Characteristics of Puffer Fish Poisoning Outbreaks in Korea (1991-2002) (대한민국에서 복어독에 의한 식중독 발생 특성)

  • The data on outbreaks of puffer fish poisoning during 1991 to 2002 in Korea were gathered from press reports, and characterized information collected. During the period, a total of 32 outbreaks of puffer fish poisoning was reported. These outbreaks caused 111 persons to become poisoning, among the cases 30 persons were fatal. The mean case fatality rate was 27.0%, and most of deaths (93.3%) were the male of above 29 years old. Patient number of below 4 persons per a poisoning accident occupied 75.0% of total outbreaks; 65.8% of total cases; and 66.7% of total deaths) was occurred in the months, November through January. Most of puffer fish poisoning (75.0% of total outbreaks; 68.5% of total cases; and 73.3% of total deaths) were found along the south coastal area of Korea, including Busan, Gyeongsangnam-do, Jeollanam-do and Jeju-do. Over than 80% of puffer fish poisoning outbreaks occurred at fishing boat and home where privately made food was cause, and outbreaks in restaurants accounted for 15.6%. Most commonly implicated foods were Guk, boiled soup with puffer fish meat and spices.

Effects of Dietary n-3 Highly Unsaturated Fatty Acids on Growth and Biochemical Changes in the Korean Rockfish Sebastes schlegeli I. Growth and Body Composition (사료의 n-3계 고도불포화지방산 함량에 따른 조피볼락 Sebastes schlegeli의 성장 및 생화학적 변화 I. 성장효과 및 체성분의 변화)

  • In order to investigate the effects of dietary n-3 highly unsaturated fatty acids (n-3HUF A) levels on growth and body composition of the Korean rockfish, six experimental diets with various levels of n-3HUFA, which were adjusted by adding squid liver oil and/or soybean oil at $8\%$ dietary lipid level, were fed to the Korean rockfish (6.2g in mean body weight) for 10 weeks. Daily weight gain, feed efficiency and nutrient retention efficiency were the lowest in the fish fed a diet containing 0% n-3HUFA. These parameters were effectively improved by supplementation with n-3HUFA, and showed linear increase up to $1.2\%$ dietary n-3HUFA level (P<0.01). There was no additional response above this level. A higher concentration of nonpolar lipids in the liver was observed for the fish fed insufficient levels of n-3HUFA in the diets. However the liver glycogen content and hepatosomatic index were slightly deareased. The lipid contents of the whole body and vicera showed significantly higher in the fish fed sufficient levels of n-3HUFA in the diets (P<0.05). The fatty acid compositions of polar lipids in the whole body and liver were affected by dietary fatty acid compositions. The contents of n-3HUFA and 18:1 in the liver increased with increasing the n-3HUFA level in the diets, while the 18:2n-6 and 18: 3n-3 decreased. These results suggest that n-3HUFA plays an essential role for normal growth of the Korean rockfish, and the requirement of n-3HUF A is around $1.2\%$ of the diet.

Effects of Saury Meat on Antihyperlipidemic and Antiarteriosclerosis Activities in Sprague-Dawley Rats (꽁치육의 고지혈증 유발 쥐에서의 항고지혈증 및 항동맥경화증 효능)

  • The effects of dietary supplementation of pacific saury on anti-hyperlipidemic activities were investigated using an animal test study in which normal rats were fed four different parts of saury, such as the whole body, meat, internal organs, or a mixture of head, caudal fin, and bone. Serum total lipid and triglyceride levels were significantly (p<0.05) reduced in rats fed saury meat at a dose of 200 mg/kg of body weight compared to hyperlipidemic control rats. There were also significant decreases in serum total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels in the rats fed saury meat at 200 mg/kg of body weight. In addition, the atheroscrelosis index and superoxide dismutase in blood lipids were significantly (p<0.05) lowered in rats fed saury meat at 200 mg/kg of body weight compared to the control rats. In conclusion, our results indicate that saury meat contains unknown physiologically active components as than compared to other parts of saury, and has potential for use in the prevention of hyperlipidemic arteriosclerosis.

