A Study on The Introduction of Truck only Lane on Expressway using VISSIM (마이크로 시뮬레이션을 이용한 고속도로 화물차 전용차로 도입에 관한 연구)

  • The high distribution costs causes the increasing of truck delivery time and cost, which results in reducing industrial competitiveness incre. Therefore, This study conducted research into the introduction of truck only lane for reducting distribution costs. The site of study is Keumho JCT ~ Namgumi IC of Kyeongbu Expressway which has much truck traffic because of industrial complex. Thus, this study deduced travel speed and density in each scenaria(base, bus only lane, truck only lane, two only lane). According to analysis result, if a truck only lane install, the average driving speed is 83.4km/h as a highest and density 22.47veh/km as lowest. it means that if the truck only lane is install, it will be positive influence on the expressway

An Estimation of Link Travel Time by Using BMS Data (BMS 데이터를 활용한 링크단위 여행시간 산출방안에 관한 연구)

  • Now, UTIS collects and provides traffic information by building RSE 1,150(unit) and OBE about 51,000(vehicle). it's inevitable to enlarge traffic information sources which use to improve quality of UTIS traffic information for Stabilizing UTIS's service. but there are missing data sections. And, In this study as a way to overcome these problems, based on BIS(Bus information system) installed and operating in the capital area to develop normal vehicle's link transit time estimation model which is used realtime collecting BMS data, we'll utilize the model to provide missing data section's information. For these problem, we selected partial section of suwon-city, anyang-city followed by drive only way or not and conducted model estimating and verification each of BMS data and UTIS traffic information. Consequently, Case2,4,6,8 presented highly credibility between UTIS communication data and estimated value but In the Case 3,5 we determined to replace communication data of UTIS' missing data section too hard for large error. So we need to apply high credibility model formula adjusting road managing condition and the situation of object section.

Queue Length Based Real-Time Traffic Signal Control Methodology Using sectional Travel Time Information (구간통행시간 정보 기반의 대기행렬길이를 이용한 실시간 신호제어 모형 개발)

  • The expansion of the physical road in response to changes in social conditions and policy of the country has reached the limit. In order to alleviate congestion on the existing road to reconsider the effectiveness of this method should be asking. Currently, how to collect traffic information for management of the intersection is limited to point detection systems. Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) was the traffic information collection system of point detection method such as through video and loop detector in the past. However, intelligent transportation systems of the next generation(C-ITS) has evolved rapidly in real time interval detection system of collecting various systems between the pedestrian, road, and car. Therefore, this study is designed to evaluate the development of an algorithm for queue length based real-time traffic signal control methodology. Four coordinates estimate on time-space diagram using the travel time each individual vehicle collected via the interval detector. Using the coordinate value estimated during the cycle for estimating the velocity of the shock wave the queue is created. Using the queue length is estimated, and determine the signal timing the total queue length is minimized at intersection. Therefore, in this study, it was confirmed that the calculation of the signal timing of the intersection queue is minimized.

  • The objective of this thesis is to develop a capacity analysis and to develop a methodology to evaluate Level of Service over the entire freeway sections by single MOE (Measure of Effectiveness) This study set forth from a following viewpoint. to analyze entire freeway sections as freeway facility system, it is important to identify the exact point where congestion would occur and the extent of the congestion. Therefore, in this thesis, congestion mechanism on freeways was figured out and congestion analysis methodology was developed. Thereby maximum possible throughput rate and maximum throughput rate in bottleneck sections were calculated and a congestion analysis was carried out. The difference between the new method and existing Procedures is that maximum possible throughput rate and maximum throughput rate. that can be considered as capacities of un-congested and congested flow in the bottleneck section, are variable capacities dependent on demand flow.

Study of Downward Speed Limit of Main Roads on Traffic Accident and Effect Analysis - In Busan Metropolitan City - (간선도로 최고속도제한 하향이 교통사고에 미치는 영향 및 효과분석 - 부산광역시를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of downward speed limit of urban arterial roads at 29 sites in Busan Metropolitan Police Agency to reduce road traffic accidents from '10 to '15. As a result of analyzing the traffic accidents occurred for 1~3 years after the decrease in the speed limit, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 3.09% and the number of injured persons decreased by 8.76%, but the number of deaths decreased by 36.73% The results of this study are as follows. The average speed reduction rate of 6.31km/h was decreased by investigating the change of the vehicle speed before and after the downward speed limit, and the change of average speed was statistically significant in most of the sections. The rate of compliance with the speed limit increased by 10.26% p, which is considered to have greatly improved overall traffic safety. A survey conducted by residents near the target area with a lower speed limit showed that 57.9% of the respondents felt the driving speed of the vehicle was lowered. However, this project was focused on vehicles with limited speed road signs and traffic safety signs, Only 25.8% of respondents said walking safety was improved. In the future, it is necessary to consider the safety of pedestrians by improving roads around roads such as road curvature and separation. In addition, there is a clear positive result in terms of decreasing the fatal accidents in the downward speed limit zone of Busan Metropolitan Subway. However, more detailed analysis is needed for the 29 accidents. Therefore, it is expected that traffic practitioners will be able to utilize it as a basis to increase the accident reduction effect by setting an appropriate speed limit based on the easy and objective grounds.

