A Passive Traffic Signal Priority Control Algorithm for Emergency Vehicles (긴급차량 우선신호 센터제어 알고리즘 개발)

  • This study develops a passive traffic signal priority control algorithm for emergency vehicles. The passive priority control estimates and applies signal times for each signalized intersection on the emergency vehicle's route when an emergency call is received. As signals are controlled before the emergency vehicle leaves for its destination, it is possible to clear the queues at each intersection more effectively. Most of the previous studies applied preemption, which ends green time of cross streets when the emergency vehicle arrives at each intersection. This study applies green extension and early green in order not to shift the order of phases, and guarantees minimum green time for each phase. Simulation results show that the delay of emergency vehicles decreases when the signals are controlled. It is expected that delays can be decreased further by integrating the active priority control with the passive priority control algorithm presented in this study.

Application of GIS to Select Viewpoints for Landscape Analysis (경관분석 조망점 선정을 위한 GIS의 적용방안)

  • The concern on environmental quality makes the landscape analysis more important than before ever. For the landscape analysis, selection of viewpoint is one of most important stage. Because of its subjectiveness, the conventional viewpoint selection method often missed some viewpoints of importance. The purpose of this study is to develop a viewpoint selection method for landscape analysis using GIS data and techniques. During the viewpoint selection process, spatial and attribute data from several GIS systems were hired. Query and overlay methods were mainly adapted for analysis to find out meaningful viewpoints. The 3D simulation analysis on DEM(Digital Elevation Model) was used for every selected viewpoint to examine wether the view target is screened out or not. Application study at a sample site showed some omissions of good viewpoints without any screening. It also exhibited the possibility to reduce time and cost for the viewpoint selection process of landscape analysis. For the progress of applicability, GIS data analysis process have to be improved and more modules such as automatic screening analysis system on selected viewpoint have to be developed.

Analysis of the Angular Selectivity due to the Focused Readout Beamin Photorefractive Grating (광굴절 격자에서 집속 판독빔에 의한 각도 선택 특성 분석)

  • An angular selectivity through the focused readout beam is geometrically analyzed and experimental results are presented. Based on the analysis of geometrical results, we derive a new relation that the angular selectivity depends on incident conditions of the readout beam and independent on the writing conditions. In order to demonstrate our theory, we investigate angular selectivity as functions of following factors: writing beam incident angle, readout beam width and lens focal length. From the experimental results, it is shown that the angular selectivities are 2.632$^{\circ}$, 2.618$^{\circ}$, 2.604$^{\circ}$ when the external half-crossing angles of writing beam are 8$^{\circ}$, 10$^{\circ}$, 14$^{\circ}$, respectively. Applying the same incident angle of the recording beam, angular selectivity is changed by the control of readout beam width and then their properties are 2.632$^{\circ}$, 0.588$^{\circ}$. From these results, we have known that the angular selectivity is very critical to incident conditions of readout beam.

  • This paper proposes a robust and computationally efficient algorithm for automatic video object segmentation. For implementing the spatio-temporal segmentation, which aims for efficient combination of the motion segmentation and the color segmentation, an SOM-based hierarchical clustering method in which the segmentation process is regarded as clustering of feature vectors is employed. As results, problems of high computational complexity which required for obtaining exact segmentation results in conventional video object segmentation methods, and the performance degradation due to noise are significantly reduced. A measure of motion vector reliability which employs MRF-based MAP estimation scheme has been introduced to minimize the influence from the motion estimation error. In addition, a noise elimination scheme based on the motion reliability histogram and a clustering validity index for automatically identifying the number of objects in the scene have been applied. A cross projection method for effective object tracking and a dynamic memory to maintain temporal coherency have been introduced as well. A set of experiments has been conducted over several video sequences to evaluate the proposed algorithm, and the efficiency in terms of computational complexity, robustness from noise, and higher segmentation accuracy of the proposed algorithm have been proved.

