Package Optimization for Maximizing the Modulation Performance of 10 Gbps MQW Modulator (10 Gbps용 MQW 광변조기의 변조 성능 극대화를 위한 최적 패키지에 관한 연구)

  • The modulation performance of 10 Gbps electro-absorption InGaAsP/InGaAsP strain compensated MQW (Multiple Quantum Well) modulator module depends on the modulator as well as the package parasitics. The high frequency package parasitics resulting from various structural discontinuities, limit the modulation bandwidth and increase the chirp-parameter. Therefore, we propose the double bondwires embedded in dielectric materials to minimize the bondwire parasitics. Using the proposed structure with 50 $\Omega$ terminating resistor, the modulation bandwidth is greatly increased by 125 % than the bare chip and the chirp-parameter is also reduced. This technique can be used in optimizing the package of high speed external modulators.

A Study on the Characteristics of the Vertical PNP transistor that improves the starting current (기동 전류를 개선한 수직 PNP 트랜지스터의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we introduce the characteristics of a vertical PNP transistor that improves start current by decreasing quiescent current with suppressing the parasitic transistor. In order to suppress the parasitic effect, we designed a vertical PNP transistor which suppresses parasitic PNP transistor by using the "DN+ links" without changing the circuit and made a LDO regulator using a standard IC processor. HFE of the fabricated parasitic PNP transistor decreased from conventional 18 to 0.9. Starting current of the LDO regulator made of the vertical PNP transistor using the improved "DN+ linked" structure is reduced from the conventional starting current of 90mA to 32mA. As the result, we developed a LDO regulator which consumes lower power in the standby state.

Wideband Stacked Microstrip Antenna with Parasitic Patches for 800MHz Band (기생패치를 이용한 800MHz 대역 광대역 적층 마이크로스트립 안테나)

  • A wideband stacked patch antenna with parasitic elements, rectangular and triangle shaped patches, is proposed. Two different shaped parasitic elements are placed in the above of main rectangular microstrip patch antenna in order to achieve wide bandwidth for 860 MHz band. Coupling between the main patch and parasitic patches is realized by thick air gap. The gap and locations of parasitic patches are found to be the main factor of the wideband impedance matching. The proposed antenna is designed on a ground plane with small size of $119mm{\times}109mm$ for application of compact transceivers. And the impedance bandwidth of the antenna should satisfied CDMA band to the 780MHz~890MHz.

  • A female Brachymeria lasus (Walker) was exposed to one or four pupae of host Hyphantria cunea Drury for 20 minutes within a petri dish $(1.5\times9cm)$ to learn factors influencing the host discrimination by the parasitoid. It rejected the parasitized host with its rejection ratio 73.3% for the one pupal exposure vs 100% for the four pupal exposure scheme. The parasitoid could discriminate the parasitized host by its antennal drumming and ovipositor probing due to a pheromone-like external marking which is effective only for a certain peiod of time, and a host quality associated with the parasitoid development, respectively.

  • In this papar, we have proposed a small electronically steerable parasitic array radiator with 180 degree azimuth beam coverage and high gain characteristics. The proposed antenna is composed of a uniplanar Yagi dipole as a feeding element and two dipoles as parasitic elements. The fabricated antenna is tested by electronically changing the reactance loaded on the parasitic dipoles and the results show that it has 5.2dB~6.7dB gain in $-90^{\circ}{\sim}90^{\circ}$wide azimuth range and -10dB return loss characteristics within 5.725GHz~5.825GHz UNII band.

A Study on Views of Vital Capital in Film (영화 <기생충>에 나타난 생명자본의 관점에 관한 연구)

