A Study on the Regional Learning Program in the lifelong Learning City - Based on an Empirical Case Study of the Geography Exploration Group in Guri, Gyeonggi Province - (평생학습도시의 지역학습 프로그램에 관한 연구 - 경기도 구리시의 지리 탐방대 활동을 중심으로 -)

  • With the advent of lifelong learning society, most of the cities in Korea have been promoting the construction of lifelong learning city. At this point, the purpose of this study is to configure regional learning programs and apply them to the actual world. Important results of this study can be outlined as follows; First, the regional learning programs in the lifelong learning society are desirable to be configurated with the situated learning method focused on the characteristics of learners, instructors and the local contexts. In addition, the active training of regional human resources such as organizing learning circles and SERVICE-LEARNING through the participation of them is effective as a teaching method. Secondly, the consequence through the field excursion calling itself 'the geography exploration group', organized by the researcher and involved with participants together provoked the paradigm shift on their region and the regional identity. Thirdly, the active participation of local experts including geography teachers should be needed for the popularization of geography education. Hence, if we continue to develop the local learning programs tailored to regional traits and apply them to the actual world, geography education will play an important role to build the stable foundation in the lifelong learning society.

Effect of Problem-based Learning by the Type of Learning in Nursing Students in a Single University (일 대학 간호학생들의 학습유형 별 문제중심학습의 효과)

  • This study was a one-group pre-post test design experimental investigation conducted to evaluate the effects of problem-based learning by type of learning in nursing students. The subjects of the study were 125 senior students in the Department of Nursing Science at a single university located in A. City, and the study was conducted for eight weeks from April 18 through June 10, 2016. Data analysis consisted of descriptive statistics, ANOVA, ${\chi}^2$-tests and t-tests. Most nursing students underwent converger type of learning, and after problem-based learning, their learning flow, problem-solving ability and critical thinking disposition increased significantly. In problem-based learning by type of learning, the problem-solving ability was significantly higher in the converger type than in the accommodator type, and there were no significant differences in learning flow and critical thinking disposition; however,in all types of learning, learning flow and critical thinking disposition increased. Since these results suggest that teaching and learning strategies should be set up for each type of learning, it is necessary to seek plans for teaching and learning strategies to make up for the weak points and strengthen the strong points by each type of learning when applying the problem-based learning method.

  • 좁은 취업의 문을 뚫기 위해서는 경력자만큼의 실무능력을 갖춘 인재양성이 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 제주 물산업 전문가 양성을 위한 에듀워터 프로젝트 교과과정을 제안한다. 에듀워터 교과과정은 비전문가인 학생들이 프로젝트를 진행하면서 자연스럽게 학습 목표에 도달할 수 있도록 진행 단계 및 각 단계별 요구 사항 등을 체계적으로 제시한다. 이 프로젝트식 교수-학습법을 적용한 교과과정을 통해 학생들은 실무현장에서 요구하는 물산업에 대한 전문지식, 문서 작성 능력, 발표 능력, 리더쉽 등을 종합적으로 향상시킬 수 있다.

  • 고도의 지식정보사회 속에서 논리적 사고력과 창의력, 문제해결력을 길러주는 프로그래밍 교육의 필요성은 더욱 강조되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 초등학생들에게 적합한 교육용 프로그래밍 언어인 JavaMAL을 활용하여, 프로그래밍의 함수개념 형성을 위한 학습모형을 구안 적용하고 일반화 가능성을 탐색하고자 하였다. 먼저 기초적인 프로그래밍 요소 중 함수개념과 관련된 학습요소를 추출하여 차시별 지도계획을 수립하였다. 또한, 프로그래밍의 함수가 수학적 함수의 모방이라는 것에 착안하여 수학의 '규칙성과 함수'지도 단계를 LOGO의 문제해결력 수업모형인 안내된 발견식 교수법(guided discovery teaching method)에 강화한 후, 인터넷을 활용한 문제해결 수업모형을 구안하였다. 기본명령어와 변수개념을 이미 익힌 계발활동 부서 6학년 아동들을 지도 대상으로 한 달간 웹 기반 JavaMAL 환경에서 학습할 수 있도록 하였으며, 게시판 활동 및 활동지를 통해 함수개념 형성 여부를 측정하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 공과대학 수업에 지각적 주의 환기 전략이 학습동기에 어떤 영향을 주는지 알아보기 위해 지각적 주의 환기 전략으로 스마트 기기를 활용한 수업을 진행하면서 학습동기에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 분석 방법으로는 Keller의 ARCS 이론에 근거하여 개발한 IMMS를 수업의 특성에 맞게 수정한 검사지를 검사도구로 사용하여 지각적 주의 환기 전략을 적용하기 전 사전과 적용한 사후 검사를 실시한 후 그 결과를 통해 학습동기를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 지각적 주의 환기 전략으로 스마트 기기를 활용한 교수법이 스마트 기기에 익숙한 대학생들에게도 사전, 사후 간의 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 그 하위범주 중 주의력에 크게 영향을 미친다는 것으로 나타났다.

