설태의 형광특성 - 설태 형광현상의 발현기전 소개 및 제안 - (Fluorescence of Tongue Coat - Mechanism of Tongue Coat Fluorescence and Suggestions on Development of Digital Tongue Diagnosis System -)

  • In traditional Korean medicine, inspection of the tongue is an important method of making medical diagnoses and determining prognosis. We surveyed the fluorescence characteristics of the tongue coat in the ultraviolet light. The tongue coat comprises micro-organisms, blood metabolites, leukocytes from periodontal pockets, large amounts of desquamated epithelial cells released from the oral mucosa and different nutrients. In the ultraviolet light tissues of the oral cavity generally emit weak red or green fluorescence, which is not easily seen by the human eye, but is readily detected. This fluorescence has been proved to be due to the production of porphyrins by oral micro-organisms. While the composition of motile micro-organisms on the dorsum of the tongue is not constant, variations also occur persistingly in the fluorescence characteristics of the tongue coat. But because live bacteria contain a variety of intracellular biomolecules that have specific excitation and emission wavelength spectra characterizing their intrinsic fluorescence, the tongue coat emits fluorescence. the tongue itself, on the other hand, emits very weak or not fluorescence. In conclusion, we suggests that the uncoated tongue area be eliminated from the coated tongue area with the difference between the fluorescence characteristics of the tongue and that of the tongue coat.

골반동작을 이용한 체간조절이 편마비 환자의 족저압에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Trunk Control Using Pelvic Movements upon the Foot Pressure in Patients with Hemiplegia)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine effect of trunk control using pelvic movements upon the foot pressure in patients with hemiplegia. Methods: Twelve males with hemiplegia were the procedure executed turnk control using pelvic movements. The foot pressure were measured using Parotec-system. Results: The data were analysed with paired t-test. First, there was a significant increase in external and internal sensors of dynamic foot pressure change of the hindfoot before and after therapy. Also there was significant increase in hallux (p<0.05). Second, there was a significant increase of affected side in support phase(p<0.05) and decreased of affected side in overlapping phase(p<0.05). Third, there was a significant increase in foot floor contact time and impulse pressure rate between affected and non affected side(p<0.05). Conclusion: The trunk control with pelvic movement had an significant effect on the legs by increase activities of hip flexors and abductors. Also had an effect on ankle dorsiflexion and plantar flexor by biomechanical movement.

  • Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome (FHCS)은 골반 내 염증과 동반된 간조직 주위염으로, 담도계 질환과 혼돈되는 우측 상복부 통증이 특징이다. 최근 한국에서도 청소년의 성적 접촉 시작 연령이 빨라짐에 따라 이와 같은 증후군의 발생률 또한 증가할 것으로 예측된다. 저자들은 역동적 복부 전산화 단층 촬영을 이용하여 동맥기의 비정상적인 간주위 피막의 조영 증강 양상으로 진단한 Fitz-Hugh-Curtis Syndrome 2례를 보고하고자 한다.

조류를 이용한 시화호 및 시화호 유입수 내 중금속 물질의 독성 평가 연구 (Toxicity Assessment of Heavy Metals in Shihwa Lake and Its Tributaries using the Algae)

  • This research investigates how using algae as an ecotoxicological test species is easier than using daphnia for identifying toxic causative substances. From the results of the ecotoxicity measurements on the Shihwa lake and its tributaries, heavy metals were considered as one of major factors in causing toxicity. The algae ecotoxicity value was 9.6 while the daphnia ecotoxicity value was 0.8 in the Jeongwang stream. By using algae as the test species, we could identify the toxicity that causes heavy metals which might otherwise have been missed with only daphnia. The results from the EDTA addition test showed that zinc and copper were the main toxic causative substances in the Jeongwang stream and Gunja stream.

급성 크롬산 중독으로 인한 다발성 장기 부전 1례 (A Case of Multi-organ Failure due to Acute Chromic Acid Poisoning)

  • Chromic acid is a strong metal acid and acute poisoning is very rare. However, chromic acid causes serious complications, such as skin injuries, as well as renal and hepatic failure. We report on a case of a 47-year-old male who accidentally had chromic acid spilled over his nose and face. For the first few days, he was treated with ascorbic acid and massive hydration. However, after three days, his condition began to worsen. He was treated with hemodialysis for anuria and acute renal failure, and antibiotics for pneumonia. On day 10 of hospitalization, he expired of multi-organ failure. We suggest firm control and close supervision of chromic acid in the work place, and, considering severe complications of chromic acid, we propose a nearly and aggressive treatment.

