  • The effects of the substrate temperature and the Pd underlayer on the structure and the magnetic properties of Pd/Co multilayer films prepared by the thermal evaporation were studied. As the substrate temperature increases up to $150^{\circ}C$, the crystallinity of sublayers, (111) texture and the interface sharpness of Pd/Co multilayers were improved due to the enhanced mobility of adatoms. As results of that, the perpendicular and surface anisotropy energies were increased but the coercivity was decreased because the pinning sites of domain wall decreased due to the grain growth. The grain size of the multilayers increased with Pd underlyer thickness. Thermal degradation was enhanced at above $200^{\circ}C$ due to interdiffusion at the Pd/Co interface. The intensity of the main diffraction peak rapidly decayed in the initial stage of aging and then decreased slowly. The rapid change of the intensity in the initial stage was speculated to be due to the structural relaxation phenomena and the later stage change was due to the interdiffusion. The activation energy for the interdiffusion in Pd4/Co1 multilayers was 14.9 KCal/mole.K.

  • Structural change of time series means that the distribution of observations is relatively stable in the period of constituting the entire time series data, but shows a sudden change of the distribution characteristic at a specific time point. Within a non-stationary long-term time series, it is important to determine in a timely manner whether the change in short-term trends is transient or structurally changed. This is because it is necessary to always detect the change of the time series trend and to take appropriate measures to cope with the change. In this paper, we propose a method for decision makers to easily grasp the structural changes of time series by visualizing the test results based on the unit root test. Particularly, it is possible to grasp the short-term structural changes even in the long-term time series through the method of dividing the time series and testing it.

  • Utilization of the fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) material has been enlarged as a substitution material to the general construction materials having certain long-term problems such as corrosion, etc. However, it could be difficult to apply the FRP material, which has a linear shape generally, to an arch-shaped tunnel structure. Therefore, an attempt has been made in this study to develop a device to form a designed cross section of FRP material by pulling out with a curvature. A sample of the circled FRP product was successfully produced and then the sample has been tested to identify its physical characteristics. Then, intensive feasibility studies on the circled FRP panel to be used for a tunnel lining structure have been carried out by numerical analyses. As a result, it appears that the new circled FRP-concrete composite panel has a high capability to be used for a tunnel lining material without any structural problem.

  • In this paper, a stable marching-on in time(MOT) method with a time domain combined field integral equation(CFIE) is presented to obtain the transient scattering response from arbitrarily shaped three-dimensional conducting bodies. This formulation is based on a linear combination of the time domain electric field integral equation(EFIE) with the magnetic field integral equation(MFIE). The time derivatives in the EFIE and MFIE are approximated using a central finite difference scheme and other terms are averaged over time. This time domain CFIE approach produces results that are accurate and stable when solving for transient scattering responses from conducting objects. Numerical results with the proposed MOT scheme are presented and compared with those obtained from the conventional method and the inverse discrete Fourier transform(IDFT) of the frequency domain CFIE solution.

  • Different from the previous studies which investigated seismic P-$\Delta$ effect in slender columns though comparison of response spectra according to stability coefficients obtained from the analyses based on the assumed moment-curvature relationship, the axial force and P-$\Delta$ effect in RC columns are investigated on the basis of the layered section method which can effectively consider the changes of stiffness and yield strength due to the application of axial force in RC members. Practical ranges of slenderness and stability coefficient are assumed, and sixty sets of horizontal/vertical earthquake inputs are used in the analysis. From the parametric study, it is noted that the maximum deformation of the slender RC column is hardly affected by P-$\Delta$ effect or vortical earthquake but dominantly affected by the applied axial force. Therefore, it can be concluded that no additional consideration for the P-$\Delta$ effect and vortical earthquake is required in the seismic design of a slender RC column if the axial force effect is taken into account in the analysis and design procedures.