A study on the imputation solution for missing speed data on UTIS by using adaptive k-NN algorithm (적응형 k-NN 기법을 이용한 UTIS 속도정보 결측값 보정처리에 관한 연구)

  • UTIS(Urban Traffic Information System) directly collects link travel time in urban area by using probe vehicles. Therefore it can estimate more accurate link travel speed compared to other traffic detection systems. However, UTIS includes some missing data caused by the lack of probe vehicles and RSEs on road network, system failures, and other factors. In this study, we suggest a new model, based on k-NN algorithm, for imputing missing data to provide more accurate travel time information. New imputation model is an adaptive k-NN which can flexibly adjust the number of nearest neighbors(NN) depending on the distribution of candidate objects. The evaluation result indicates that the new model successfully imputed missing speed data and significantly reduced the imputation error as compared with other models(ARIMA and etc). We have a plan to use the new imputation model improving traffic information service by applying UTIS Central Traffic Information Center.

  • 철도는 대량수송 및 정시제 운행이라는 중요한 역할을 하면서도 다른 한편으로는 철도연변에 거주하고 있는 사람들에게 상당한 소음공해를 미쳐 정온한 생활환경을 누릴 권리를 침해하고 있음에도 불구하고 철도소음을 관리하는 기준이나 대책등이 아직 미미한 실정이다. 향후 5년 내에는 고속철도의 등장도 확실하지만 기존 재래식 철도에 대한 소음 실태 자료마저 충분치 않아 철도연변의 소음진동 문제를 해결하기 위한 기본적 수단인 소음 기준 제시를 위해서는 폭넓은 기초 자료확보와 새로운 관련연구가 요청되었다. 이러한 필요성에 따라 전기기관차를 중심으로 영동선, 중앙선, 태백선, 경인선, 경원선 및 대도시 도심지를 관통하는 호남선 및 경부선 중에서 측정환경이 양호한 22개 지역을 선정하여 기존 철도의 구간별 30분, 1시간, 2시간, 3시간 등가소음도를 측정하였고 선로의 조건, 열차의 종류 및 속도, 거리권별 등에 따른 개별열차 통행시의 소음특성을 조사하여 철도소음의 기준 설정과 방지대책 강구시에 활용할 수 있도록 하며, 열차 통행속도로부터 최고소음도를 추정하여 주변지역의 등가소음도를 산정할 수 잇는 예측식을 도출하여 측정방법 개정에 활용하고, 그리고 선로변에 위치한 공동주택을 대상으로 층별 철도소음 노출도와 열차통과시의 공동주택 실내.외의 소음도를 비교조사하여 벽체 차음 효과를 조사하였고 철도소음에 대한 주민반응 조사를 하였다.

A Study on Reliability Improvement of Traffic Information by Integrating Security and Traffic AVI Data (방범-교통 AVI의 통합 DB를 활용한 교통정보 신뢰성 개선방안 연구)

  • AVIs on the road are installed for (1) security (2) and for traffic, and they are various managed by (1) police department, (2) local government, (3) national highway management, (4) Korean highway corporation. But although the collected data of the plate number, the travel time, the picture of the car are same, they are used in purposes of its installation because the managements are different and the data are difficult to be connected with each other. For this reason, this study is to appraise the application for creating traffic information by integrating these data, and to suggest the introduction of spatial detection system which integrated security-traffic AVI DB for the purpose of reliability improvement of center's velocity. The estimating sections of link travel information seems to be expanded, and the error rate between the center's velocity and the experimental value will be reduced if integrated DB of traffic and security AVIs is used for creating traffic information. Also, the crime prevention and arrest rate is expected to rise in the future.

Analysis of Safety and Mobility of Expressway Land Control System (길어깨차로제 시행에 따른 안전성 및 이동성 분석)

  • The domastic hard shoulder running(HSR) System has been gradually expanding since its initial implementation in September 2007 with the aim of increasing capacity and resolving congestion. Hard Shoulder is used as a space for driver's visual comfort and a place for vehicles to evacuate in case of emergency, but it is replaced by a space for driving when the HSR System is implemented. Therefore, it was intended to determine the improvement effect before and after implementation of the HSR system through safety analysis and mobility analysis. The safety analysis analyzed the impact of traffic accidents by comparing HSR sections and similar sections. The mobility analysis was to determine the improvement effect by quantifying the speed and traffic volume changes before and after HSR System implementation. According to safety yanalysis, there is no effect of reducing traffic accidents when implementing the HSR System. In mobility analysis, the implementation of the HSR System significantly improved the speed of traffic during peak hours and significantly reduces slow and delay hours.

  • Management of the existing traffic network and understanding current traffic conditions is the most important and effective way to solve traffic congestion. This research investigates the status of Korea expressway through the Speed-Flow-Density diagram and finds the best suitable queueing model for each area. Dynamic structure in the queueing model enables us to reflect the structural change of the road in case of traffic congestion. To find the best model and estimate the parameters, we use the Newton-Raphson method. Finally, we examine the road efficiency in view of the optimal speed and density using the conditional distribution of speed and density of a S-F-D diagram.