대하(帶下)에 대(對)한 문헌적(文獻的) 고찰(考察) (Study of the oriental medical literature for morbid leukorrhea)

  • The general conception of morbid leukorrhea is confused in its clinical application. Therefore, this studt was conducted to examine this conception based on terminology of morbid leukorrhea centering around historical literatures. The result of this study is summarized as follows. 1. Morbid leukorrhea had been considered as a disease of all women before Shou period, and then it was subdivided. 2. It was shown that morbid leukorrhea, spontaneous emission, whitish and turbid urine, and dysentery were treated by the same mwthod because their exposed regions and conditions were very similar. For this reason, it was confused to define terminology of morbid leukorrhea. 3. It was also shown that there existed both terminologies of morbid leukoeehea, as its conception in a board sense, even in Sikryoboncho. After that, however, only terminology of morbid leukorrhea was used. Currently, these terminologies tended to be used together. 4. In case of its conception in a board sense, morbid leukorrhea means all gynecological disease and syndrome of the lower burner which cause diseases in the belt channel 5. In case of its conceptio of a narrow sense, morbid leukorrhea implies disease in the front middle regions of channels and collacterals, which has been recntly considered as secretions of women.

낙동강 하구수의 변이원성에 대한 연구 (Mutagenicity of River Water of Nakdong River Estuary in Korea)

  • The mutagenicity of the river water of Nakdong river estuary was determined by Ames test using the blue rayon suspension method. Samples were collected from 10 sites in the estuary once in each season of 1998. The samples collected from the sites where industrial waste discharge on May were mutagenic, but the other samples were not mutagenic. The sample collected from the site 1 located near the industrial area (Hadan-dong) were highly mutagenic in the TA98 with (+S9) and without (-S9) mix as well as in the TA100 with (+S9) and without (-S9) S9 mix, suggesting that the river water of this site is polluted by direct and indirect mutagens of frame-shift type as well as direct and indirect mutagens of base-replacement type. The positive mutagenicity, although relatively low, was also detected in TA98 with (+S9) and without (-S9) S9 mix in the extract of the site 4 near the industrial area(Jangrim-dong), suggesting that the primary mutation type is frame-shift. The negative mutagenicity from July to December at the sites (1-4) near the industrial area seems to be affected by the low economic growth rate in 1998 in Korea. On the other hand, the negative mutagenicity in all extracts collected from the sites 5-10 near the residential area where living sewage discharge, suggests that the river water was not polluted by mutagens.

기업사회공헌활동 측정을 위한 척도개발 및 타당화 : ISO26000의 지침을 중심으로 (Development and Validation of Corporate Philanthropy Scale : focusing on the guidelines of ISO26000)

  • 본 연구는 기업사회공헌활동 측정을 위한 척도를 개발하고, 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 사회책임에 대한 국제표준인 ISO26000의 지침을 기업사회공헌활동에 적용하여 기초문항을 구성하고, 기업사회공헌 담당자를 대상으로 한 FGI와 개별면접, 자문, 예비조사를 거쳐 32개 예비문항을 선정하였다. 척도의 타당화를 위해 개발된 예비문항을 94개 기업의 사회공헌담당자를 대상으로 평가하였다. 연구결과 탐색적 요인분석을 통해 최종 6개 요인, 27개 문항을 확정하였으며, 확인적 요인분석을 통해 구성타당도와 판별타당도를 확보하였다. 또한, 알파계수방법, 측정의 표준오차, 문항분석 방법을 사용하여 신뢰도를 검증한 결과 안정적인 신뢰도를 보였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 함의를 논하였다.

청주.청원 지역 일부 청소년의 기능성 식품 섭취 실태 및 관련 교육에 대한 태도 (Use of Functional Foods and Attitude on Related Education among Adolescents in Cheongju and Cheongwon Area)

  • This study was to investigate use of functional foods and attitude on related education among adolescents. Subjects of this study were a total of 826 students in middle and high schools of Cheongju and Cheongwon area. Among the subjects, 44.8% had an experience in consuming functional foods. Among the subjects that experienced side effects possibly by the consumption of functional foods, 13.0% ignored the symptom and continued to consume the foods. Approximately one third of the subject(30.7%) obtained information on functional foods from their parents; however, few subjects(2.2%) obtained the information from the nutrition teachers or dietitians of their schools. Only 9.4% of the subjects underwent education related with functional foods, and 35.1% of the subjects demanded education on functional foods. The present study suggests that an effective education is needed for both students and their parents in order to prevent adolescents from the misuse of functional foods.

염생식물 갯질경 추출물의 미백 활성 (Whitening Activities of the Halophyte L. tetragonum (Thunberg) A. A. Bullock Extract in B16F10 Melanoma Cells)

  • To identify the natural and novel cosmeceutical ingredients which have whitening function, we examined the effects of tyrosinase activity and melanin production on halophyte Limonium tetragonum (Thunb.) A. A. Bullock extracts. As a result, the extracts showed whitening effect with no cytotoxicity. Melanin contents of B16F10 melanoma cells were decreased in a dose-dependent manner at 50, 100, $200{\mu}g/mL$ treatment of the extracts. In tyrosinase activity inhibition test, L. tetragonum (Thunb.) A. A. Bullock extracts showed decreased tyrosinase activity as the concentration of ${\alpha}-MSH$ was increased. Furthermore, it was observed that the tyrosinase and MITF expression was significantly downregulated by adding L. tetragonum (Thunb.) A. A. Bullock extracts in ${\alpha}-MSH$, a melanogenesis inducing material, treated B16F10 melanoma cells. These results indicate that L. tetragonum (Thunb.) A. A. Bullock extract might be an effective whitening agent by inhibit melanin formation.
