The Effect of Fluidized-Bed Variables on Attrition of Solid Particles (유동층 공정변수의 고체입자 마모에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate particle attrition characteristics in a gas desulfurization using zinc titanate sorbent in a 0.035 m i.d. by 1.34 m height gas fluidized bed reactor. Gas jetting from the distributor and bubbling in the gas fluidized bed were found to be the main causes of particle attrition. The experiment was carried out under a slow attrition rate condition to compare the performance of the batch reactor to that of a continuous reactor. The attrition index (AI) and corrected attrition index (CAI) were measured at various the gas velocity, temperature, pressure, and bed weight, in the gas fluidized bed, during the dexulfurization process. The AI (5) and CAI (5) decreased as the bed weight increased. Particle destruction occurred when the particles started to experience physical fatigue under specific impacts over several iterations. AI (5) and CAI (5) also increased as relative humidity, gas velocity and pressure increased, and as temperature decreased. Particle attrition was mainly affected by gas jetting from the distributor, and abrasion resulted in smaller particles than fragmentation did.

복사열 교란에 대한 고체 추진제 응답 함수의 FM 방법에 의한 수치적 계산

  • 교란에 대한 고체 추진제의 연소율의 반등에 대한 이해는 고성능 추진제를 설계하는데 매우 중요한 요소이다. 그 동안의 연구는 고체 추진제의 표면에서 발생하는 교란이 매우 작은 크기로 발생한다는 선형적인 가정을 사용하여 이론적인 응답 함수를 구하였다. 특히 실험실에서 행해지는 교란에 대한 추진제의 응답 함수를 구하기 위하여 이용한 비집촉식 교란 방법을 사용하였다. 이 경우 추진제 표면으로 전달되는 복사열 전달의 크기는 레이저에 의한 복사 일전달과 기체 영의 화염에 의한 열전달을 동시에 고려하여야 한다. 그러나 언급하였던 것처럼 대부분의 이론적 연구는 추진제 표면의 온도 구매가 단열인 것으로 가정하여 진행하였다. 이러한 가정을 기체 영역으로부터 추진제로 전달되는 열전달 량이 작은 점소화초기 등에서 타당한 가정이나, 기체 영역에서 연소가 활발하게 진행되는 경우에는 비합리적인 가정이다. 본 연구에서는. 추진제의 응축 영역에서 분포 화학 반응이 발생하여, 기체 영역에서 화학반응에 의한 연소가 진행되는 경우, 복사 열전달의 교란에 대한 추진제의 응답함수를 수치적으로 계산하였다. 이때 기체 영역에서 발생하는 연소 반응은 De Luca 등에 의하여 제안된 실험적 모델인 $\alpha$ $\beta$ ${\gamma}$ 화염 모델을 사용하였으며, 추진제 표면에서의 열전달 균형에 의한 경계 조건을 사용하였다. 그러나 외부로부터 입사되는 복사광 레이저와 기체 영역의 상호 간섭은 고려하지 않았다. 수치 계산에 의한 응답 함수의 특징은 단열 조건이 사용된 이론적 응답 함수에 비하여 낮은 값을 나타내었으며, 최대치를 보이는 주파수 영역도 이론 함수에 비하여 다른 값을 보여주고 있다.연구 분석 결과 기술적 문제점으로는 배기 가스온도가 낮은데 따른 출구 부분의 Bearing, Sealing이 문제가 될 수 있다고 판단되며 배기 가스 자체에 대기 공기중에 함유되어 있던 습기가 얼어붙는(Icing화) 문제가 발생하기 때문에 배기가스의 Icing을 방지하기 위하여 압축기 끝단에서 공기를 추출하여 배기부분에 송출할 필요성이 있는 것으로 판단되었다. 출구가스의 기체 유동속도가 매우 빠르므로 (100-l10m.sec) 이를 완화하기 위한 디퓨저의 설계가 요구된다고 판단된다. 또 연소기 후방에 물을 주입하는 경우 열교환기 및 기타 부분품에 발생할 수 있는 부식 및 열교환 효율 저하도 간과할 수 없는 문제로 파악되었다. 이러한 기술적 문제가 적절히 해결되는 경우 비활성 가스 제너레이터는 민수용으로는 대형 빌딩, 산림, 유조선 등의 화재에 매우 적절히 사용되어 질 수 있을 뿐 아니라 군사적으로도 군사작전 중 및 공군 기지의 화재 그리고 지하벙커에 설치되어 있는 고급 첨단 군사 장비 등의 화재 뿐 아니라 대간첩작전 등에 효과적으로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.가 작으며, 본 연소관에 충전된 RDX/AP계 추진제의 경우 추진제의 습기투과에 의한 추진제 물성 변화는 미미한 것으로 나타났다.의 향상으로, 음성개선에 효과적이라고 사료되었으며, 이 방법이 편측 성대마비 환자의 효과적인 음성개선의 치료방법의 하나로 응용될 수 있으리라 생각된다..7%), 혈액투석, 식도부분절제술 및 위루술·위회장문합술을 시행한 경우가 각 1례(2.9%)씩이었다. 13) 심각한 합병증은 9례(26.5%)에서 보였는데 그중 식도협착증이 6례(17.6%), 급성신부전증 1례(2.9%), 종격동기흉과 폐염이 병발한 경우와 폐염이 각 1례(2.9%)였다. 14

