Recently, the size of the IoT sensor has been decreased and the collecting direction of the IoT sensor for acquiring the data have been changed from 2D to 3D. It makes sensor structure complex. In the fabrication of the complex structure, 3D printing technology has more useful than traditional manufacturing technologies. Among 3D printing technologies, FDM (fused deposition modeling) is a candidate technology to fabricate a small IoT sensor because the price of the machine and the material is cheap. In the FDM process, a 3D shape is made by depositing the melted filament. Recently, the patent of FDM technology is expired and cheat machines are developed based on the open-source. In the FDM process, mechanical properties of a fabricated part is affected by a lots of factors such as the kind of material and process parameters. Among them, infill is affecting the mechanical properties and the production lead time as well. In this work, a new method to optimize the FDM process with the consideration of mechanical property and production lead time was proposed. To verify the method, the fabrications were performed with the different infill rates. The results of tensile tests were analyzed to verify the proposed method.
In this study, Generally sandbag was used to reinforce slope or restore levee by using the in-situ material. To increase shear strength of sandbag, the Velcro system was effective for geosynthetic interface and make up for the weakness of shear strength between sandbag to sandbag. In this study, shear properties of geosynthetic-geosynthetic and geosynthetic-soil were evaluated from large scale direct shear tests. The cohesion and the angle of internal friction of each interface was evaluated. And laboratory model tests were performed to compare strength of reinforcement with strength of none reinforcement. As a result of this study, the cohesion and the angle of internal friction of each interface was increased, especially the cohesion was increased more than the angle of internal friction. Also according to the result of model test, the bearing capacity was increased by 20%.
In the companion paper (Paik 2006), a new formulation for calculating the nonlinearly distributed active earth pressure acting on a caisson backfilled with crushed rock and sand is proposed, and it takes into account arching effects as well as difference in internal friction angles and unit weights between sand and crushed rock. In this study, in order to partially check the accuracy of the proposed equation, the results of the proposed equation are compared with the equation proposed by Paik (2003a) for caissons with rough surface and homogeneous backfill, and are compared with results of Rankine's theory for caissons with smooth surface and homogeneous backfill. In addition, a parametric study is performed to investigate the effect of $phi_{r}$, $phi_{s}$, $\delta_{r}$, $\gamma_{r}$, $\gamma_{s}$ and $\beta$ on the magnitude of active earth pressure acting on the caisson, and construction methods for minimizing active earth pressure on the caisson are also provided based on the results of a parametric study.
The high porosity of the infill pattern of carbon chopped fiber-reinforced Nylon composite structures fabricated by the fused filament fabrication (FFF) type 3D printers determines the mechanical performance of the printed structures. This study experimentally evaluated the mechanical performance of Onyx composite specimens fabricated with a rectangular infill structure under the hot-pressing condition to improve the mechanical properties by reducing the porosity of the infill pattern of the printed structure, and evaluated the best mechanical performance. The hot-pressing conditions (145℃, 4 MPa, 12 min) that induce the most appropriate mechanical properties were found. As a result of microscopic observation, it was confirmed that the infill porosity of the composite specimens subjected to post hot-pressing treatment was effectively reduced. In order to confirm the mechanical performance of the post-treated specimen, a tensile test and a three-point bending test were performed with a control specimen without post-treatment and a specimen printed with the same density and dimensions after post-treatment to evaluate the mechanical properties. As a result of comparison, it was confirmed that the mechanical properties were effectively improved when the post-treatment of hot-pressing was performed.

Plowable fill is generally a mixture of sand, fly ash, a small amount of cement and water. Sand is the major component of most flowable fill mixes. Marine dredged soil was adopted for flowable fill instead of fly ash. Natural sea sand and in-situ soil were used for comparison. The flow behavior, hardening characteristics, and ultimate strength behavior of flowable fill were investigated. The unconfined compression test necessary to sustain walkability as the fresh flowble fill hardens was determined and the strength at 3-days appeared to correlate well with the water-to-cement ratio. The strength parameters, like cohesion and internal friction angle, was determined along the curing time. The creep test for settlement potential was conducted. Also, potable falling weight deflectometer(PFWD) test has been carried out for elastic modulus of each controlled low strength materials(CLSM). The data presented show that marine dredged soil and in-situ soil can be successfully used in CLSM.
Intensive researches have been focused on the 3-dimensional packaging technology using through silicon via (TSV) to overcome the limitation in Cu interconnection scaling. Void-free filling of TSV by the Cu electrodeposition is required for the fabrication of reliable electronic devices. It is generally known that sufficient inhibition on the top and the sidewall of TSV, accompanying the selective Cu deposition on the bottom, enables the void-free bottom-up filling. Organic additives contained in the electrolyte locally determine the deposition rate of Cu inside the TSV. Investigation on the additive chemistry is essential for understanding the filling mechanisms of TSV based on the effects of additives in the Cu electrodeposition process. In this review, we introduce various filling mechanisms suggested by analyzing the additives effect, research on the three-additive system containing new levelers synthesized to increase efficiency of the filling process, and methods to improve the filling performance by modifying the functional groups of the additives or deposition mode.
Geotextile tubes hydraulically or mechanically filled with dredged materials have been applied in hydraulic and coastal engineering in recent years(detached breakwater, groins and jetty). The geotextile tubes are made of sewn geosynthetics sheets. If the sandy soil is use to fill material, these inlets should be spaced closely to assure uniform filling of the tubes because sandy soil and geosynthetic is very pervious. However, the clayey soil or contaminated slurry is used, the inlets can be located relatively long distance. The fine clayey particles tend to rapidly blind the fabric slowing down water escape through the geotextile. This paper presents a field test result of a geotextile tube in the land reclamation project for the Songdo New City construction site. The dredged silty clay was dredged by the dredging ship and hydraulically pumped into the geotextile tube. The height of geotextile tube was measured at every filling stage and also measured width and diameter of geotextile tube with the elapsed time. Based on the test results, if the clayey filling material is used, the pumping step must be divided 3~4 stages for drainage and sediment. After complete drainage, the height of the geotextile tube reduces by approximately 50%.
The air quality near the backfilled site area is significantly deteriorated during and even after the curing period of the backfill materials. Hazardous gases such as NH3 and CO2 may leak out prolongedly from the mined-out sites backfilled with the composite carbonate-based material; leakage can be observed at the underground working sites as well as on the surface. At operating mines, underground gas leakage will severely aggravate the workplace environment. The ventilation schemes should supply sufficient air to dilute the contaminated air, and control the toxic gas leakage and dispersion. This study shows the applicability of pressurization ventilation system to control gas leakage and dispersion at the backfilled underground mine site.

A series of tests were conducted to examine the filled tube shape with respect to the filling module type used and to investigate cone resistance properties of a dredged-soil-filled geotextile tube under water and drained conditions. Results based on the filling observation showed that the distribution of the accumulated fills inside the acrylic cell and vinyl tubes differs with respect to the type of filling modules. A crater formation around the inlet area was found during the test using I-type filling module and a horizontal sediment distribution was found during the test using inverse T-Type filling module. The dredged fill material was obtained from the Saemangeum area. The geotextile tube deformation of each filling stage was almost converged when the tube was fully drained. The cone resistance of the dredged fill in the geotextile tube under drained condition is large and is approximately 2~6 times that of the tube under water condition.