Comparison of Absorption Rate Between Piroxicam-$\beta$-Cyclodextrin and Piroxicam in Korean Healthy Subjects After A Single Dose Administration (정상 성인 한국인에서 Piroxicam-$\beta$-cyclodextrin 정과 Piroxicam 확산정의 1회 투여시의 흡수속도 비교)

  • Piroxicam-$\beta$-cyclodextrin은 piroxicam을 $\beta$-cyclodextrin으로 포접시킨 비스테로이드성 항염증약물이다. 이러한 포접형 약물은 위장관에서의 흡수속도가 증가하는 것으로 외국자료에서 보고되고 있으며 이는 이 약물의 위장관 내성에 보다 나은 영향을 끼칠 수 있음을 시사하고 있다. 본 연구는 정상성인 한국인을 대상으로 randomized, crossover design에 의해 piroxicam-$\beta-cyclodextrin(Brexin^{(R)})$과 piroxicam 확산정$(Feldene^{(R)})$ 흡수속도를 비교하고자 하였다. 건강한 성인 8명의 피험자를 2군으로 나누어 시험약 또는 대조약을 각각 20 mg씩 20일의 휴약 기간을 두고 이중 맹검으로 교차 투여하였다. 시험약 또는 대조약의 투여 후 24시간 동안 일정 간격으로 채혈하여 HPLC 방법으로 혈장 내 piroxicam 농도를 측정하였다. $AUC_{0-24}\;({\mu}g/mL)$는 piroxicam-$\beta$-cyclodextrin군에서 $56.1\pm4.9$, piroxicam군에서 $57.3\pm5.6$으로 통계적인 유의성이 없었으나, 투여 후 0.5시간에서의 혈중농도는 piroxicam-$\beta$-cyclodextrin군 $2.9\pm0.4\;{\mu}g/mL$, piroxicam군 $1.6\pm0.3\;{\mu}g/mL$으로 통계적인 유의성을 보였다(p<0.05). 또한 최고혈중농도는 piroxicam-$\beta$-cyclodextrin$(4.3\pm0.5\;{\mu} g/mL)\;piroxicam(3.5\pm0.3\l{\mu}g/mL)$,으로 유의성이 있었으며(p<0.05), 흡수 속도상수는 piroxicam-$\beta$-cyclodextrin$(3.00\pm0.49\;h^{-1}), \;piroxicam(1.80\pm0.21\;h^{-1})$이었다(p<0.1). 이상의 결과에서, piroxicam-$\beta$-cyclodextrin정은 piroxicam 확산정과 비교하여 흡수되는 정도는 서로 비슷하지만 흡수 초기의 혈장농도 및 흡수속도상수에서 보다 빠른 약동학적 특성을 나타내었다.

Measurement of Mucin Amounts Using RTO3 in Patients with Chronic Airway Disease (만성 기도질환에서 흰쥐 뮤신에 대한 단 세포군 항체(RTO3)를 이용한 뮤신 측정에 관한 연구)

  • Background: It has been anticipated that the amount and composition of mucin are changed in patients with chronic airway diseases. We evaluated whether RTO3(mAb against rat tracheal mucins) could quantify the amount of mucin from the airway in the patients with chronic airway diseases. Methods and results; 1) RTO3 was bound to high molecular weight of mucin based on Western blot in sputum and BALF from patients with chronic airway diseases. 2) The goblet cells and submucosal glands in main bronchus from human were observed by PAS stain. And immunohistochemical stain with RTO3 showed immunoreactivity on some goblet cells. 3) The amount of mucin was more increased in patients with chronic airway diseases compared to those in normal subjects. 4) In the exacerbation of asthmatics, mucin amounts were more increased than stable asthmatics. Conclusion: We suggested that secreted mucin in chronic airway diseases can be quantified by ELISA with RTO3.