Conceptual Design of 50 kW thermal Chemical-Looping Combustor and Analysis of Variables (열량기준 50kW급 매체순환식 가스연소기의 개념설계 및 변수해석)

  • To develop a chemical-looping combustion technology, conceptual design of 50 kW thermal chemical-looping combustor, which is composed of two interconnected pressurized circulating fluidized beds, was performed by means of mass and energy balance calculations. A riser type fast fluidized bed was selected as an oxidizer and a bubbling fluidized bed was selected as a reducer by mass balance for the chemical-looping combustor. Calculated values of bed mass, solid circulation flux, and reactor dimension by mass and energy balance calculations were suitable for construction and operation of chemical-looping combustor. It is concluded from the comparison of the design results and operating values of commercial circulating fluidized bed that the process outline is realistic. Moreover, the previous results support that oxygen carrier particle, NiO/bentonite, fulfills the conversion rates needed for the proposed design. The effects of system capacity, metal oxide content in a oxygen carrier particle, amount of steam input, gas velocity, and solid depth on design values were investigated and the changes in the system performance can be estimated by proposed design tool.

An experimental study on the ignition of dusts behind reflected shock waves (고체미립자의 반사압축파에 의한 점화에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In relation to the dust detonatians which have imposed severe damages on the industry, the ignitability of various dusts has been investigated on a horizontal shock tube in this study. By using a newly designed air injector, very well-distributed clouds could be obtained. The proper reflected shock conditions have been generated by placing a reflector 1.5cm behind the air injector, which reflected the incident shock wave. The incident shock waves in the range of Mach number 2.8-3.3 created the postreflected shock temperature of 1200-1600K. Experimentally the ignition delay was defined as the time interval between the arrival of a reflected shock wave at dusts and the detection of visible light. Measured ignition delays of dusts investigated were located lower than 1msec under the above conditions. These values are one-order higher than those in the incident shock wave condition. In this type of ignitiion process the following three processes are considered to play important roles; heating of a particle, generation of volatile gas by endothermic devolatilization process, and its diffusion from the particle surface and the formation of stoichiometric mixture with oxidizer.

  • Effect of loop seal geometry on solid circulation characteristics was investigated with two different types of upper loop seals and lower loop seals in a gas-solid fluidized bed system. Upper loop seal which has a wide gap between solid intake and outlet parts requires more fluidization gas to maintain smooth solid circulation. Moreover, the lower loop seal which has a wide gap requires more fluidization gas to achieve the same solid circulation rate. These results can be explained by results of minimum fluidization velocity in the lower loop seals. Consequently, if a loop seal has a wide gap between solid intake and outlet parts, more fluidization gases should be fed to ensure enough solid circulation rate and smooth solid circulation.