  • In this paper we propose both the construction of image DB including information on the shooting location and direction of the captured outdoor images and the efficient retrieval method from the DB. Furthermore, for the automatic extraction of the location and direction information, we suggest to have the Digital Camera equipped with an expandable GPS modulo which has a function to calculate the location and direction and also to utilize GPS IFD tags in the EXIF. Then that will make it possible for us to retrieve quickly and precisely the target image with its geography and other objects on the ground included. In the previous retrieval method based only on the location, we eel some extra useless images due to the fact that all the images in the ROI(Region Of Interest) are searched on one condition, radius. However, with the proposed method in this paper, we can not only retrieve all the images selectively within the ROI but also achieve nearly 100% of precision when we search for the target images within DOI(Direction Of Interest) with another condition, direction, added. Applying this method to an image retrieval system, we can classify or retrieve natural images based on the location and direction information, which, in turn, will be vitally useful to diverse industrial fields such as disaster alarm system, fire and disaster prevention system, traffic information system, and so forth.

  • Differently from an existing analog control, because the digital control includes microprocessor basically, the digital control is enable to monitor internal parameters of DC-DC converter and to control output voltage remotely by communicating with a Windows based PC. These things are impossible in an analog control and there are more advantages in a digital control than an analog control. In this paper, with the advantages mentioned above, the feasibility of digital controlled DC-DC converter in low price is proposed. In order to implement these functions, it is used the inexpensive H8/3672 made by Renesas that has built in AD converters and PWM logic generators. The proposed digital controller is applied to a flyback converter that is designed to output DC 5[V] from DC 20∼30[V] and is remotely controlled to make variable outputs from DC 0[V] to 5[V] above in PC. The PWM controller adopts the PD controller in PID. In the last, the response characteristics of a step reference voltage and in a steady state are experimented to verify the feasibility and the usefulness of the proposed flyback converter that is implemented inexpensively.

  • Transsynaptic tracer이며 신경친화성 virus인 pseudorabies virus(PRV)를 방광(膀胱), 방광유(膀胱兪), 위중(委中) 및 중추(中極)에 주입(注入)한 후 4일간의 생존기간이 경과한 후 희생시켜 면역조직화학침액법(免疫組織化學染色法)에 의하여 뇌척수에 표지된 공통된 영역들을 비교하여 관찰한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 방광벽(膀胱壁), 방광유(膀胱兪), 위중(委中) 및 중추(中極)에서 척수에 투사된 영역은 흉수(胸髓), 요수(腰髓) 및 천수(薦髓)에 모두 표지되었으며 공통적으로 표지된 부위는 척수(脊髓)의 층판 IV, V, VII, IX, X영역에 표지되었으나 주로 강하게 표지된 공통된 영역은 층판 VII의 중간외측핵, 가슴기둥 및 층판 X영역이었다. 2. 방광벽(膀胱壁), 방광유(膀胱兪), 위중(委中) 및 중추(中極)에서 뇌(腦)에 투사된 공통된 영역은 연수(延髓)에서는 A1 noradrenalin cells/C1 adrenalin cells/caudoventrolateral reticular nucleus에서 양성반응을 나타내었다. 솔기핵의 경우 아핵인 불명솔기핵, 창백솔기핵 및 큰솔기핵에서 양성반응을 보였다. 다리뇌에서는 청색반점, Barrington's nucleus, A5세포군 및 삼차신경운동핵에서 양성반응을 보였고, 중뇌에서는 눈돌림신경핵, 눈돌림신경섬유 및 다리핵에서 양성반응을 보였다. 간뇌에서는 시상하부(視床下部)의 뇌실(腦室)곁핵과 시상의 뇌실곁핵에서 양성반응을 보였고 대뇌(大腦)에서는 septal nucleus, 피질(皮質)의 뒷다리영역, 마루엽, 이마엽에서 양성반응을 보였다. 이상의 결과를 종합하면 방광(膀胱)에서 투사되는 뇌척수의 영역과 방광유(膀胱兪)나 위중(委中)에서 투사되는 공통된 표지영역들은 방광(膀胱)과 족태양방광경(足太陽膀胱經) 그리고 그 경락(經絡)의 경혈(經穴)들이 어떤 상관성(相關性)을 가지고 연결(連結)되어 있다는 사실을 실험적으로 알 수 있었다. 특히 방광(膀胱)과 방광유(膀胱兪), 위중(委中)에서 투사된 공통된 표지영역, 즉 배뇨중추인 Barrington's nucleus에 표지되는 것은 내장(內臟)-경락(經絡)이 central autonomic pathway에 의하여 서로 연결되었음을 입증하는 중요한 결과(結果)라고 사려(思慮)된다.

