The purpose of this study is to present an effective methodology that can measure heart rate, heart rate variability, oxygen saturation, respiration rate, mental stress level, and blood pressure using mobile front camera that can be accessed most in real life. Face recognition was performed in real-time using Blaze Face to acquire facial image data, and the forehead was designated as ROI (Region Of Interest) using feature points of the eyes, nose, and mouth, and ears. Representative values for each channel of the ROI were generated and aligned on the time axis to measure vital signs. The vital signs measurement method was based on Fourier transform, and noise was removed and filtered according to the desired vital signs to increase the accuracy of the measurement. To verify the results, vital signs measured using facial image data were compared with pulse oximeter contact sensor, and TI non-contact sensor. As a result of this work, the possibility of extracting a total of six vital signs (heart rate, heart rate variability, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, stress, and blood pressure) was confirmed through facial images.

In Korea, the frequency of soil disasters has soared recently due to increased torrential rains caused by abnormal weather conditions. In particular, soil generated from mountainous areas is flowing into small rivers along valleys, depositing rivers and adding to flood damage. In order to prevent damage from such soil disasters, it is important to predict sediments and to quantitatively identify bed load. In this work, we conducted an experiment to indirectly measure acoustic sensor-based bed load collision sounds using pipe hydrophones, and compared them with raw data by applying denoising methods to improve the reliability of the measured data. As a result, we derive results in a more clear analysis of bed load estimation by correcting noise when the denoising method is applied to raw data.

This paper proposes a method for measuring fine dust concentration through digital processing of images captured by only existing CCTVs without additional equipment. This image processing algorithm consists of noise reduction, edge sharpening, ROI setting, edge strength calculation, and correction through HSV conversion. This algorithm is implemented using the C ++ OpenCV library. The algorithm was applied to CCTV images captured over a month. The edge strength values calculated for the ROI region are found to be closely related to the fine dust concentration data. To infer the correlation between the two types fo data, a trend line in the form of a power equation is established using MATLAB. The number of data points deviating from the trend line accounts for around 12.5%. Therefore, the overall accuracy is about 87.5%.

In this paper, we propose a copyright protection scheme for real-time streaming of HEVC(High Efficiency Video Coding) based realistic content. Previous research uses encryption and modular operation for copyright pre-protection and copyright post-protection, which causes delays in ultra high resolution video. The proposed scheme maximizes parallelism by using thread pool based DRM(Digital Rights Management) packaging with only HEVC's CABAC(Context Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding) codec and GPU based high-speed bit operation(XOR), thus enabling real-time copyright protection. As a result of comparing this scheme with previous research at three resolutions, PSNR showed an average of 8 times higher performance, and the process speed showed an average of 18 times difference. In addition, as a result of comparing the robustness of the forensic mark, the filter and noise attack, which showed the largest and smallest difference, with a 27-fold difference in recompression attacks, showed an 8-fold difference.
Complex materials are widely used in aviation industries where lightweighting is essential because they have lighter properties than metals. However, composite materials can cause defects such as internal void formation, poor adhesive mixing, and non-adhesive parts during the production process, and there is a risk of micro-cracking and interlayer separation due to low energy impact. Therefore, a structural damage test is essential. As a result, structural integrity monitoring using FBG is drawing attention. Compared to conventional electrical sensors, FBG has the advantage of being more corrosion-resistant and multiplexed without being affected by electrical noise. However, interloggers measuring FBG are expensive and have a large disadvantage because they are made on the premise of measuring large structures. In this paper, low-cost interloggers were designed for use in unmanned or small aircraft using optical switche, WDM filter, and LTFs, and compared to conventional high-priced interrogator.

