A Hybrid Search Method of A* and Dijkstra Algorithms to Find Minimal Path Lengths for Navigation Route Planning (내비게이션 경로설정에서 최단거리경로 탐색을 위한 A*와 Dijkstra 알고리즘의 하이브리드 검색법)

  • In navigation route planning systems using A* algorithms, the cardinality of an Open list, which is a list of candidate nodes through which a terminal node can be accessed, increases as the path length increases. In this paper, a method of alternately utilizing the Dijkstra's algorithm and the A* algorithm to reduce the cardinality of the Open list is investigated. In particular, by employing a depth parameter, named Level, the two algorithms are alternately performed depending on the Level's value. Using the hybrid searching approach, the Open list constructed in the Dijkstra's algorithm is transferred into the Open list of the A* algorithm, and consequently, the unconstricted increase of the cardinality of the Open list of the former algorithm can be avoided and controlled appropriately. In addition, an optimal or nearly optimal path similar to the Dijkstra's route, but not available in the A* algorithm, can be found. The experimental results, obtained with synthetic and real-life benchmark data, demonstrate that the computational cost, measured with the number of nodes to be compared, was remarkably reduced compared to the traditional searching algorithms, while maintaining the similar distance to those of the latter algorithms. Here, the values of Level were empirically selected. Thus, a study on finding the optimal Level values, while taking into consideration the actual road conditions remains open.

The Fatigue Life Evaluation of Aged Continuous Welded Rail on the Urban Railway (도시철도 장기 사용레일의 피로수명 평가)

  • As a result of recent research, it is reported that the periodic replacements criterion of rails is able to extend as grinding rail surface and using the continuous welded rail (CWR). In this study, we carried out fatigue tests on existing laid rails. Based on the test results, an S-N curve expressing the remaining life of laid rails at a fracture probability of 50% was obtained using weighted probit analysis suitable for small-sample fatigue data sets. As rails used for testing had different histories in terms of accumulated tonnage, the test data were corrected to average out the accumulated tonnage. We estimated the remaining service lives for laid rails on the urban railway using equations developed in the past to estimate rail base bending stress and that surface irregularities into consideration. Therefore, estimating the remaining service life of laid rails showed that the rail replacement period could be extended over 200 MGT, although it is necessary to remove longitudinal rail surface irregularities at welds by grinding. Also, the fatigue test results under fatigue limit, Haibach's rule appling half slope of S-N curve under the fatigue limit was considered more reasonable than modified Miner's rule for estimating rail fatigue life.

Assessment of LCD Color Display Performance Based on AAPM TG 18 Protocol : Decision of Quality Control and Calibration Period (판독용 LCD 컬러 모니터 장치의 성능 평가 - 성능 평가 및 Calibration 주기 결정을 중심으로 -)

  • Purpose: This study is to decide a quality control and calibration period of LCD display devices used for reading diagnostic images. Materias and Methods: The assessment test of 20 flat panel LCD color display devices used for reading diagnostic images were performed based on AAPM TG 18 protocol over the total six sessions at one month intervals from three months after primary calibration, in terms of geometric distortion, reflection test, luminance response evaluation, luminance uniformity, resolution, noise, veiling glare and chromaticity test. Results: The results of geometric distortion, reflection test, luminance uniformity, resolution, noise, veiling glare and chromaticity test were within the criteria recommended by AAPM TG 18, except for luminance response evaluation. In the measured luminance deviation of luminance response evaluation, 4(25%) of 20 display devices were passed a criterion from four months after calibration, and 11 (55%) were passed from eight months. Also in the contrast response of the luminance response evaluation, 1(5%) display device was passed a criterion from four months after calibration, and 3(15%) were passed from eight months. Conclusion: Considering the passing deviation after calibration, the time required and a manpower, the quality control and calibration period of LCD display devices used for reading diagnostic images should be a three months and six months after calibration.

  • While read operation on flash memory is fast and doesn't have any constraints, flash memory can not be overwritten on updating data, new data are updated in new area. If data are frequently updated, garbage collection, which is achieved by erasing blocks, should be performed to reclaim new area. Hence, because the number of erase operations is limited due to characteristics of flash memory, every block should be evenly written and erased. However, if data with access locality are processed by cost benefit algorithm with separation of hot block and cold block, though the performance of processing is high, wear-leveling is not even. In this paper, we propose CB-MG (Cost Benefit between Multi Group) algorithm in which hot data are allocated in one group and cold data in another group, and in which role of hot group and cold group is exchanged every period. Experimental results show that performance and wear-leveling of CB-MG provide better results than those of CB-S.

  • Generally, there are three ways to remove VOCs from the small painting booth; adsorption, burn and oxidation catalyst. RTO and RCO are high efficiency methods for removing VOCs. But they require large installation areas, which are not suitable for the small painting booth. And we need a new removing method because it is difficult to predict the A/C changing time and the recycle time. To solve these problems, we have developed the Arc plasma system which is simple and enable consecutive-use. It removes VOCs effectively and eco-friendly. In this study we have investigated the enrichment material and VOCs removal efficiency.

