A Emotional Labor and Exhaustion as a Predictor of Job Performance and Turnover Intention in Chinse Service Industry: The Moderating Role of Perceived Organizational Support (중국 서비스 종업원들의 직무성과와 이직의도에 미치는 감정노동과 감정소모의 영향: 지각된 조직지원의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this paper is to attempt to investigate how emotional labor strategies (i.e. surface acting and deep acting) affect job performance and turnover intention thorough emotional exhaustion. Another important objective of this study was to see whether perceived organizational support (POS) moderates the relationship between emotional labor strategies and emotional exhaustion. Structural equation modeling analysis provided support for the hypotheses from a sample of 225 China department store sales employees. The results revealed that surface acting has a positive influence on emotional exhaustion, whereas deep acting has not significant influence on emotional exhaustion. Second, emotional exhaustion has a negative influence on job performance, whereas it has a positive influence on turnover intention. In addition, the relationship between surface acting and job performance/turnover intention was significantly mediated by emotional exhaustion. Furthermore, perceived organizational supporting mitigated the negative relationship between deep acting and emotional exhaustion. The findings of this study contributed to the literature by identifying the relationship between surface and deep acting on employee outcomes (i.e. emotional exhaustion, job performance, turnover intention), especially in China. In addition, this study also confirmed the important buffering role of POS based on the norm of reciprocity between an organization and its members.

The Mediating Effects of Social Support on the Relation between Emotional Labor and Organizational Commitment of Franchise Food Service Industry Employees (프랜차이즈 외식업체 종사자의 감정노동과 조직몰입 관계에서 사회적지지의 매개효과 분석)

  • This empirical study examined the relationships among emotional labor, social support, and organizational commitment of franchise food service industry employees, and analyzed the mediating effects of social support from the fellow and director on the relationship between emotional labor and organizational commitment. A total of 268 employees in the franchise food service industry, such as fast food, chicken, and coffee in Seoul, were analyzed by frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation model analysis using the SPSS Program. The results of verifying the research hypotheses could be summarized as follows. First, the surface emotional labor of franchise food service industry employees had negative effects on the organizational commitment. Deep emotional labor had significant positive effects on the organizational commitment, and fellow and director support had significant positive effects on the organizational commitment. Second, the social support from the fellow and director had partially mediating effects on the relationship between emotional labor and organizational commitment. This suggests that emotional labor and social support play essential roles in enhancing the organizational commitment of franchise food service industry employees.

An Efficient Dynamic Workload Balancing Strategy (리트윗 행위의 동기, 이유와 가치: 요인 분석)

  • The study aims at exploring motivation, rationale, and values in twitter users' retweet behavior. It proposes that diffusion of message is based on the complex interactional relationships among attributes of original message, user's rationale, and values. Based on a pilot study, we constructed a total of 34 questions asking message attributes, motivation, and values of retweeting. Then, twitter users participated in an online survey, in which they evaluate their own 5 retweet messages based on the constructed questions(5 messages ${\times}$ 34 questions = 170). Then, a factor analysis is done in order to see the dimensions of the concepts in retweet behavior; and understand how message attributes, motivations, and values are inter-related with each other. The main factors extracted were: (1) public fairness, (2) fun and playfulness, (3) communal help, (4) news and information, etc. Factor 2 and 4 show the traditional journalism characteristics; while factor 1 and 3 do alternative journalistic values. The latter may work as a rectifying factors for traditional journalism; however, backfiring mechanism for group polarization. In addition, (1) users' internal identities, (2) communal unity and (3) belongness were identified as rationales and values for retweet behavior.

Influence of Food-Industry Workers' Emotional Labor on the Turnover Intention and Job Burnout: Moderating Effect of Job Satisfaction (외식업체 종사원들의 감정노동이 직무소진과 이직의도에 미치는 영향: 직무만족의 조절효과)

  • This study engaged food-service industry workers in Busan (casual dining restaurants and buffets) to investigate the moderating effect of job satisfaction on the influence of emotional labor on turnover intention and job burnout. To accomplish the goal of this study, the statistical programs SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 were employed for frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability, and confirmatory factor analysis of responses from f 278 respondents. An examination was conducted to prove the hypothesis based on a structural equation model. There are two sub factors of emotional labor, surface acting and deep acting. According to the result of this study, surface acting has a positive influence (+) on job burnout (exhaustion) while deep acting has a negative influence(-). In addition, job burnout showed a positive influence (+) on turnover intention. It has been revealed that job satisfaction has a moderating effect on the path from deep acting to job burnout. Having considered that job burnout of food-service workers in Busan was related to deep acting, one of sub factors of emotional labors, promoting deep acting appears to be the way of reducing both job burnout and the number of people with turnover intention. Therefore, it is necessary for restaurant owners and CEOs to implement employee training and improve employee benefits in order to promote the deep acting of their employees.

The Effect of Leader Emotional Labor on Followers' Work Engagement : Examining the Role of Followers' PsyCap and Quality of LMX (리더의 감정노동이 부하의 직무몰입에 미치는 영향 : 심리적 자본과 상사-부하관계의 효과 연구)

  • Almost all research on emotional labor has focused on how services workers use emotional labor. However, this study examined that leaders' emotional labor influence follower's outcomes. Especially, this study tested how the leader emotional labor influence followers' work engagement and mediating role of PsyCap between leader emotional labor and followers' work engagement. In addition, this study investigated the quality of LMX as moderator the relationship between leader emotional labor and followers' work engagement. The SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 24.0 was used in this study. The results collected from 469 employees in domestic large Telecom and their related companies revealed that leader emotional labor positively influence followers' work engagement and PsyCap. Especially, leader deep acting and surface acting positively influence followers' work engagement, but not display of genuine emotion, and leader deep acting only positively influence followers' PsyCap. Furthermore, followers' PsyCap partially mediated the relationship between leader emotional labor and followers' work engagement. Finally, the quality of LMX as moderator in link between leader emotional labor and followers' work engagement showed when followers in high-quality LMX. Implication and suggestion for future study are discussed.