  • The film won the Golden Palm Award at the Cannes Film Festival, and received the Academy Award for a non-English-speaking film in February 2020, respectively. It has received a monumental evaluation in the world film history. Overall, this film is about class conflict, and critics evaluate the theme of the film as "badly twisted class gap" and "anger from class." The film expresses an intrinsic conflict embodied in culture as a "tragedy in which no bad person appears," rather than the dichotomous composition of the classical class struggle from Marxism. In other words, this can be seen as expressing the substrated class relationship of the modern society that Pierre Bourdieu had argued. This film has been focused as a controversial target under Korea society with excess of ideology. Politics used to adopt the keyword, 'parasite', for political disputes not only in culture contents world. Paradoxically socialism China did not allow to release film 'Parasite.' On the other hand, Lee O-Yong argues that the movie "Parasite" does not look at social phenomena through a dichotomous perspective, but is viewed through a "double perspective" and evaluates that it does not lose eyes looking at humans through tension. This view is based upon 'Vital Capitalism'. Lee. O-Yong looks at the movie "Parasite" from the perspective of "Vital Capitalism". The theory of Vital Capitalism does not seek to find the root of historical development in class struggle conflicts, but rather figuring out history and society pays attention onto the intrinsic characteristics of life, Topophilia, Neophilia, and Biophilia. Lee Eo-ryeong argues that the development of civilization theory evolved from the stage of Hobbes' Darwinism or predatism to the stage of host vs. parasite of Michel Serres, and onto the stage of Margulis's 'Win-Win (inter-dependence)'. In this paper, after overview of vital capital concept and preceeding research, re-interpretations were tried onto scenes based upon fields from habitus, culture capital. This exploration looks for a alternative for excess of ideology in Korea society.

Endoparasitic Dinoflagellates, Amoebophrya spp. and their Host Dinoflagellates in Jinhae Bay, Korea (진해만에 출현하는 기생성 와편모류 Amoebophrya spp.와 숙주 와편모류)

  • Amoebophrya is an obligate endoparasitic eukaryotic dinoflagellate infecting host species and eventually killing them within a short period. Because of its host specificity and significant impacts on population dynamics of host species, it has long been proposed to be a potential biological agent for controlling harmful algal bloom (HAB). For several decades, the difficulties of culturing host - parasite systems have been a great obstacle to further research on the biology of Amoebophrya but recent success of several culture systems reactivates this research field. In this study, as a preliminary work for understanding the impacts of Amoebophrya on the population dynamics of host species, semimonthly occurrence of infected host dinoflagellates by Amoebophrya spp. had been observed in Jinhae Bay for two years and with a host - parasite system cultivated, host specificity of Amoebophrya spp. on several dinoflagellates was tested. Amoebophrya spp. were observed in the cellular organelle and cytoplasm of several species including Akashiwo sanguinea, Ceratium fusus, Dinophysis acuminata, Heterocapsa triquetra, Oblea sp., Prorocentrum minimum, P. triestinum, Scrippsiella spinifera, and S. trochoidea. Among them two host - parasite systems for an athecate dinoflagellate, A. sanguinea, and for a thecate dinoflagellate, H. triquetra, had been able to be successfully established as laboratary cultures. Cross-infection tests for 6 species of dinoflagellates in which Amoebophrya was observed or had been reported to exist confirmed high preference for host species of the parasite. Through the continuous research on Amoebophrya occurring in Korean coastal waters, we need to maintain various host - parasite culture systems, which will be very helpful for understanding its ecological role in marine food webs and for applying the species to biologically control harmful algal blooms.

Preliminary Studies on the Sporozoan Parasites in Oysters on the Southern Coast of Korea (남해안굴의 기생성 포자충 예비조사)

  • 굴 양식이 성해짐에 따라 각종 질병이 유행되리라 염려되어 굴에 기생되는 Minchinia sp.의 기생충 조사를 했다. 1970년에는 김해 송정리 송지식 굴과 거제도 법동리 수하식 굴을 조사했고 1971, 1972년에는 거제도 어구 추봉, 1개 어장의 굴만을 조사했다. 총480 개분의 굴을 조직학적으로 각장기 마다 관찰했으나 Minchinia sp.는 검출되지 않았다. 송정리 송지식굴과 거제도 수하식굴을 비교할 때 조직상 약간의 변화는 있었다.

  • 스쿠티카충은 세계 각국의 해산 양식 어류에 중요한 조건성 병원체로 알려져 있으며(Cheung et al., 1980; Dragesco et al., 1995; Munday et al., 1997), 일본을 비롯한 우리 나라에서는 주로 양식 넙치에 기생하여 피해를 주고 있다 (Yoshinaga and Nakazoe, 1993). 수년에 걸쳐 이 기생충을 해결하고자 많은 연구가 수행되어 왔으며 최근 지 등 (1999)은 일련의 연구를 통해 이 기생충의 분류학적 위치, 생물학적 성상, 감염경로와 발병 기작을 밝힌 바 있다.