Stictodora fuscatum (Heterophyidae) metacercariae encysted in gobies, Aconthogobius flavimanus (문절망둑(Acauhogobius flavimanus)에서 획득한 Stictodora fuscatum의 피낭유충)

  • The metacercanae of the genus Stictodora encysted in gobies, Acnnthogobiln Snuimanw, purchased from a local market of Haenarn-gun, Chollanam-do, were identified as those of S. fuscotum A total of 1,437 metacercariae were collected from 30 gobies and sonle of them were orally fed to cats in order to obtain the adult worms. The metacercariae were 0.194-0.301 mm by 0.168-0.270 mm In size, yellowish brown, round to elliptical, and with a thin and transparent cyst wall. The excysted larvae were 0.280-0.423 mm long and 0.150-0.184 mm wide, beset with numerous tegumental spines on the anterior half of the body, and equipped 10 a characteristic ventrogenital sac. Total 21 adult worms were recovered from 2 cats 7 days after infection. The adult worms were small, leaf-like, 0.514-0.918 mm long and 0.235-0.377 mm wide. The ventrogenital sac was elliptical and its gonotyl was armed with 13-18 spines which were radially arranged and appeared as fan-shape. It has been confirmed that A. flavimanus is a second interinedlate host of 5. Juscatum In Korea.

  • Despite the importance and function of productivity information, in the Korean construction industry, the method of collecting and analyzing productivity data has not been organized. Also, in most cases, productivity management is reliant on the experience and intuitions of field managers, and productivity data are rarely being utilized in planning and management. Accordingly, this study intends to develop a prediction model for interior finishes of apartment using deep learning techniques, so as to provide a foundation for analyzing the productivity impacting factors and predicting productivity. The result of the study, productivity prediction model for interior finishes of apartment using deep learning techniques, can be a basic module of apartment project management system by applying deep learning to reliable productivity data and developing as data is accumulated in the future. It can also be used in project engineering processes such as estimating work, calculating work days for process planning, and calculating input labor based on productivity data from similar projects in the past. Further, when productivity diverging from predicted productivity is discovered during construction, it is expected that it will be possible to analyze the cause(s) thereof and implement prompt response and preventive measures.

Evaluation of nitrogen oxide removal characteristics using TiO2 (TiO2를 이용한 질소산화물 제거 특성 평가)

  • Fine dust in air pollutants is recognized as one of the most serious social environmental problems. Most of the NOx is generated in a combustion process such as that of a coal-fired power plant, and therefore efficient elimination of the NOx from the coal-fired power plants is needed. This study investigates the removal efficiency of using $TiO_2$, a photocatalyst, to remove NOx by Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). To evaluate the NOx removal efficiency, $TiO_2$ catalyst and phosphate binder were mixed on the surface of the $Al_2O_3$ substrate with the exothermic agent, and the substrate was heat-treated. The NOx removal efficiency of the catalysts was evaluated according to the temperature, and XRD, SEM, TG-DTA and BET analyzes were performed to investigate the physicochemical properties of the catalysts. NOx removal efficiency was 58.7%~65.9% at 20min, 63.7~66.0% at 30min with temperature change according to time($250^{\circ}C{\sim}500^{\circ}C$). The $TiO_2$ used in the SCR for NOx removal is judged to have the most efficient removal efficiency at $300^{\circ}C$.

How to Generate Lightweight S-Boxes by Using AND Gate Accumulation (AND 연산자 축적을 통한 경량 S-boxes 생성방법)

  • Due to the impact of COVID-19, people are paying attention to convenience and health, and the use of IoT devices to help them is increasing. In order to embed a lightweight security element in IoT devices that need to handle sensitive information even with limited resources, the development of a lightweight S-box is essential. Until 2021, it was common to develop a lightweight 4-bit S-box by a heuristic method, and to develop an extended structure or repeat the same operation for a larger size lightweight S-box. However, in January 2022, a paper that proposed a heuristic algorithm to find an 8-bit S-box with better differential uniformity and linearity than the S-box generated with an MISTY extended structure, although non-bijective, was published [1]. The heuristic algorithm proposed in this paper generates an S-box by adding AND operations one by one. Whenever an AND operation is added, they use a method that pre-removes the S-box for which the calculated differential uniformity does not reach the desired criterion. In this paper, we improve the performance of this heuristic algorithm. By increasing the amount of pre-removal using not only differential uniformity but also other differential property, and adding a process of calculating linearity for pre-removing, it is possible to satisfy not only differential security but also linear security.
