Financial Analysis and Effects on Performance of Offshore Freight Shipping Companies (외항 화물운송업의 재무분석 및 성과에 미치는 요인 연구)

  • Using data from 2008 to 2017, this study analyzed the financial characteristics of offshore freight shipping companies in Korea, categorized by vessel type, and their impact on business performance. The analysis showed an upward trend in the overall debt ratio of offshore freight transport companies and differences in the financial characteristics of each vessel type as well as the major factors affecting business performance. In particular, the significant factors affecting the ROA performance of the business are the size of business and debt ratio in the LPG line; the growth rate in the bulk line; the size of business, debt ratio, and year in the general freight line; and the size of business, growth rate, entertainment expense rate, debt ratio, and year in the full container line. Therefore, each shipping company needs to recognize differences in key financial factors affecting its performance based on vessel type, implement proactive measures, and diversify its vessel portfolio.

The Effect of Firm Characteristics on the Female Employment Ratio (기업특성이 여성고용비율에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the effects of the firm characteristics of the manufacturing industry on the female employment ratio. Three hypotheses regarding female employment ratio, were tested for 5,729 firms that could use financial data among the firms listed on the KOSPI from 2011 to 2019, in terms firm size, listing period, and foreign ownership. Follwing the analyses, three hypotheses were mostly adopted. It was found that as the size firm and foreign ownership ratio increased, the female employment ratio increased in the number of regular and permanent contract employees, fixed-term employees, and total employees. As for the listing period, the higher the value, the lower the female employment ratio in the number of regular and permanent contract employees, fixed-term employees, and total employees. These research results may be used as basic data for gender equal employment policies such as Affirmative Atcion for Gender Equal Employment.

Forms of Governance and Firm Value in the Korean Logistics Industry (물류기업의 지배구조가 기업가치에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper investigates whether managerial ownership and foreign ownership have impacts on firm value, using a sample of logistics firms listed on the Korea Stock Exchange between 2008 and 2014. In the Korean economy, family-controlled business groups, known as chaebol, constitute a unique governance system. To acquire investments from controlling shareholders, a logistics firm is likely to be included in family-controlled business groups. Since reform of the governance structure of logistics firms in the South Korea enables shareholder value to be maximized, we analyzed ownership effects on firm value using pooled ordinary least squares. Empirical results showed that there was a significant positive relation between managerial ownership and firm value. This study also found that there was a significant positive relation between foreign ownership and firm value. We thus show that both managerial ownership and foreign ownership can protect shareholders by positively affecting firm values.

Leverage and Corporate Failure: Analysis of Leverage Impact according to Company Size through Survival Analysis (레버리지와 기업실패: 생존분석을 응용한 기업규모에 따른 레버리지 영향분석)

  • Survival analysis was used to analyze whether there is a difference in the effect of leverage on corporate failure according to the firm size. A total of 25,250 (year-company) companies listed on the Korea Stock Exchange and KOSDAQ market from 1999 to 2019 were analyzed. First, the increase in leverage generally acts as a factor that increases the possibility of corporate failure. On the other hand, the increase in the trade payable ratio lowered the possibility of failure of the company. The increase in corporate trade payable was perceived as a factor in reducing the possibility of corporate failure because it was considered the active development of business activities or active use of interest-free debt rather than leading to an increase in corporate risk. Second, a higher leverage ratio and trade payable ratio in large firms lowered the possibility of corporate failure. In the SMEs, all types of leverage increases are a factor that increases corporate failure. Overall, the effect of leverage on corporate failure differs according to the size of the company.

  • This study analyzed about medium-sized companies with AIS systems and outsourcing services to relate that the system performance. In addition, for the most efficient outsourcing of AIS management plan were analyzed. In this study, studied the practical environment of AIS outsourcing that separated the operating departments and administrative departments and divisions information to small-mid size companies. The results of this study can be summarized as the first, small business outsourcing companies of AIS introduction of the initial accounting module if you run a higher job performance were analyzed. Second, AIS in the outsourcing of integrated modules for the system to operate through the performance was very high. Integrated operation to be analyzed according to the synergistic effect. The results of this study AIS in the future of manufacturing outsourcing, and how small and medium-sized building is expected to give alternation.

Winner's Curse and Underpricing of IPO of Privatised British Companies (Winner's Curse와 영국 민영화기업의 최초공모주 저가발행현상 분석)

