  • Impression taking is a very important procedure in complete denture fabrication for reproduction of the tissue surface from which obtain retention and support of denture base. Therefore, we can not construct retentive denture without precise impression taking. Retention in complete denture can be obtained by the closest contact between denture base and underlying tissue, maximum coverage and proper displacement of the border tissue for peripheral sealing. Therefore, it is very important to take impression of the border tissue displaced properly. Nowadays, impression of the border tissue is mainly taken by the border molding techniques by means of manual muscle trimming, but due to various muscle trimming methods as clinicians, it is difficult to select proper method. This technique is also bodersome to do and time-consuming procedure. Retention is also likely reduced, because of the recording excessive muscle movement than actural physiological border tissue movement. Therefore, the impression technique that records actual physiologic functional muscle movement is helpful to increase denture retention and easy to do. We named this technique a functional border molding technique. This technique is originally introduced by D. J. Neill and R. I. Nairn in 1968. We tried to fabricate complete denture by the impression by means of functional border molding technique for better retention and the convenience, and obtained good results.

  • This paper was written on the purpose of examining and analyzing Sungho's view of geography in 'Cheonjimun(天地門)', a part of 'Sunghosaseol(星湖僿說)'. Sungho is not a geographer who specialized in geography, His view is neither structural in methodological approach nor profound in geographical thought. Unfortunately, he looks to be possessed by geomantic thought(風水地理思想) in explaining geographical features and native customs. And he focused and emphasized only on defensive function in place location. As a whole, however, he had a good grasp of and analyzed about geographical topics which are related to human life and we must take interest in. Therefore, in his view, there is a love for country and hometown. Especially, it has to be highly appreciated that he tried to explain his view in analytical and practical perspective with an unspoken advice which things necessary for human life have to be used to available knowledge.

  • With the rapid aging of the nation's population and the increasing number of elderly people with difficulties in daily life, the elderly care system was implemented for social solidarity. Structural problems in the long-term care system that emerged after the introduction of the system are demanded, and the problem of functional readjustment between nursing hospitals and facilities is raised due to the lack of continuity of care for the elderly by institutional and salary types. In this study, we set up research problems related to personnel, staff, and services to address the problem and conducted FGI. Research has shown that the number of elderly and recognized people in the region, the number of elderly and elderly patients, needs to be reflected in long-term care demand, the direction of appropriate institutional and manpower supply policies, and the establishment of local government goals and plans to strengthen the long-care institutions. It was revealed that non-medical accident arbitration bodies are needed to apply the cost of food insurance, provide programs through links with relevant institutions, and manage the admission smoothly.

  • CAD/CAM technology has already been used in most areas of prosthetics. The range of CAD/CAM application in denture fabricating process has been gradually increasing since the CAD/CAM technology was introduced for the fabrication of complete dentures in 1994. This paper describes a technique that combines conventional and CAD/CAM technology for the fabrication of complete dentures: the master casts from a conventional impression techniques were scanned first, and the wax denture was fabricated using Amann Girrbach's Ceramill full denture system (fds). The purpose of this paper is to introduce the case in which making an esthetically and functionally satisfied denture in shorter time is possible with CAD/CAM technology.

  • The role of the posterior palatal seal is important in retention of the maxillary complete denture. After taking the final impression, additional retention can be given to the maxillary denture through a mechanical method of forming a groove on master cast, but this is often overlooked in the clinical process. As a result, the posterior palatal seal is formed in a uniform way by the technician without considering the individual characteristics of the patient. Until now, various types of posterior palatal seal have been introduced by many people. This case report describes the process of manufacturing the maxillary complete denture by determining the position and form of an appropriate posterior palatal seal after considering the patient's anatomical palatal form and tissue displacement during function.

  • As a makeup technique for a baby-faced image, there will be a difference in perception of the expression technique of baby-faced makeup according to general matters.' Two hypotheses were supported: 'There will be a difference in perception of the expression technique of baby face makeup depending on the general characteristics', and the makeup technique for creating a baby face image is an important function for both men and women, as well as appearance. As a 'physical resource' for social activities, it was confirmed that there is an improvement in the efficiency of the body and mind and an outstanding improvement in mental ability in daily life. Through the results of the study on 'expression of baby face image makeup', awareness and interest in baby face images are high, but research on the production of baby face images is needed. The need for facial expression elements for baby face makeup is expected to be used as basic data for developing baby face images, and this study focuses on external face management for baby face images and baby face makeup.

  • Patients who miss teeth partially or fully show many changes which make them lose function and esthetics. From the esthetic point of view, loosing teeth makes lower face unharmonized. There are various changes of lower and whole face according as how much change oral cavity is. Restoring the multiple teeth missing properly can make patient's face harmonized. Especially full mouth implant restorations can cause drastic occlusal change affecting masticatory muscles. Because all the muscles are connected closely, the masticatory muscles which is part of lower facial muscles can cause whole muscle change. In full mouth implant restoration case, I will show the whole face muscle change harmonized by meticulous occlusal treatment process. Full mouth restorations installed in right way show whole face muscle changes extending to head and neck muscles.

  • This study evaluated the linear dimensional changes with the factor of time and thickness using of three commercially available tissue conditioners (Coe-Comport, Visco-Gel, Soft-Liner). The thickness of materials were changed (1.5mm, 3.0mm) and the percentage changes in dimension were measured at 1h(baseline), 12h, 24h, 3 days and 7days after specimen preparation. The obtained data were analyzed by ANOVA with the SAS/PC statistical package. From the results, large differences appear between the various tissue conditioners. The results suggested that the period recommended for forming functional impression would be 36h to 3days after insertion in the mouth. Depending on the type of tissue conditioner over time, as there were significant differences in the elastic change(p<0.05). Tissue conditioner of the 1.5mm, 3.0mm thickness were significantly different by the dimensional stability(p<0.05). Elastic deformation of the ideal itself, and resilient when compared only the look, Visco-Gel 3.0mm group, stability was the most stable volume. In addition, it is important to select tissue conditioners suitable for functional impression because of the wide range of dimensional stability among the materials.
