A Test for Weibull Distribution and Extreme Value Distribution Based on Kullback-Leibler Information (쿨백-레이블러 정보함수에 기초한 와이블분포와 극단값 분포에 대한 적합도 검정)

  • In this paper, a test of fit for Weibull distribution on the estimated Kullback-Leibler information is proposed. The test uses the Vasicek entropy estimates, so to compute it a window size m must first be fried, and then is obtained critical values computed by Monte Carlo simulations. The power of the proposed test under various alternatives is compares with that of ocher famous tests. The use of the test is shown in an illustrative example.

  • 주어진 제목이 '통계이론'으로 되어 있으나 이것을 '이론통계학'이라고 바꾸어 말할 수도 있을 것이다. 그러나 이렇게 되면 Cox와 Hinkley의 "Theoretical Statistics (1974)"가 연상되어 통계학의 이론적인 기초인 Likelihood, Sufficient statistics 등의 개념과 더불어 Statistical inference, Asymptotic theory, Decision theory 등 소위 순수이론통계학을 대상으로 하는 것같이 느끼게 된다. 그런데 여기에 주어진 제목이 이러한 협의의 이론통계학에 대한 현황과 장래를 논의하는 것이라고 생각할 수는 없다. 더구나 다른 사람들에게 주어진 논제들을 살펴볼때 응용을 직접 목적으로 하는 방법론이 아닌 광의의 통계이론 또는 협의의 수리통계학이라고 해석함이 옳을 것 같다. 그러므로 이러한 의미에서 통계이론과 이론통계학을 같은 차원의 넓은 의미로 사용하기로 한다. 그러면 구체적으로 어떠한 통계이론을 대상으로 하여 이것이 한국에서의 통계이론의 현황을 나타내는 것이라고 말할 수 있을 것인가\ulcorner 이것은 쉬운 일이 아니다. 그러나 이러한 문제를 생각하지 않을 수 없다.지 않을 수 없다.

Urban Growth Analysis Through Satellite Image and Zonal Data (도시성장분석상 위상영상자료와 구역자료의 통합이용에 관한 연구)

  • Nowadays, a satellite image is widely utilized in identifying and predicting urban spatial growth. It provides essential informations on horizontal expansion of urbanized areas. However, its usefulness becomes very limited in analyzing density of urban development. On the contrary, zonal data, typically census data, provides various density information such as population, number of houses, floor information within a given zone. The problem of the zonal data in analyzing urban growth is that the size of the zone is too big. The minimum administration unit, Dong, is too big to match the satellite images. This study tries to derive synergy effects by matching the merits of the two information sources-- image data and zonal data. For this purpose, basic statistical unit (census block size) is utilized as a zonal unit. By comparing the image and zonal data of 1985 and 2000 of Daegu metropolitan area, this study concludes that urban growth pattern is better explained when the two types of data are properly used.

Clinical Evaluation of High Density Posterior Composite (고밀도 구치부 복합레진의 임상적 평가)

  • 본 연구에서는 35개의 구치부 2급 와동에 고밀도 구치부 복합레진(Surefil, Caulk, U.S.A.)을 수복하였다. 단일 충전군은 18개 치아의 인접면 와동을 한꺼번에 충전한 후 광중합하였고 분할 충전군은 17개 치아의 인접면 와동을 두 층으로 나누어 충전 및 광중합하였다. 6개월 후의 임상검사 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 기초검사에서 단일 충전군과 분할 충전군 모두 색상조화도(Color match)를 제외한 다른 검사 항목들에서 Alfa로 나타났다. 2. 단일 충전군은 6개월 후 모든 검사(색상 조화도 제외)에서 인접면 접촉도(Proximal contact), 변연부 변색(Marginal discoloration), 술후 과민증(Postoperative sensitivity) 검사에서 소수의 치아가 Bravo, Charlie로 나타났으나 기초 검사와 3개월 후 검사 사이에 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 보이지 않았다. 3. 분할 충전군은 6개월 후 시행된 모든 검사(색상 조화도 제외)에서 인접면 접촉도(Proximal contact), 술후 과민증(Postoperative sensitivity) 검사에서 소수의 치아가 Bravo, Charlie로 나타났으나 기초 검사와 6개월후 검시 사이에 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 보이지 않았다. 4. 모든 검사항목에서 단일 충전군과 분할 충전군을 비교한 결과 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 보이지 않았다. 따라서 고밀도 구치부 복합레진(Surefil, Caulk, U.S.A)은 색상 재현의 어려움을 제외하고는 여러 평가에서 우수하게 나타났으므로 본 연구 결과를 기준으로 보면 이전 복합레진의 단점이 보완되어 구치부 2급 와동에 적절하게 사용될 수 있다고 사료되며 단일 충전군과 분할 충전군 사이에 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이지 않으므로 시술 시간을 좀 더 단축시킬 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

A Study on the Statistical GIS for Regional Analysis (지역분석을 위한 웹 기반 통계GIS 연구)

  • A large suite of official statistical data sets has been compiled for geographical units under the national directives, and it is the quantitative regional analysis procedures that could add values to them. This paper reports our attempts at prototyping a statistical GIS which is capable of serving over the Web a variety of regional analysis routines as well as value-added statistics and maps. A pilot database of some major statistical data was ingested for the city of Seoul. The baseline subset of regional analysis methods of practical usage was selected and accommodated into the business logic of the target system, which ranges from descriptive statistics, regional structure/inequality measures, spatial ANOVA, spatial (auto) correlation to regression and residual analysis. The leading-edge information technologies including the application server were adopted in the system design and implementation so that the database, analysis modules and analytic mapping components may cooperate seamlessly behind the Web front-end. The prototyped system supports tables, maps, and files of downloadable format for input and output of the analyses. One of the most salient features of out proposed system is that both the database and analysis modules are extensible via the bi-directional interface for end users; The system provides users with operators and parsers for algebraic formulae such that the stored statistical variables may be transformed and combined into the newly-derived set of variables. This functionality eventually leads to on-the-fly fabrication of user-defined regional analysis algorithms. The stored dataset may also be temporarily augmented by user-uploaded dataset; The extension of this form, in essence, results in a virtual database which awaits for users commands as usual. An initial evaluation of the proposed system confirms that the issues involving the usage and dissemination of information can be addressed with success.

  • This study intends to evaluate the impacts of traditional recreations on children's physical strength and self-ego on a group of 40 seven-year-old children observed twice per week for a ten week period. The results of the research are as follows. First, in the changes of the infant's basic physical strength, according to the traditional playground program, low factors like muscular strength, agility, quickness, and flexibility shows higher in experimental group comparing to control group. Statically between two groups, there was a significant difference. Second, in the changes of the infant's physical self-concept, according to the traditional playground program, low factors like, appearance, fitness ability, and physical strength Shows higher in experimental group comparing to control group, but statically, two groups there wasn't any significant differences. So according to the results of the research, it clearly shows that traditional playground program has positive effects to the infant's basic physical strength, and physical self-concepts.

  • Modern statistics is used in many fields; however many users face difficulties in understanding statistical concepts. On the other hand, elementary school curriculum covers stem and leaf plot, pie chart, charts for proportional data as well as descriptive statistics including the mean. We find that an "intuitive" statistical package focused on 5-8 graders for statistical education will help future statistics users understand statistical concepts at earlier stages of their lives.