  • We analyzed flood runoff and flood characteristics of an small urban river basin which is in an apartment complex in Yewol-Dong, Buchun-Si, Gyunggi-Do. This discharge normally flows a little by intercepting sewer and interception of pollutants. However in flood period it looks like risk of flood damage by high flood discharge and increase of flood elevation. After appling the analysis model on urban runoff, using the GIS data and cross section at the basin, and then we studied the degree of flood control safety at the basin through forecasting flood elevation. Eventually, there are the flood risks from the River structure for Multi-functional Urban river as well as the river safety. As flood runoff analysis in urban, we need to consider risks which are drainage depth and other.

  • The stability of tunnel construction depends entirely on the characteristics of the soil strength. If the soil strength is weak, collapse of tunnel occurs frequently under construction. In general, it copes with collapse by conducting half section excavation or reinforcement in advance under these conditions. Nevertheless, it can be collapsed under upper section excavation in the weathered fracture zone and it can be recovered through the application of reinforcement. As it has a bad influence on the upper section in case of upheaveal of tunnel bottom, it can be adversely affected on the overall stability of the tunnel. Thus, an in-depth review of reinforcement is needed in poor bottom ground. As the practices that has a bad affect on the stability of the tunnel due to upheaveal of tunnel bottom is increasing, research is needed for applicable standards for reinforcement. In this paper, it were investigated at actual field cases of upheaveal of bottom ground and characteristics of behavior and reinforcement measures were analyzed.

  • Magnetic properties and thermal stability by exchange biased perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in (Pd/Co)$_{N}$FeMn multilayer deposited by do magnetron sputtering system are investigated. We measured the perpendicular magnetization curves of (Pd(0.8nm)/Co(0.8nm)$_{5}$FeMn multilayer as function of FeMn thickness and annealing temperature. As FeMn thickness increases from 0 to 21nm, the perpendicular exchange bias(Hex) obtained 127 Oe at FeMn thickness 15nm. As the annealing temperature increases to 24$0^{\circ}C$, the E$_{ex}$ increased from 115 Oe to 190 Oe and disappeared exchange biased perpendicular magnetic anisotropy effect at 33$0^{\circ}C$.

  • In this study we analyzed flood runoff and flood characteristics of an small urban river basin which is in an apartment complex in Yewol-Dong, Buchun-Si, Gyunggi-Do. A little discharge normally flows in the river, however this small river has a relatively high potential of flood damage risk in the flood season due to the high flood level and velocity. Therefore we used the GIS data, cross section data in the river, HEC-RAS model, etc. for investigating safety of a river against flood runoff and also we investigated the stability of hydraulic structures and ability of flood prevention in the river. As the result of investigation, we found that the river had the risk of flood damage occurrence due to the hydraulic structures constructed for various purposes in the river. So we should analyze backwater effect by the structures and consider the risk factors can be occurred by the flood runoff and velocity for more safe design of a small river basin in the residential area such as an apartment complex in the urban area.

  • Natural cavitied were found at shallow depth during construction of a huge bridge in Cambro-Ordovician Limestone Basin in the central part or Korea. The distribution patterns of cavities in this area were investigated carefully with a supplementary field job such as a structural geological survey, a geophysical survey, and a rock mechanical test in laboratory or field. A structural geological mapping produced a detail geological map focusing the route of the Proposed highway. It suggested that there were three faults in this wet and these faults had an influence on the mechanism of natural cavities. Among many kinds of geophysical surveys, an electrical resistivity prospecting was applied first on the specific area that was selected by results from the geological survey. Many evidences far cavities were disclosed from this geophysical data. Therefore, a seismic tomography was tested on the target wet which was focused by results from the electrical resistivity Prospecting and was believed to have several large cavities. A distinct element numerical simulation using the UDEC was followed on the target area after completing all of field surveys. Data from field tests were directly dumped or extrapolated to numerical simulations as input data. It was verified from numerical analysis that several natural cavities underneath the foundation of the bridge should be reinforced Based on the project result, finally, most of fecundations far the bridge were re-examined and the cement grouting reinforcement was constructed on several foundations among them.
