  • Zoom lenses CCD(Charge Coupled Device) cameras have many desirable features but appear to be geometrically unstable and diffcult to calibrate. It is well blown that the zooming camera parameters change with zoom lens position. This paper presents a comparative study of two approaches, namely, DLT(Direct Linear Transformation) introduced by Abdel-Aziz and Karara and the model proposed by Tsai, to evaluate the camera parameters of zoom lenses CCD camera and 3D positioning accuracy. As a result, the accuracy for 3D positioning using Tsai and DLT model is similar in both methods when the set of GCPs and the object are arranged in the same space. However, Tsai model is more stable than DLT in the case that the object is apart from the set of GCPs. Also, the further study for the parameters optimization of conventional DLT is needed to improve accuracy for 3D positioning.

  • The steel-tube is exposed to a radiation from X-ray source. The transmitted radiation is detected by a detector, usually film or more recently an imaging plate(IP) of Computed Radiography(CR). The detected radiation overlaps the region of both sides of the object. The radiographic images reflect the projections of the rays, passing twice through both external and internal tube material. Nonlinear distortion due to the radioactive transmission and geometric disposition also appears on images. In this paper, an analytical approach is presented to achieve image reconstruction from the steel-tube CR images. Parameters related to radiation and measuring structure, such as intensities, absorption in material and geometric specifications linked with the collimating components, are calculated and identified in order to construct the renoval images for twofold regions of circle-type steel tubes. A correction procedure for region recovery most similar to the true tube is designed. The application of this approach on CR images is shown and reconstructed results are discussed.

  • The effect of internal ring stiffeners is numerically evaluated for reinforcement of tubular K-joints. Finite element analyses are performed to compute stress of un-stiffened and ring-stiffened K-joints subjected to axial loading. The influence of loading condition and geometrical parameters of ring stiffener on joint behavior is assessed to determine the installation effect of single and double ring stiffeners. The arrangement effect of ring stiffener are evaluated using quantitative analysis compared single ring with double ring stiffeners. Based on the numerical results, practical size of ring stiffener is proposed for design of tubular K-joints.

  • In this paper, we describe on the position error of GBAS. In reality, there are many sources which make errors into the calculation of receiver position. It is well known that the DOP of GBAS is an important position error source and is dependent on the numbers and positions of the transmitters. Here, we develop an algorism to calculate the DOP of the GNSS with 2-line transmitters into Korean area. The result is useful to predict the DOP of the positions where transmitters and receivers are located.

  • This study presents the effects of various geometric properties on the ultimate behavior of steel cable-stayed bridges. In general, cable-stayed bridges are well known as a very efficient structural system, because of those geometric characteristics, but at the same time, the structure also shows complex structural behavior including various nonlinearities which significantly affect to the ultimate behavior of the structure. In this study, the effects of various geometric properties of main members on the ultimate behavior under specific live load cases, which had been studied in previous studies, were investigated using a rational analytical method. In this parametric study, sectional dimensions of main members were considered as main geometric parameters. For the rational ultimate analysis under specific live load cases, the 2-step analysis method, which contains initial shape analysis and live load analysis, was used. As the analysis model, 920.0 m long steel cable-stayed bridges were used and two different types of cable arrangement were considered to study the effect of the cable arrangement types. Through this study, the effects of various geometric properties on the characteristics of the ultimate behavior of steel cable-stayed bridges were intensively investigated.

  • Inertial sensors are important components of navigation system whose performance and reliability can be improved by specific sensor arrangement configuration. For the reliability of the system, Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) is conducted by comparing each signal of arranged sensors and many arrangement configuration were suggested to optimize FDI performance of the system. In this paper, multiple conic configuration is suggested with optimal navigation condition and its FDI performance is analyzed by established Figure Of Merit (FOM) under the condition for navigation optimality. From FOM comparison, the multiple conic configuration is superior to former one in point of FDI.

  • We detected the coseismic ionospheric disturbance generated by the earthquakes of magnitude 5.0 and greater in Korean Peninsula. We considered the seismic events such as Gyeongju earthquake in September 2016 with magnitude 5.8, the Pohang earthquake in November 2017 with magnitude 5.4, and the underground nuclear explosion from North Korea in September 2017 with magnitude 5.7. Although all GPS stations were not detected, the ionospheric disturbance induced by these earthquakes occurred approximately 10-30 minutes and 40-60 minutes after the events. We inferred that the time difference within each variation is due to the different focal depth and the geometry of epicenter, satellite, and GPS station. In the case of the Gyeongju earthquake, the earthquake had relatively deeper depth than the other earthquakes. However, the seismic magnitude was bigger and it occurred at nighttime when the ionospheric activity was stable. So we could observe such anomalous variations. It is considered that the ionospheric disturbance caused by the difference in velocity of the upward propagating waves generated by earthquake appears more than once. Our results indicate that the detection of ionospheric disturbances varies depending on the geometry of the GPS station, satellite, and epicenter or the detection method and that the apparent growth of amplitude in the time series varies depending on the focal depth or the site-satellite-epicenter geometry.

  • Kameun temple was constructed in A.D. 682 after 46 year after Chumsungdae was constructed. This paper discusses the scientific implication of Taegeuk stone rods of Kameun temple site through the geometric analysis of their engraved figures. So we can estimate that the west Taegeuk of Kameun temple site has 2 circles comparing the path of the moon with that of the sun leading to the asymmetry in its emblem(Taegeuk) and the east Taegeuk of Kameun temple site has 1 circle representing the path of the sun. The Taegeuks along with around 30 equilateral triangles representing the north latitude $35.8^{\circ}$ give the explicit information of period of the orbit of the moon and the sun. These mathematical methods can explain some relics structure of antiquity with a few historical expounds.

  • In photogrammetry, the accuracy is analyzed by using the coordinate of the targeted position determined by the geometric principle, thus, the reliability depends on the accuracy of the coordinate of the targeted position. Thereby, geographic surveying is essential to perform such tasks, and it requires approximately $30{\sim}50%$ of total cost and times to produce a finalized map. The main purpose of this study is to determine the configuration of the disposition of minimum datum points and their configuration, which were determined by surveying values available through using the structure of block model based on the aerotriangulation. ortho projection image was produce and digital topographic map was achieved by the optima model(CASE7). We also performed comparative analysis about the result of local datum point and the accuracy of overlapping based on the surveying results. Consequently, it is possible to analyze the unknown position accurately with the optimal model., CASE 7, which is the minimum datum points configuration required to block adjustment. Furthermore, this optimal model, which provides the minimum datum points, results costs and time saving effects compared to the previous methodology.
