Improvement of Representative Value through Comparison of the Reliability of point detector : focusing on traffic volume (지점검지기 신뢰도 비교를 통한 대표치 생성 개선방안 : 구간 교통량을 중심으로)

  • With the increase in image detectors, concerns about the reliability of traffic information are increasing. In this paper, we propose a method to generate reliable traffic volume using analysis of the point detector data as a representative value. Therefore, targeting expressway, we analyzed the difference in traffic volume collected by loop and image detector, and verified statistically using t-test, and finally analyzed the error rate compare to the real traffic volume. Analysis revealed that there was a statistically difference the traffic date collected by the loop detector and the image detector, in the same period, the same time, respectively. In addition, the difference between the actual traffic volume and traffic that have been collected in a loop detector was the lowest Therefore, creating a traffic volume of representative value, we proposed a method to use loop detector than the average traffic volume collected by each detector. It shows that it is more important to use one high-quality data rather than various low-quality data to produce a representative value.

Development of A Simulation for Automatic Installation of Detection Area by Image Detector (영상검지기의 검지영역 자동설정을 위한 모의실험기 개발)

  • 본 연구에서는 3차원그래픽스를 이용하여 영상검지기에서의 교통정보를 얻기 위한 검지영역 설정시 안정된 검지영역을 찾기 위한 시뮬레이터를 개발하였다. 기존의 영상검지기에서는 사용자가 임의로 검지영역을 설정하여 교통정보를 수집함으로 인하여 안정된 교통정보를 얻기가 어려웠으며, 영상카메라의 설치시 과다한 설치규격의 설정으로 비효율적 측면이 발생될 수 있다. 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해서는 영상검지기를 현장에 설치하기 전에 영상검지기 설치를 위한 사전 모의실험을 토대로 최적의 안정된 설치위치 결정이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서 개발한 모의 실험기는 도로의 기하구조와 차량을 모델화 하고 이를 3차원으로 좌표화하여 좌표변환식과 원근변환식을 이용하여 3차원좌표를 2차원으로 변환시키고 컴퓨터 모니터에 투영하여 대상 설치위치에서의 결과를 가시화하였다. 본 연구는 개발된 모의실험기의 적용성 검토를 위하여 현재 영상검지기를 운영중에 있는 한 접근로를 대상으로 사례연구를 수행하였다. 수행결과 교통량과 통행속도계측시 최적검지영역 설정을 위한 영상검지기의 설치규격은 높이가 각각 7m, 12m이상이며, 수직각은 각각 $30^{\circ}$, $80^{\circ}$인 것으로 나타났다.

Evaluation of GPS Data Applicability to Traffic Information Collection after SA Removal (SA해제 이후 GPS데이터의 교통정보수집 적용가능성 평가)

  • The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the applicability of GPS data for real-time traffic information collection especially after SA removal. Two major results have been reported. One is the GPS data availability and/or useful data point density for travel time estimation using Circle-X algorithm. 87.23% of data points can be mobilized after SA whereas only 29.94% of data was useful in calculating travel time. The other is the possible reduction of the buffer size that is used for screening the points of all GPS into useful and useless data, respectively. With these outcomes, it is safely expected that the regular GPS alone can provide the data points for real-time travel time estimation instead of the more expensive DGPS system.

  • Real-time traffic data are readily obtainable by traffic surveillance systems of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Such data greatly support further applications in the field of traffic operations, planning, and safety. However, traffic data should be appropriately processed to fully exploit the benefits of data collection capability. Rather than developing individual data processing techniques, which is major concern of existing studies, this study proposes a novel methodology for evaluating data processing techniques in an integrated manner. Also, a tool for implementing the proposed methodology is developed. Users can extract useful and more reliable traffic data based upon their ultimate purpose of data usage by the evaluation tool developed in this study. Actual freeway traffic data are, as an example, fed into the evaluation tool, and results are discussed.

  • 해상감시레이더는 관제지역의 해상교통정보를 수집하는 해상교통관제시스템의 주요 센서로, 다양한 운동 특성을 갖는 선박의 안정적인 추적과 위치, 속도, 침로 등의 정확한 정보를 제공하는 것은 VTS 성능 개선 및 서비스 고도화에 매우 중요한 요소 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 해상교통관제시스템에서 다양한 기동 특성을 갖는 선박의 정확한 추적을 위하여 상호작용 다중필터(IMM) 추정기를 이용한 추적 알고리즘을 설계하고, 모의실험을 통하여 필터 뱅크의 구성에 따른 성능 비교 및 분석을 수행한다.

