Alexithymia refers to a specific disturbance in psychic functioning characterized by difficulties in the capacity to verbalize affect and to elabolate fantasies. Although it was initially described in the context of psychosomatic illness, alexithymic charateristics may be observed in patients with a wide range of medical and psychiatric disorders. This study was designed to investigate alexithymic characteristics in the patients with alcoholism using Scored Archetypal 9 Test(SAT9) and Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20 Korea version(TAS-20K). Twenty patients with alcoholism and twenty-four normal controls completed these tests. The results were as follows. 1) Patient group with alcoholism were significantly more alexithymic than normal control group in both SAT9 and TAS-20K. 2) No significant difference in the alexithymic measures was found between genders of both group. 3) No significant correlation was found between alexithymic measures and age or education level in both group. 4) Measures between SAT9 and TAS-20K showed significant correlation in the patient group.

Although social work practice skills are one of the important components of social work practice, research on social work practice skills has been very scarce. It seems that the reason might be a lack of standardized instruments used to measure social work practice skills. The purpose of this study is to validate a Korean version of the Practice Skills Inventory(PSI) developed by O'Hare and colleagues. The PSI is the only instrument developed in the field of social work to measure the frequency of social work practice skills that social workers use. A total of 310 social workers working in medical or mental health field were participated in this study. A result of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the Korean version of the PSI is composed of 4 factors like its english version. The Korean version of the PSI was also reliable and valid. Implications for social work research, practice and education are provided.
To develop and test validity and reliability of Korean version of the Student Perception of Patient Safety Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes to assess applicability for nursing students. Survey data were collected from convenience sample of 425 fourth year nursing students who enrolled in four universities. Data were evaluated using item analysis, content validity, exploratory factor analysis, and Cronbach's alpha. The attitudes scale was eliminated since item-total correlations were less than .3, on the final Korean Version Scales. The attitudes subscale needs further refinement before implementation. The finding out this study demonstrate that the knowledge and skills scales showed satisfactory validity and reliability. It is useful to evaluate nursing students during educational preparation and in practice.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating effect of anger expression styles on the relationship between school stress and interpersonal problem in adolescent. A total 300 students of middle and high school located in Chungcheongbuk-do completed the questionnaires to assess school stress, anger expression styles, and interpersonal problem during September to October, 2015 and 261 data were used in this report. Using multiple and hierarchical regression analysis, the results indicated that school stress, anger-in and anger-out significantly contributed to interpersonal problem. The interaction effect of school stress and anger expression styles were not significant. But anger-out significantly moderated the impact of school stress on domineering/controlling of interpersonal problem. These findings suggest that the intervention for preventing and relieving interpersonal problem in adolescent should focus on reducing school stress and maladaptive anger expression. Limitations and futre directions were discussed.
The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of Stroke Impact Scale 3.0 (SIS 3.0). Here, the SIS 3.0 was completed by 154 stroke patients (mean = 62.7; standard deviation [SD] = 9.43). Construct validity was verified by analyzing the correlation between SIS 3.0 sub-domains, and convergent validity was investigated by analyzing the correlation between the Modified Barthel Index (MBI) and the Mini-Mental State Examination-Korean (K-MMSE) version. The characteristics of each item were analyzed by internal consistency and item discrimination based on the classical item theory. Construct and convergent validity were verified through this study. Although the item i included in the emotion domain showed low item discrimination, all but this item showed high discrimination. Internal consistency was also high in all sub-domains.
This study was aimed at investigating relationship between global health nursing competency and multicultural acceptance of nursing students. The subjects were 145 nursing students from a university, and data were collected from June 8 to 19, 2020. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and regression. The subjects' global health nursing competency was 2.81±1.11 points (four-point scale) and multicultural acceptance was 3.84±0.68 points (six-point scale). Global health nursing competency differed according to gender and degree of preparation as a global nurse, and multicultural acceptance differed according to gender, multicultural education experience, and degree of preparation as a global nurse. Global health nursing competency had a positive correlation with multicultural acceptance (r=.18, p=.027), and it was showed that multicultural acceptance affected global health nursing competency (B=.29, p=.027). To be prepared as a global nurse, it is necessary to enhance the global citizen insight about multicultural experiences.

The aim of this study was to develop a comprehensive home economics teaching-learning plan, following the stages of analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The focus was on the 2015 revised home economics curriculum, specifically the 'prevention of sexual violence,' to enhance students' digital literacy competencies. In the analysis stage, the necessity of developing digital literacy competencies was confirmed by analyzing the 2022 revised national curriculum. Extracting elements from the 2015 revised home economics curriculum and textbooks, a digital tool utilization plan was designed in the subsequent design stage, aligning with learning goals, content composition, and digital literacy competency for each class. The development stage involved creating teaching-learning materials and digital tools for six sessions, centered around the topic of 'prevention of sexual violence.' In the evaluation stage, six content experts assessed the teaching-learning plans using a 5-point Likert scale and open-ended questions. The validity evaluation confirmed the effectiveness of the teaching-learning plans in improving middle school students' digital literacy competencies. Based on feedback from the experts, the plans for the six sessions were revised, with an additional session added, resulting in a total of seven sessions. It is envisioned that the home economics teaching and learning plans developed in this study can be implemented in home economics classes to foster students' digital literacy capabilities.
Academic engagement has been known as a strong predictor of students' cognitive and affective outcomes in an educational context. Despite increasing interest and theoretical usefulness of this construct, a few researchers seem to be interested in the validation of instruments to measure academic engagement for Korean students. Thus, this study would like to introduce one of academic scales widely used, UWES-S(Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-Student) (Schaufeli et al., 2002a: 2002b) and to validate the UWES-S for Korean college students. To validate the Korean version of the UWES-S, 651 college students (285 for Field Trial, 366 for Main Study) were used. The procedure is as follows. First, we used an integrated adaptation procedure to produce a Korean version of the UWES-S. Second, EFA(exploratory factor analyses) was applied to explore the factor structure of the UWES-S on the field trial data. Third, the psychometric properties of the UWES-S items were examined by graded response model(GRM). Also CFA(confirmatory factor analysis) was used to examine its internal construct validity for the data from the main study. Finally, the external validity of the UWES-S was scrutinized with the related variables such as academic motivation and satisfaction. As a result, the Korean version of the UWES-S with 13 items was accepted that the four items were excluded from its original version. Second, the internal validity was supported that the 3 factor CFA model(vigor, dedication, absorption) fit the data well. Third, we supported the partial mediation model that academic engagement played as a mediating variable between academic motivation(internal/external) and academic satisfaction. Finally, the differences between a validation of UWES-S for Korean college and high school students, the necessity of construct equivalence testing, and direction for future research of scale validating were discussed.
The purpose of this study is to explore factors inducing dental hygiene student's activeness during clinical practice. A conceptual study was conducted for dental hygiene students who participated in the clinical practice for the first semester of 2019. The focus question was, 'What factors induced activeness during clinical practice?', a total of 33 statements were drawn by analyzing the responses. Results of multidimensional scale analysis and cluster analysis, there are six factors that induce activeness 'provide information on clinical practice', 'possibility to participate in clinical practice', 'possibility of adaptation', 'attitude of educator', 'patience of educator', and 'attitude toward trainees'. Among them, the most factor inducing activeness was the 'possibility to participate in practice'. The four items inducing activeness were 'provide a training manual', 'can be observed closely,' 'practice for a sufficient period', and 'the educator's attitude is kind'. The results of this study could be used as basic data to enhance the clinical practice effect of dental hygiene students.