This paper proposes a four-stage algorithm for detecting lanes on a driving car. In the first stage, it extracts region of interests in an image. In the second stage, it employs a median filter to remove noise. In the third stage, a binary algorithm is used to classify two classes of backgrond and foreground of an input image. Finally, an image erosion algorithm is utilized to obtain clear lanes by removing noises and edges remained after the binary process. However, the proposed lane detection algorithm requires high computational time. To address this issue, this paper presents a parallel implementation of a real-time line detection algorithm on a multi-core architecture. In addition, we implement and simulate 8 different processing element (PE) architectures to select an optimal PE architecture for the target application. Experimental results indicate that 40×40 PE architecture show the best performance, energy efficiency and area efficiency.
This paper proposes a spectral modeling of Korean traditional instrument, Haegeum, using cepstral analysis to naturally describe Haegeum sounds varying with time. To get a precise result of cepstral analysis, we set the frame size to 3 periods of input signal and more cepstral coefficients are used to extract formants. The performance is enhanced by flexibly controlling the cutoff frequency of bandpass filter depending on the resonances in the synthesis process of sinusoidal components and the deleting peaks remained in the residual signal. To detect the change of pitch, we divide the input frames into silence, attack, and sustain region and determine which region the current frame is involved in. Then, the proposed method readjusts the frame size according to the fundamental frequency in the case of the current frame is in attack region and corrects the extraction errors of the fundamental frequency for the frames in sustain region. With these processes, the synthesized sounds are much more similar to the originals. The evaluation result through the listening test by a Haegeum player says that the synthesized sounds are almost similar to originals (96~100 % similar to the original sounds).
The investigation on the rock discontinuity geometry has been usually undergone by direct measurement on the rock exposures. But this sort of field work has disadvantages, which we, for example, restriction of surveying areas and consuming excessive times and labors. To cover these kinds of disadvantages, image processing could be regarded as an altemative way, with additional advantages such as automatic and objective tools when used under adequate computerized algorithm. This study was focused on the recognition of the rock discontinuities captured in the image of rock exposure by digital camera and the production of the discontinuity map automatically. The whole process was written using macro commands builtin image analyzer, ImagePro Plus. ver 4.1(Media Cybernetic). The procedure of image processing developed in this research could be divided with three steps, which are enhancement, recognition and extraction of discontinuity traces from the digital image. Enhancement contains combining and applying several filters to remove and relieve various types of noises from the image of rock surface. For the next step, recognition of discontinuity traces was executed. It used local topographic features characterized by the differences of gray scales between discontinuity and rock. Such segments of discontinuity traces extracted from the image were reformulated using an algorithm of computer decision-making criteria and linked to form complete discontinuity traces. To verify the image processing algorithms and their sequences developed in this research, discontinuity traces digitally photographed on the rock slope were analyzed. The result showed about 75~80% of discontinuities could be detected. It is thought to be necessary that the algorithms and computer codes developed in this research need to be advanced further especially in combining digital filters to produce images to be more acceptable for extraction of discontinuity traces and setting seed pixels automatically when linking trace segments to make a complete discontinuity trace.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare the quality of digital X-ray imaging system. The image quality evaluation was conducted By using Modulation transfer function indicating the quantitative resolution of the image and the noise power spectrum showing the noise characteristics. Using a IEC61267 radiation quality was applied to the geometry to be used in clinical and geometry presented in IEC62220-1 and Additional filter, grid, the clinical dose and the MTF value of edge phantom was measured. Result of the MTF corresponding to each item(Grid, Filter, SID, kVp, mAs), the clinical condition 100cm, 180cm, measurements of the spatial frequency of the MTF IEC62220-1Geometry 150cm became similarly apparent, rather spatial frequency was also the case high in clinical conditions 100cm. NPS results, as the dose(mAs) is increased, NPS showed that reduced. The image quality evaluation using IEC61267 the Radiation quality, Image quality of the video using the clinical conditions Geometry than image quality evaluation using IEC62220-1Geometry was better. It shows that MTF and NPC in IEC and clinical condition were not significantly different. In order to apply the evaluation method of image quality applied with clinical conditions rather than the future method, to be presented evaluation of IEC standard, based on the results of the image characterization studies in this paper, the methods that shows good quality of spatial resolution and decrease NPS value as the least dose, used suitable parameters for whether or not using added filter, grid, change SID and clinical quality(kVp), dose(mAs) etc should be found. then It is believed to be able to properly maintain the actual quality of the image of the digital radiographic imaging system in clinical.

We propose a smart ocean meteorological observation system which is capable of real-time measurement of vulnerable marine climate and oceanographic conditions. Besides, imported products have several disadvantages such that they can't be measured for a long time and can't transmit data in real time. In the proposed system, smart ocean observation digging system, it observes real-time ocean weather with data logger methods. Furthermore, we also use existing dataloggers functions with various sensors which are available in the ocean at the same time. Also, we applied the Kalman-filter algorithm to the ocean crest measurement to reduce the noise and increase the accuracy of the real-time wave height measurement. In the experiment, we experimented the proposed system with our proposed algorithms through calibration devices in the real ocean environment. Then we compared the proposed system with and without the algorithms. As a result, the system developed with a lithium iron phosphate battery that can be charged by a system used in the ocean and minimized power consumption by using an RTC based timer for optimal use. Besides, we obtained optimal battery usage and measured values through experiments based on the measurement cycle.