A Study on Safety Impacts for VMS Traffic Information (VMS 교통정보의 교통안전효과에 관한 연구)

  • Recently ITS have been increasingly applied on the roads to resolve traffic problems. Especially, Variable Message Sign (VMS), which is the one of ITS for traffic management and traffic safety, can be used for providing information about road conditions, climate conditions. In this study, data acquisition and statistical analysis were conducted for estimating safety impacts of providing traffic information through VMS. As a result of analyzing traffic characteristics before and after providing traffic information through VMS, average travel speed was decreased and vehicles tended to drive on centerline of lanes in 1st and 2nd lane after providing traffic information through VMS. Also, in order to analyze safety impacts of provided VMS traffic information, traffic safety hazard zone was established in each lane and probability distributions of passing traffic on the study area was estimated through Anderson-Darling Test. As a result of this, safety impacts of VMS traffic information in 1st lane could, on average, increase in left and right side of the lane by 0.69% and 7.07%, respectively. In case of 2nd lane, safety impacts could, on average, increase in left and right side of the lane by 2.71% and 0.02%, respectively.

Queue Length Based Real-Time Traffic Signal Control Methodology Using sectional Travel Time Information (구간통행시간 정보 기반의 대기행렬길이를 이용한 실시간 신호제어 모형 개발)

  • The expansion of the physical road in response to changes in social conditions and policy of the country has reached the limit. In order to alleviate congestion on the existing road to reconsider the effectiveness of this method should be asking. Currently, how to collect traffic information for management of the intersection is limited to point detection systems. Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) was the traffic information collection system of point detection method such as through video and loop detector in the past. However, intelligent transportation systems of the next generation(C-ITS) has evolved rapidly in real time interval detection system of collecting various systems between the pedestrian, road, and car. Therefore, this study is designed to evaluate the development of an algorithm for queue length based real-time traffic signal control methodology. Four coordinates estimate on time-space diagram using the travel time each individual vehicle collected via the interval detector. Using the coordinate value estimated during the cycle for estimating the velocity of the shock wave the queue is created. Using the queue length is estimated, and determine the signal timing the total queue length is minimized at intersection. Therefore, in this study, it was confirmed that the calculation of the signal timing of the intersection queue is minimized.

  • 우리나라의 경우 교통정보수집용 검지기는 루프검지기가 주종을 있으며, 지금까지 한국에서 루프검지기를 대체할 수 있는 영상 및 초단파검지기와 같은 대체검지기에 대한 평가는 단속류 보디는 연속류 상황에 대한 평가로 제한되어 왔다. 한편 최근들어 점차 고속도로를 중심으로 영상검지기의 설치개소수가 급속히 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 이 영상검지기의 경우 연속 교통류 상황의 15 분 혹은 5 분 단위의 점유율, 교통량, 속도등의 교통변수 측정정확도는 검지시스템의 요구사항을 충족하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 한국의 장래 교통관리 첨단화에 요구되는 교통자료 수집수준을 시가지도로 및 고속도로를 중심으로 파악하고, 루프검지기의 대체 검지기로서 영상검지기에 대한 성능평가 및 분석을 실시하였다.

Drivers' Dynamic Route Choice Mechanism Analysis under ATIS Environment Using WATiSim (WATiSim을 활용한 운전자의 실시간 경로선택 분석)

  • A simulation tool for an optimal ATIS design and drivers' dynamic route choice behavior analysis is developed, which is applicable to urban networks. Due to the difficulty to make drivers feel the time pressure according to traffic conditions, current SP questionnaire survey type surveys have a limitation to capture correct driver reactions to real-time traffic Information provision. The simulator Is a web-based upgraded version, named WATiSim (Web-based ATIS Simulator), to quickly perform a wide population survey with a minimal cost using INTERNET Furthermore, the time pressure issue is lessened by its interface and simulation modules. After WATiSim mimicked a VMS based ATIS in a partial network of Seoul Metropolitan, reactions of drivers to various traffic conditions were surveyed through INTERNET and analyzed using a logit model. Drivers under the ATIS environment clearly understood the provided traffic information, and their reactions were closely related to traffic conditions, scheduled delay, trip purposes as well as toll charge if any.

유사기관 운영시스템 사례를 통한 VTS시스템의 패러다임 변화

  • 관제장비 기술의 발전으로 표출정보의 증가으로 관제사의 관리선박들은 급증하였지만, 수집된 고품질의 정보들을 어떻게 활용하여 관제사에게 관제 편의성을 제공할 시스템은 발전되지 않았다. 유사기관 운영시스템 사례를 벤치마킹하여, 기존 정보수집 중심 VTS시스템에서 기상특보 자동발송 시스템, VTS시스템과 V-Pass시스템 결합, 조난신호 표출시스템 등 관제사 중심(편의) 시스템을 예를 들어 제안함으로써 새로운 VTS시스템으로의 패러다임 변화를 하고자 한다.
