the improvement of personal factors satisfaction of the elderly, it was found that the content of education of information and education and the factors of education instructor were important factors. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between information literacy and satisfaction of the elderly.

  • The purpose of this study is to inspect the case of university convergence education on elderly education. The Center for Academic Continuing Education (ZAWiW) at Ulm University in Germany aims to inquiry the diversity and differentiation of university and related institutions for senior education by analyzing the linkages between various major areas related to the subject of the elderly and cooperation models between generations. Various topics related to research and life in the elderly are being conducted with a focus on the participation of elderly learners. Through seasonal academy and Ulm 3rd Generation University, connection between regions and universities and interdisciplinary convergence are being actively provided. It can lead to a differentiated strategy of the university for the education of the elderly.

The Future Direction of Information Literacy for the Aged in the Lifelong Learning : Centering on Gumi Senior Welfare Center (평생교육으로서 노인정보화 교육의 발전 방향 : 구미시 노인종합복지회관의 정보화교육을 중심으로)

  • The Internet is being used in daily life, information literacy for the aged is become necessary. For the aged, they can communicate with different age groups and can improve their lives as a component of the society through information literacy. In this paper, we first analyze the computer class of Gumi Senior Welfare Center of Gyeongsangbuk-Do and then present the questionnaire including their needs for education and their changes after receiving information literacy. We also give the future direction of information literacy for the aged. The results of this paper will be useful to improve the lives of the local aged.

A Study about the Effects of Education for the Elderly on their Psychological Well-Being (노인교육 참여가 노인의 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the effects of education for the elderly on their psychological well-being. Loneliness(negative state of emotion) and life satisfaction(positive state of emotion) were compared between participants and non-participants of educational programs for the elderly in order to learn whether participating educational programs influences their psychological well-being. The subjects of this research were 288(146 participants and 142 non participants) elderly who are 60 years and older, living in Seoul City and Gyeong Gi Do. They were selected by the judgmental sampling method and surveyed using structured questionnaire. Research instruments were consisted of the UCLA Loneliness Scale, Life Satisfaction Index-Z Scale(LSIZ) and several background questions. The result showed that the participants of the educational programs had a lower level of loneliness and a higher level of life satisfaction. The educational program for the elderly was effective for the psychological well-being of the aged. Multiple regression results showed that subjective health played the most important role in explaining the loneliness, followed by education level, elderly education participation, financial states. Implications for policy, practice, and further research were discussed.

  • This Study aims to thesis the purpose and educational methodology of media education for senior citizens. As background research, current situation and agendas regarding the media education for senior citizens were investigated. In further, quantative focal interview method was deployed to analyze recognition of teaches and education participants in media education for senior citizens. Focal interviews basis on the purpose, problems of education environment, preferred education method and suggestions of media education. The focal interview lead to in-depth opinion relying on experience of teachers and education participants. This study is expected to present the basis data for future theoretical systemization of neglected classes and for seeking educational utilization methods.

  • The aim of this paper is developing the educational program for the elder's daily life as a consumer, according as recognize the important of their consumption function and role in modern society. This paper consider the studies for elder consumption needs and activities for educational program, then present six principles and contents in four areas. The principals are empirical, socialization, interrelation, spontaneity, individualization and respect for the aged principal. The program themes are preventive education for elder consumer, advisable transaction, advisable transaction through cases and consumer's right, responsibility, duty and process of decision for purchase.

  • This study is to abstract and systemize the essential elements of aging from the elementary and secondary textbooks. instuctional manuals. And the foundation of this. we have an cbject to develop the instructional materials about aging. We had 3 steps. First. we refered to sundry records. For example, the elementary, secondary external textbooks and educational program about older adults and aging. Second. we called the specialist conference. They drew the teaching elements about aging and systemized them. Third. We developed the instructional materials about aging. They were examined by some teachers and applied to the class. Teachers and students predicted the instructional materials avariable.

Development and Characteristic of Elder Education Policy in Korea (한국 노인교육정책의 전개와 특징)

  • This study purposed to explain the development process on elder education policy in Korea and to find out its characteristic. As previous studies mainly described the current situation of elder education policy to make a proposal, the analysis of the development process and its characteristic was ignored. Analyzing the government documents the elder education policy was started as a part of by considering the part in saemaul(New-village) movement, the current policy support for the elderly leads to the training of human resources. In the process, characteristic of policy are as follows, first, the policy objectives and targets has changed. And in the late 1990s, most of the established elder education policy was not to run. Finally, it is not match between policy making and implementation.

The convergent relationship between experience of elderly oral health care education by specialist and attitudes toward the elderly (치과위생사의 노인구강관리 전문가 교육경험에 따른 노인을 대하는 융합적 태도 관계)

  • Dental hygienists have received specialist training and experience to identify relationships that affect the attitude towards the elderly dental hospitals, general hospitals, working in a university hospital were survey of 264 people. The relationship between the elderly oral health specialist education experience and the attitude toward the elderly was influenced by the attitude toward the elderly (r=0.160, p<0.01), the experience of the elderly oral tissue regeneration education was related to the attitude toward the elderly (r=0.178, p<0.01), and feeding and swallowing function training education was positively correlated with the attitude toward the elderly (r=0.173, p<0.01). Therefore, it is necessary to develop curriculum in the maintenance training course for the dental hygienists who are experts in oral health care for the elderly, and to develop the curriculum for elderly dental hygiene course in the school education.