  • 본 논문은 1977-91년 사이 런던증권시장에서 일반공모형태로 주식이 매각된 영국의 41개 민영화기업의 최초공모주 가격결정에 대해 실증분석하고 있다. 특히 단기적으로 볼 때 영국 민영화기업의 최초공모주는 일반기업의 최초공모주에 비해 현저히 낮게 평가되어 발행되고 있음이 밝혀졌다. 본 논문에서는 민영화기업의 이러한 저가발행 현상을 정보비소유 투자자에게 최소한의 수익률을 보장해 주어야 한다는 Rock(1986)의 winner's curse 관점에서 설명하여 보았다. 먼저 정보비소유 투자자가 직면할 수 있는 winner's curse의 존재 가능성을 청약경쟁률과 저평가율과의 관계를 고찰함으로써 확인하였다. 즉 청약경쟁률과 초과수익률(할인규모)은 정(正)의 관계를 보였는데 이는 정보소유 투자자가 할인규모가 큰 민영화기업의 최초공모주에 집중적으로 청약하여 정보 비소유 투자자를 구축(驅逐)하여 정보비소유 투자자를 winner's curse에 직면하게 할 가능성이 있다는 Rock의 주장과 일치하는 것으로 보인다. 또한 배정확률을 고려한 가중평균초과수익률이 무위험수익률을 보장해주는지를 조사함으로써 Rock의 주장을 실증적으로 규명하였다. 한편 영국 민영화기업의 최초공모주는 장기적으로도 정(正)의 초과수익률을 시현하고 있는 데 이는 일반기업의 최초공모주의 누적초과수익률은 장기적으로는 부(負)를 시현한다는 Ritter(1991)와 Levis(1993)의 연구결과와는 대조적이다.

기계학습을 활용한 중소기업 맞춤형 지식서비스 진단 및 처방 기술 연구

  • 많은 국가에서 중소기업의 기술혁신을 지원하기 위해서 다양한 직 간접적 지원 프로그램을 기획하고 운영한다. 이 연구는 R&D 투자 효율성을 제고하기 위한 간접 지원의 대표적인 사례 중에서 지식서비스, 특히 그중에서도 R&D 기획, 기술가치평가, 정보 지원 사업에 주목했다. 이 연구에서는 지식서비스의 일환으로 공공과 민간에서 다양하게 제공되고 있는 3가지 지원 사업을 대상으로 R&D 중소기업 중에서 수요 집단의 특징을 프로파일링 했다. 이런 프로파일링을 통해 기업의 해당 지식서비스 지원 적합성을 진단할 수 있는 계량적인 방법을 제안하고 나아가 이를 통한 처방 방법을 논의한다. 구체적인 연구 방법으로는 데이터 마이닝을 통한 분석 방법으로 수요 집단을 프로파일링 했으며, 전통적인 통계 방법인 판별분석 방법을 활용해서 구체적인 지식서비스 적합성 진단 모형을 제시했다. 본 연구에서는 특정 지식서비스 수요에 대한 중소기업의 특징을 프로파일링하기 위해서 설문정보를 활용했으며, 모형의 적정성을 검증하기 위해서 새로운 설문을 활용하는 등 총 6,600 기업에 대한 대규모 설문을 활용했다는데도 차별적 의의가 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 대규모 데이터를 바탕으로 한 중소기업에 대한 지식서비스 또는 R&D 진단과 처방 서비스를 제시해 중소기업과 정부 R&D 투자 효율성을 개선시키는데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

An Analysis of Factors on Wage Gap of Workers in Logistics Industry -Focusing on Factors that don't directly affect Productivity- (물류산업 종사자의 임금격차에 관한 요인분석 -생산성에 직접적 영향을 주지 않는 요인을 대상으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting the wages of workers in the logistics industry and to identify the current status of employment and wages in the logistics industry. Based on this, it sought to find analytical factors on the wages of workers in the logistics industry and explain their impact on the wage gap. The analysis data were interpreted as cross-sectional data from the National Statistical Office over the past decade and the analysis data were set to three types. The results of the analysis could be explained that three factors understood as wage discrimination factors that do not directly affect productivity generally have a significant impact on wage gap among workers in the logistics industry. Air and water transport industries received high salaries due to factors in the industry. The very low-paid sector for that was the land transport industry, and the courier industry as a detailed sector. Due to the nature of job factors, technicians and assistants received lower wages than other jobs. Due to the nature of the company's size factors, companies with 51 or more employees received higher wages than companies with 50 or less employees. In testing the effectiveness of multiple sources of ANOVA, the common 'industry × enterprise size' variable was explained to have a significant effect on gaps in wages for workers in the logistics industry. In addition, the comparison of the influence of the main effects of the three factors put into the analysis model shows that the industry has the most influence.

  • 공간정보체계 관련 구축 사업들이 시작되면서 전문분야별 소요인력에 대한 문제가 제기되었고, 다양한 방법에 의하여 전문 인력양성을 추진하여 왔다. 초장기 인력 규모의 예측은 사업 규모에 기반하여 예측되어졌고 인력 수요기관의 요구와 특징이 반영되지 못한게 사실이다. 이제는 공간정보체계가 광범위하게 확산되어 산업 현장을 통하여 소요 인력의 예측이 가능하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 인력 소요처들로부터 필요한 인력 규모를 조사하여 소요인력을 예측하고, 인력의 변화 특성들을 파악함으로서 기술수요에 따른 인력 육성분야와 수요량을 기반으로 하는 인력양성에 활용하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 인력 소요예측은 소요 인력이 활용되는 기업 등을 중심으로 산업적 성장성과 개별 기업의 인력 요구 등을 고려한 공간정보체계의 각 분야별 인력 소요 예측을 수행하도록 한다. 이를 토대로 산업적 특성, 기술적 특성, 소요 인력의 수요 증가 형태 및 특징을 분석하여 종합적인 소요 인력 규모를 산정하고 있다.
