  • A turn buckle inserted between tension members that sustain the structural loads in a suspension structure system is a device that is capable of adjusting the tensile force. The tension member is an important element of a tension structure, but no simple and economical method of measuring a tensile force applied to members has been proposed yet. Thus, a turn buckle for measuring the tensile force in a tension member was developed in this study. The turn buckles of the measurement limit loads of 100kN, 200kN, and 300kN were tested through a theoretical analysis and a finite element analysis. There was no significant difference in the results of the theoretical analysis, FEA, and the test. In addition, the ultimate strength of the turn buckle using FEA showed that a new turn buckle is sufficiently safe to use even when there is a five-times overload in the measurement limit load.

  • In this study, 4 directional carbon/carbon composites with different preform architectures were manufactured and their thermophysical properties are studied. Carbon fiber preforms are fabricated with fiber bundles using four different spaces. The density of the fabricated preforms were increased through pressure impregnation and carbonizing process. The increased density of the composites was graphitized at $2300^{\circ}C$. Microstructures of these composite were observed under scanning electron microscope. This was to understand the effect the preform architectures has on the thermophysical properties of carbon/carbon composites. Also, the behavior of thermal conduction and heat expansion was investigated and studied in association with the factors of the reinforced direction of fibers and unit cell of preforms.

  • Generally, high performance concrete has characteristics such as low water-cementitious material ratio, lots of unit binder powder, thus the heat of hydration, autogenous shrinkage are tend to be increased. This study is to investigated the effect of the expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent on the shrinkage properties of high performance concrete as a study to develop the reduction technology of the concrete shrinkage. Test results showed that the expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent were effective the reduction of shrinkage of high performance concrete. Especially, the using method in combination with expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent was more effective than the separately using method of that. Also, it analyzed that the combination of expansive additive of 5% and shrinkage reducing agent of 1% was the most suitable mixture, considering to the fluidity, strength and shrinkage properties.