Measurement of Carbon Nanotube Agglomerates Size and Shape in Dilute Phase of a Fluidized Bed (유동층 반응기 희박상 내 탄소나노튜브 응집체의 크기 및 형상 측정)

  • Size and shape of carbon nanotube (CNT) agglomerates in the dilute phase of a bubbling fluidized bed ($0.15m\;i.d{\times}2.6m\;high$) have been determined by the laser sheet technique. Axial solid holdup distribution of the CNT particles showed S curve with dense phase and dilute phase in bubbling fluidization regime. Heywood diameter and Feret diameter of the CNT agglomerates in the dilute phase of bubbling fluidized bed increased with increasing gas velocity. The CNT particle number in the agglomerates increased with increasing of gas velocity. Aspect ratio increased and circularity, roundness and solidity decreased with increasing of gas velocity. A possible mechanism of agglomerates formation was proposed based on the obtained information.

  • A three dimensional numerical model to predict the flow and transport of mixtures and also the electrochemical reactions in polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells is developed. The numerical computation is base on vorticity- velocity method. Governing equations for the flow and transport of mixtures are coupled with the equations for electrochemical reactions and are solved simultaneously including production and condensation of vapor. Fuel cell performance predicted by this calculation is compared with the experimental results and resonable agreements are achieved.

  • A "two-fluid" model using thermal eddy diffusivity concept and Lumley's drag reduction theory, is proposed to analyze heat transfer of the turbulent dilute gas-particle flow in a vertical pipe with constant wall heat flux. The thermal eddy diffusivity is derived to be a function of the ratio of the heat capacity-density products .rho. over bar $C_{p}$ of the gaseous phase and the particulate phase and also of the ratio of thermal relaxation time scale to that of turbulence. The Lumley's theory dictates the variation of the viscous sublayer thickness depending on the particle loading ratio Z and the relative particle size $d_{p}$/D. At low loading ratio, the size of viscous sublayer thickness is important for suspension heat transfer, while at higher loading, the effect of the ratio .rho. $_{p}$ over bar $C_{p}$$_{p}$/ .rho. $_{f}$ over bar $C_{p}$$_{f}$ is dominant. The major cause of decrease in the suspension Nusselt number at lower loading ratio is found to be due to the increase of the viscous sublayer thickness caused by the suppression of turbulence near the wall by the presence of solid particles. Predicted Nusselt numbers using the present model are in satisfactory agreements with available experimental data both in pipe entrance and the fully developed regions.

Influence of Reaction Temperature on Bio-oil Production from Rice Straw by the Pyrolysis (볏짚으로부터 바이오오일 생산에 대한 열분해 반응온도의 영향)

  • Rice straw is one or the main renewable energy sources in Korea. Bio-oil is produced from rice straw with a lab-scale equipment mainly with a fluidized bed and a char removal system. It was investigated how the reaction temperature affected the production of bio-oil and the efficiency of a char removal system. To elucidate how the temperature depended on the production of bio-oil, experiments were conducted at $466^{\circ}C,\;504^{\circ}C\;and\;579^{\circ}C$, respectively. The mass balance was established in each experiment, and the produced gas and oil were analyzed with the aid of GCs and a GC-MS system. The char removal system is composed of a cyclone and a hot filter. Tn the experiments, we observed that the production of bio-oil was decreased with temperature, and the bio-oil contained very useful chemicals.

We investigated how the reaction temperature affected the production of bio-oil and the efficiency of a char removal system. To elucidate how the temperature depended on the production of bio-oil, experiment were conducted between $450^{\circ}C\;and\;600^{\circ}C$ with a feed rate of about 300g/h. The mass balance was established in each experiment, and the produced gas and oil were analyzed with the aid of GCs and a GC-MS system. The char removal system is composed of a cyclone and a hot filter. In the experiments, we observed that the optimum reaction temperature range for the production of bio-oil is between $450^{\circ}C\;and\;500^{\circ}C$.
