Programming Model for Web-based Mobile Agent (웹을 기반으로 한 자바 이동에이전트 프로그래밍 모델)

  • The developers of mobile agent systems are considering integrating the system into the web and the developers of web servers are also considering supporting mobile agents in the future. But they are not clearly suggesting the relationship between web programming which has basically client/server architecture and mobile agent programming which is based on autonomous code mobility. In this paper, firstly, we clarify the method for integrating mobile agent programming into web programming by suggesting the model for mobile agent programming on the web. Secondly, by developing APIs for Java which is widely used for both web programming and mobile agent programming, we made it possible for programmers to use them for programming mobile agent on the web. Thirdly, we show the usefulness of the proposed model by adding and testing modules for execution environment of mobile agents on W3C's Java based web server, Jigsaw.

A Parallel Emulation Scheme for Data-Flow Architecture on Loosely Coupled Multiprocessor Systems (이완 결합형 다중 프로세서 시스템을 사용한 데이터 플로우 컴퓨터 구조의 병렬 에뮬레이션에 관 한 연구)

  • Parallel architecture based on the von Neumann computation model has a limitation as a massively parallel architecture due to its inherent drawback of architectural features. The data-flow model of computation has a high programmability in software perspective and high scalability in hardware perspective. However, the practical programming and experimentaion of date-flow architectures are hardly available due to the absence of practical data-flow, we present a programming environment for performing the data-flow computation on conventional parallel machines in general, loosely compled multiprocessor system in particular. We build an emulator for tagged token data-flow architecture on the iPSC/2 hypercube, a loosely coupled multiprocessor system. The emulator is a shallow layer of software executing on an iPSC/2 system, and thus makes the iPSC/2 system work as a data-flow architecture from the programmer`s viewpoint. We implement various numerical and non-numerical algorithm in a data-flow assembler language, and then compare the performance of the program with those of the versions of conventional C language, Consequently, We verify the effectiveness of this programming environment based on the emulator in experimenting the data-flow computation on a conventional parallel machine.

  • Naval Combat Management System(a.k.a. CMS) is the core combat power of ROK Navy. CMS which has been localized since 1993 has been developed in various categories. However, in the characteristic of defense industry, CMS software has been rarely developed technically and structurally while the environment of computing system has been developed dramatically. A need for a new paradigm of CMS software development was raised. This paper suggests Naval Shield Component Platform(NSCP) as a standard interface architecture of CMS based on SOLID of OOP which is an advanced programming paradigm and introduce its functionality and feature. We expect NSCP's higher reusability, concurrency and maintainability in CMS software development. As a future work, we are going to apply NSCP to the next CMS software development project and evaluate quantitative, qualitative method.

The Effect of a Programming Class Using Scratch (스크래치를 이용한 프로그래밍 수업 효과)

  • Computer programming has educational effect on improving high-level thinking abilities. However, students initially have to spend too much effort in learning the basic grammar and the usage model of programming languages, which negatively affects their eagerness in learning. To remedy this problem, we propose to apply the Scratch to a Game Developing Programming Class; Scratch is an easy-to-learn and intuitive Educational Programming Language (EPL) that helps improving the Meta-cognition and Self-efficacy of middle school students. Also we used the Demonstration-Practice instruction model with self-questioning method for activating the Meta-cognition. In summary, a game developing programming class using Scratch was shown to significantly improve the Meta-cognition of middle school students. However it was shown to insignificantly improve the Self-efficacy of girl students group.

  • In this study, we present an extended complex event model by considering both of the complex event and the aspect-oriented programming. We propose an advanced scheme for the event specification suited for the event correlation based network management systems by merging these two models. Specifically, we extend the model to support hierarchical event structures and let the model recognize point-cuts of aspect-oriented programming as events. We provide the event operators designed to specify the events on instances and handle temporal relations of the instances. Lastly, we compare the proposed model with other event models and present the benefits of it.

  • This paper describes a comparative study of genetic algorithm and mathematical programming technique applied in the design optimization of geodesic dome. In particular, the genetic algorithm adopted in this study uses the so-called re-birthing technique together with the standard GA operations such as fitness, selection, crossover and mutation to accelerate the searching process. The finite difference method is used to calculate the design sensitivity required in mathematical programming techniques and three different techniques such as sequential linear programming (SLP), sequential quadratic programming(SQP) and modified feasible direction method(MFDM) are consistently used in the design optimization of geodesic dome. The optimum member sizes of geodesic dome against several external loads is evaluated by the codes $ISADO-GA{\alpha}$ and ISADO-OPT. From a numerical example, we found that both optimization techniques such as GA and mathematical programming technique are very effective to calculate the optimum member sizes of three dimensional discrete structures and it can provide a very useful information on the existing structural system and it also has a great potential to produce new structural system for large spatial structures.

  • 소프트웨어 프로세스 모형은 실세계 소프트웨어 프로세스의 개념적인 표현이다. 소프트웨어 프로세스 모형들은 프로세스 프로그래밍 언어를 통해 추상화됨으로써 모형화 될 수 있으며, 프로세스 모형들을 자동으로 수행(enactment)하고, 이미 수행된 프로세스 모형들을 체계적으로 관리하는 수행지원시스템을 통해서 소프트웨어 생산물의 질적인 향상을 기대할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 소프트웨어 프로세스의 수행 중에 발생할 수 있는 프로세스의 feedback을 지원하는 SimFlex 프로세스 프로그래밍 언어의 확장된 언어구조와 프로세스 수행지원 시스템인 SEED 엔진에서의 효과적인 feedback 지원 방법에 대하여 설명한다.

  • A low complexity, fault detecting computer architecture for utilisation in programmable logic controllers is designed. The cyclic operating mode of PLCs and a specification level, graphical programming paradigm based on the interconnection of application oriented standard software function modules are architecturally supported. Thus, by design, there is no semantic gap between the programming and machine execution levels enabling the safety licensing of application software by an extremely simple, but rigorous method, viz, diverse back translation.

Exploiting Implicit Parallelism for Single Loops in Java Programming Language (JAVA 프로그래밍 언어에서 단일루프구조의 무시적 병렬성 검출)

  • The loop is a fundamental for the parallelism exploiting as it has a large portion of execution time for sequential Java program on the parallel machine. This paper proposes the method of exploiting the implicit parallelism through the analysis of data dependence in the existing Java programming language having a single loop structure. The parallel code generation method through the restructuring compiler and the translation method of Java source program into multithread statement, which is supported in the level of the Java programming language, are also proposed here. The performance test of the program translated into the thread statement is conducted using the trip count of loop and the thread count as parameters. The restructuring compiler makes it possible for users to reduce overhead and exploit parallelism efficiently in the Java programming.

  • A programming education has favorable influence on creative / logical thinking and problem solving ability of students. However, students typically have to spend too much effort in learning basic grammar and the usage model of programming languages, which negatively affect their eagerness in learning. In this respect, we proposed to apply the 'Scratch' using the Creative Problem Solving(CPS) Teaching Model; Scratch is an easy-to-learn and intuitive Educational Programming Language(EPL) that helps improving the problem solving ability of the class. Then we verified the effect of Scratch EPL through the design of both pretest and posttest for a subject group. In summary, the CPS based Scratch EPL was shown to significantly improve the problem solving ability and also help them develop favorable attitude in programming.