고리 1호기 계속운전 추진 현황

  • 고리 1호기는 한국에서 최초로 규제 기관에 계속운전을 신청한 원전이다. 2007년 6월에 설계 수명 기간 만료가 되는 고리 1호기는 규제 기관으로부터 계속운전(Continued Operation)에 대한 안전성 심사를 받고 있다. 한수원은 고리 1호기 계속운전 승인을 금년 12월에 받기 위해 최선을 다하고 있으며 지역 주민의 사회적 수용성 확보를 위해 노력중이다. 고리 1호기의 계속운전 기간 동안 안전성을 평가하고 정리한 안전성평가보고서를 한수원은 2006년 6월에 정부에 제출하였다. 고리 1호기는 웨스팅하우스의 2루프 가압경수로이다. 이와 동일한 원전인 일본의 미하마 1,2호기와 겐까이1호기가 계속운전중이며, 미국의 기네이와 포인트 비치 1,2호기가 계속운전 승인을 받았다. 제출한 안전성평가보고서에 대해 한국원자력안전기술원이 심사중이며, 해외 원전과 같이 계속운전을 할 수 있을 것으로 예상하고 있다. 또한 계속운전을 위한 사회적 수용성(Public Acceptance) 확보는 설비의 철저한 안전성 확보 및 지역 주민의 공감대 형성을 통해서 이루어질 것이다. 설계 수명 이후 원자력발전소를 계속 운전하는 것은 이미 선진국에서 시행되고 있다. 2007년 3월 기준으로 미국에서 48기가 운영 허가 갱신 승인을 받았고, 영국은 8기, 일본은 12기가 계속운전중이다. 고리 1호기 성능 지표를 개선시키기 위해서 한수원은 증기발생기, 저압 터빈, 원자로 냉각재 펌프 내장품, 주변압기, 주발전기 등을 교체하였으며, 수명관리 연구, 주기적안전성 평가, 환경 영향 평가를 수행하였다. 2005년 9월에는 미국의 운영 허가 갱신 제도를 참조하여 원자력법이 개정되었다. 이에 한수원은 개정된 원자력법에 맞추어 주기적 안전성평가, 주요 기기에 대한 수명 평가 및 방사능 환경 영향평가를 하였다. 이 세가지 보고서들로 구성된 안전성평가보고서를 2006년 6월에 규제 기관에 제출하였다. 계속운전은 한국을 비롯하여 부존 자원이 부족한 국가들에게는 에너지 자원의 효율적 활용 및 온실 가스 배출을 고려할 때 반드시 필요한 것이다.

  • In this paper, a new cluster configuration process is proposed. The energy consumption of sensor nodes is reduced by configuring the initial setup process only once with keeping the initial cluster. Selecting the highest power consumed node of the member nodes within the cluster to the header of next round can distribute power consumption of all nodes in the cluster evenly. With this proposed way, the lifetime of the USN is increased by the reduced energy consumption of all nodes in the cluster. Also, evenly distributed power consumptions of sensors are designed to improve the energy hole problem. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithms is confirmed through simulations.

  • Rapid development of internet service is enabling internet banking services in anywhere and anytime. However, service access through internet can be exposed to adversary easily. To prevent, current service providers execute authentication process with user's identification and password. However, majority of users use short and simple password and do not periodically change their password. As a result of this, user's password could be exposed to attacker's brute force attack. In this paper, we presented enhanced password system which guarantee higher security even though users do not change their current password. The method uses additional secret information to replace real password periodically without replacement of real password.

  • BIM(Building Information Modeling) technologies are the most effective for the maintenance of infrastructures because they provide information sharing througout the life-cycle of structures and support close communication between different project stages. Systematic and well-organized data play a fundamental role for the effective maintenance of subway tunnel. In this paper, 3D information models for maintenance of BIM-based subway tunnel structures are developed. Standard classifications for the maintenance and construction information classification system were adopted. A classification system based on construction information classification system was built considering procedures of maintenance work. It provides optimization and standardization of the work flow for the maintenance of subway structures by applying information modeling processes instead of the current maintenance practices. It can effectively reduces the life cycle cost and time for the maintenance. The proposed system can be utilized for the maintenance history management to enhance current maintenance system.

  • After the completion of an apartment housing project, deterioration of building materials will commence over time. Building maintenance consists of short-time and long-term repair projects. A long-term repair plan for organized maintenance management should be developed and implemented to maintain the longevity of the building. When forming such a plan, one should carefully predict when each part of the building will need repairs and how often subsequent repairs of each part will occur. The plan should be based on these predictions. Many apartment buildings in Korea have poor long-term maintenance management plans. This is because many of these plans are developed as mere legal formalities rather than as serious attempts to maintain the longevity of buildings. In this study, the materials used in the construction of each part of an apartment building we selected are taken into account to predict when the repairs will be required and how frequently subsequent repairs will be required. Furthermore, We suggest a long-term maintenance management plan for elongation so that apartment house managers can use to periodically check, diagnose, and replace old or malfunctioning parts using a web-based maintenance calender.