Contribution of Emotional Labor to Burnout and Work Engagement of School Foodservice Employees in Daegu and Gyeongbuk Province (대구·경북 일부지역 학교급식 조리종사자의 감정노동이 직무 소진 및 직무 열의에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze differences in emotional labor strategies, burnout, and work engagement according to general characteristics of school foodservice employees as well as verify differential effects of two emotional labor strategies on burnout and work engagement. Our survey was administered to 400 school foodservice employees in Gyeongbuk from March 3 to April 25, 2014. A total of 358 completed questionnaires were returned, and 350 questionnaires were used for final analysis. For verification of mean differences, the mean scores for surface acting, deep acting, burnout, and work engagement were shown to be 2.38/5.00, 3.46, 2.67, and 3.41, respectively. The mean surface acting was significantly different according to cooking certification (P<0.001), turnover number (P<0.001), salary (P<0.001), and school level (P<0.01). The mean deep acting was significantly different according to educational background (P<0.001), cooking certification (P<0.001), employment status (P<0.001), salary (P<0.001), school level (P<0.01), and meal service time (P<0.05). The mean burnout was significantly different according to educational background (P<0.01), cooking certification (P<0.05), employment status (P<0.001), school level (P<0.001), and meal service time (P<0.001). The mean work engagement was significantly different according to cooking certification (P<0.001), employment satus (P<0.001), salary (P<0.001), school level (P<0.01), and meal service time (P<0.05). Verification of causal models found that surface acting and deep acting increased burnout and deep acting, respectively (research model). Additionally, surface acting did not influence work engagement, and deep acting did not influence burnout (alternative models). In other words, we identified that emotional labor strategies have differential influences on burnout and work engagement. Finally, implications and limitations of this study are discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide data for the development of a nursing intervention program by analyzing the concept of prisoner correction. From April 1st, 2016, to July 30th, the research literature on all domestic and international prisoner correction from 2011 to 2015 were searched using PubMed and NDSL RISS. 37 documents were analyzed according to conceptual analysis method procedures by Walker and Avant. In order to promote a positive attitude toward life through internal reflection of prisoner correction, individual characteristics for improvements in problem solving abilities, social adaptation abilities, re-socialization and the protection of the people and society to inmates displaying anti-social and moral behaviors that violated the law. The purpose of this study was to establish a desirable direction for prisoner correction, and provide a theoretical basis for the development of a nursing intervention program.

  • Design securing a dominant position currently in the global market has shown inherent culture of each country, i.d. national disposition. For instancess, there are Scandinavia emphasizing humanism, America adopting pragmatism, Germany reflecting the rational principle, Spain reflecting the daily an, Italian design being rationalism and impressionism. The members of society shall be under the control of the already formed social-cultural value and character. So culture shall restrict the internal manner of social behaviour and apply pressure to the action of main body. Also culture shall be under the control of social environment and each culture shall be materialized as per the disposition of the members of society. Now korean design has been attracted lots of interests and attention from global market because it is excellent in the aspect of application capability for new technology and also suggests the image of design produced through them. Now Korean design shall run side by side the application for formative element to be recognized by technical design as well as korean identity. So dear definition for national and cultural disposition shall be required to korean design education and design development. These prescribed efforts shall be a shortcut for globalization of korean design.

A Study on the Character Type and Image-telling in Drama (<미스터 션샤인>의 인물유형과 이미지텔링)

  • This paper analyzes the types of characters in the drama by applying Gremas's Actantial model and Enneagram's character typology and examines how they are shaped. As the Korean Wave is important, it is necessary to study the type of characters and how to describe them. Character is the most important factor in the influence of drama. As a result of applying to the Actantial model, and the following results were obtained. The main subjects are Yu-jin Choi and Ko Ae-sin, the Helpers are many people helping the subject, the opponent is the pro-Japanese figures, the Sender is Gojong, and the recivers are the people of Joseon. Analysis results by personality type of Enneagram, it was found that the subjects are 3 and 5 type, the Helpers are various types, the opponent is 3 type, the Sender is 5 type, and the receivers all types. In the method of describing the subject, internal description (direct description) is used, and the other is only formed by indirect description. Some of the Helpers and the Sender are used an image-telling method to show the inside. However, the opponent is image-telling only to show indirectly. As a result, it was possible to confirm the differences and effects on the method of image-telling by character type.

The Study on Relation and Structure of Social Network Service User's Motivation (소셜 네트워크 서비스 이용 동기의 다차원적 구조 및 영향관계)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore key factors that influence the intention of continuous use of social network service users in the online environment. Since the intention of continuous use is one of the most critical factors in the profit model of social network service, the findings of this study should be useful to the SNS firms. This study use the personal and network aspects as major behavior intention of that influence user's attachment to a social network service. The results are summarized as follows. First, use motivation in self-determination have effects on emotional attachment, information sharing intention, loyalty. The world's most leading social network services now, the social network service has developed very fast as a kind of new online service. During the past few years, the number of Twitter's registered users around the world has already exceeded 170 million. Not only have the United Sates, many countries around the world have also been hit by the wave of SNS, including those in Korea. Since the intention of continuous use is one of the most critical factors in the profit model of social network service, the findings of this study should be useful to the SNS firms. We need to continue the study of social network.