Efficient RMESH Algorithms for Computing the Intersection and the Union of Two Visibility Polygons (두 가시성 다각형의 교집합과 합집합을 구하는 효율적인 RMESH 알고리즘)

  • We can consider the following problems for two given points p and q in a simple polygon P. (1) Compute the set of points of P which are visible from both p and q. (2) Compute the set of points of P which are visible from either p or q. They are corresponding to the problems which are to compute the intersection and the union of two visibility polygons. In this paper, we consider algorithms for solving these problems on a reconfigurable mesh(in short, RMESH). The algorithm in [1] can compute the intersection of two general polygons in constant time on an RMESH with size O($n^3$), where n is the total number of vertices of two polygons. In this paper, we construct the planar subdivision graph in constant time on an RMESH with size O($n^2$) using the properties of the visibility polygon for preprocessing. Then we present O($log^2n$) time algorithms for computing the union as well as the intersection of two visibility polygons, which improve the processor-time product from O($n^3$) to O($n^2log^2n$).

An Analysis of Daily Maximum Traffic Accident Using Generalized Extreme Value Distribution (일반화 극단치분포를 이용한 일 최대 교통사고 분석)

  • In order to cope with traffic accidents efficiently, the maximum number of traffic accidents, deaths and serious injuries that can occur during the day should be presented quantitatively. In order to examine the characteristics of traffic accidents in different regions, it was divided into the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong area, Gyeongbuk area, Honam area, and Gyeongnam area and was suitable for the generalized extreme value distribution (GEV). The parameters of the GEV distribution were estimated by the L-moments, and the Anderson-Darling test and the Cramer-von Mises test confirmed the suitability of the distribution. According to the analysis, the maximum number of traffic accidents that can occur once every 50 years is 401 in the Seoul metropolitan area, 168 in the South Gyeongsang region, 455 in the North Gyeongsang region, 136 in the Chungcheong region and 205 in the South Jeolla region. Compared to the Seoul metropolitan area, which has a large population and car registration, the number of traffic accidents is relatively high due to the large area, mountainous areas, and logistics movement caused by the industrial complex.

Test Methods for Evaluation of Slip-Resistance Force of Clamp for Plastic Greenhouse (플라스틱 온실 죔쇠의 미끄럼 저항력 평가를 위한 실험 방법)

  • The research discussed experimental results on slip resistance force of rafter-purlin connection of plastic greenhouse and suggested a test method for evaluating slip resistance performance of the connection. Slip resistance forces were measured by four kinds of constraint conditions for specimens, for example, fixing or rolling the end of specimen. According to tests, it is noticed that constraint condition is able to significantly affect the slip resistance force. From a post-hoc comparison result, slip resistance force of test under fixing ends condition was larger than those under the other three constraint conditions. But the slip resistance force results in the fixing ends condition had greater measure of dispersion and three times of standard deviation than those from other constraint conditions. Based on the results obtained, effect of constraint condition for specimen on the slip test should be studied to enhance reliability of evaluation test of the slip resistance performance.

Resistance of Dendrophoma obscurans to thiophanate-methyl and iprodione (딸기 겹무늬병균의 Thiophanate-methyl 및 Iprodione 제에 대한 저항성)

  • Sixty isolates of Dendrophoma obscurans isolated from 19 important strawberry growing areas of Korea were tested in vitro for resistance to thiophanate-methyl and iprodione. Naturally-occurring thiophanate-methyl-resistant isolates were about 43 percents of isolates tested, whereas iprodione-resistant isolates were 10 percents. All these resistant isolates except SU 1 and SU 2, which were highly resistant to thiophanate-methyl, showed a week level of resistance. Iprodione-resistant isolates were readily obtained in vitro, when mycelial disk of the fungus was incubated on PDA media containing iprodione at the concentrations of $1{\mu}g/ml\;and\;10{\mu}g/ml$, but no thiophanate-methyl-resistant isolate from the mycelia with or without UV irradiation. All these artificially-obtained iprodione-resistant isolates were showed a high degree of resistance. On the strawberry leaves, thiophanate-methyl and iprodione were no longer effective to all resistant isolates at the recommended concentration, and the protective value to highly resistant isolates was much less than that of weakly resistant isolates. Isolates resistant to thiophanate-methyl were also resistant to benomyl but iprodione-resistant isolates did not show cross-resistance to thiophanate-methyl, benomyl, captan and zineb. Captan controlled both thiophanate methyl-resistant and iprodione-resistant isolates as effectively as sensitive isolates.