Use of ChatGPT in college mathematics education (대학수학교육에서의 챗GPT 활용과 사례)

  • This study described the utilization of ChatGPT in teaching and students' learning processes for the course "Introductory Mathematics for Artificial Intelligence (Math4AI)" at 'S' University. We developed a customized ChatGPT and presented a learning model in which students supplement their knowledge of the topic at hand by utilizing this model. More specifically, first, students learn the concepts and questions of the course textbook by themselves. Then, for any question they are unsure of, students may submit any questions (keywords or open problem numbers from the textbook) to our own ChatGPT at https://math4ai.solgitmath.com/ to get help. Notably, we optimized ChatGPT and minimized inaccurate information by fully utilizing various types of data related to the subject, such as textbooks, labs, discussion records, and codes at http://matrix.skku.ac.kr/Math4AI-ChatGPT/. In this model, when students have questions while studying the textbook by themselves, they can ask mathematical concepts, keywords, theorems, examples, and problems in natural language through the ChatGPT interface. Our customized ChatGPT then provides the relevant terms, concepts, and sample answers based on previous students' discussions and/or samples of Python or R code that have been used in the discussion. Furthermore, by providing students with real-time, optimized advice based on their level, we can provide personalized education not only for the Math4AI course, but also for any other courses in college math education. The present study, which incorporates our ChatGPT model into the teaching and learning process in the course, shows promising applicability of AI technology to other college math courses (for instance, calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, engineering mathematics, and basic statistics) and in K-12 math education as well as the Lifespan Learning and Continuing Education.

A Study on the Evaluation Factors of Teaching Learning in the Planning of Cultural Contents by Using PBL (PBL 접목한 문화콘텐츠 기획의 교수학습 평가 요소 연구)

  • This study sought to explore the enhancement of the introduction of teaching and learning methods for Problem Based Learning (PBL) and the evaluation factors to evaluate them effectively through an understanding lecture in Cultural Content Planning. It was intended to incorporate a practical zero-volume education methodology of problem-oriented learning and sufficient leading learning to reflect storytelling in the entire process of completing a cultural content with culture, cultural content, and content planning. To this end, the role of teaching methods should be faithful to ensure that teamwork and cooperation can be done organically according to the educational field, practice and situation. Students who take classes were asked to meet demand, reflect it through surveys, apply real-world problems, and acquire the entire course. Learners had to cooperate with each other until planning cultural content and completing the results through classes, and they evaluated themselves and colleagues in teamwork until the last result was completed from creative ideas. The results were shared together and the students were able to investigate the necessary PBL evaluation factors for themselves, and the prior research and survey on the method of PBL evaluation was conducted to derive the factors of understanding of cultural content planning. The derived assessment elements were able to identify priorities between the assessment elements using basic statistics, word cloud analysis, and AHP analysis. The components of the assessment derived were communication skills, basic knowledge, reasoning process, expertise, and evaluation techniques. Through this article, I was able to lead the understanding of cultural content planning to problem-oriented learning classes and encourage students to be familiar and smooth.

Developing Sequential ConcepTests for In-service Science Teachers' Training based on Peer Instruction: Focus on 'Principle of Pinhole Camera' (동료 교수법 기반의 과학교사 연수를 위한 단계형 개념검사문항 개발 -바늘구멍 사진기의 원리 학습을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop sequential concept tests (ConcepTest) for teachers' conceptual change on the straight propagation of light through in-service training of science teachers by peer instruction. We revised the ConcepTests for attaining the goal concept by implementing similar training courses for teachers three times and analyzing the results using both Hake gain and verbal protocol. The final form helped most teachers to reach the goal concept. While teachers are solving a given concept problem test, they had shown not only significant cognitive conflict to select one among candidate answers, but also used the concept obtained through the previous problem. The sequential ConcepTests developed in this study can be useful for training elementary and secondary teachers or pre-service teacher education.

Exploring a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory of Linear Programming by the Didactical Analysis (선형계획법의 교수학적 분석을 통한 가설 학습 경로 탐색)

  • Linear programming(LP) is useful for finding the best way in a given condition for some list of requirements represented as linear equations. This study analysed LP in mathematics contexts and LP in school mathematics contexts, considered learning process of LP from an epistemological point of view, and explored a hypothetical learning trajectory of LP. The differences between mathematics contexts and school mathematics contexts are whether they considered that the convex polytope $\Omega$ is feasible/infeasible or bounded/unbounded or not, and whether they prove the theorem that the optimum is always attained at a vertex of the polyhedronor not. And there is a possibility that students could not understand what is maximum and minimum of a linear function when the domain of the function is limited. By considering these three aspects, we constructed hypothetical learning trajectory consisted of 4 steps. The first step is to see a given linear expression as linear function, the second step is to partition a given domain by straight lines, the third step is to construct the conception of y-intercept by relating lines and the range of k, and the forth step is to identify whether there exists the optimum in a given domain or not.
