  • The purpose of this study is to develop and make applications of the teaching materials that are based on the ARCS motivation model for experiments in chemistry. In order to achieve this goal, we researched on the needs of professors, learners, and teacher-assistants and analyzed the contents of the subject. Then we designed and developed teaching materials utilizing the ARCS theory, and made the applications and analyzed their effects. As a result, we found out that the applications of the newly developed teaching materials positively affected the understanding, interest, and concentration of the experiments, and helped the students comprehend various theories better through experiments. The new teaching materials shortened the duration of experiments and reduced the margin of error. They were also helpful preventing accidents and gave students clear ideas about experiments.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the trend of domestic studies related to science teaching-learning methods. We reviewed articles published according to year, method, subjects and topic. The methods reported commonly in science education books were extracted. Experiment, cooperative learning, and discussion were methods which had been researched widely. Experimental study of them was utilized most. And next content analysis, survey, and case study were utilized much. The most object of experimental study was middle school students. These reviewed papers showed effects which were related to science achievement, attitude, inquiry ability and self-efficacy. As a result of this study we should research to apply and develop science teaching-learning methods variously. We ought to enlarge research direction to analyze context which applies science teaching-learning methods to educational field by qualitative study. We should try to study effects of teaching-learning methods longitudinally and latitudinally.

  • The purpose of this research was to develop and analyze the effects of ICT based teaching learning process plans for 'Designing My Home' unit of Technology Home Economics subject in High School. The seven housing contents were selected from 8 textbooks and 8 teaching resources at the analyses stage. A specific homepage(ieduhome.cafe.com) was built to utilize the eight ICT teaching learning process plan as well as many other resources at the planning & development stages. The number of 68 highschool students have participated for the application stage during September 4-26, 2003 and the same number have studied the same contents through regular teaching learning plans as a comparison group. Experimental groups have significantly more increased in the knowledge and understanding of the housing contents than have comparison groups. The same results occurred in the interests in Home Economics, Housing, and Internet utilized study. The Design reports were not statistically differed between two groups based on the objective evaluation criteria. The results of this study generally supported previous research and showed that the In teaching learning plans were more effective in various aspects than were the regular plans.

  • Previous studies from domestic and abroad are accumulating information on how to reason students' continuous changes through teaching experiments. These studies deal with scenes in which students who make 'smooth reasoning' and 'chunky reasoning' construct mathematical results together in teaching experiments. However, in order to analyze their results in more detail, it is necessary to check what kind of results a student reasoning in a specific way constructs for the tasks of previous studies. According to the need for these studies, the researcher conducted a total of 14 teaching experiments on one first-year high school student who was found to make 'chunky reasoning'. In this study, it was possible to observe a scene in which a student who makes 'chunky reasoning' constructs an output similar to 'a mathematical result constructed by students with various reasoning methods(smooth reasnoning or chunky reasoning) in previous studies.' In particular, the student who participated in this study observed a consistent construction method of constructing the function of 'time-speed' from the function of 'time-distance'. The researcher expected that information on this student's distinctive construction methods would be helpful for subsequent studies.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and apply materials to teach about reflection of light by peer instruction. These which consist of both hands-on experiments and ConcepTests based on students' preconceptions found in previous researches are inducing active interaction between peers during instruction. Data from 29 university students were rate of correct answer of pre and post tests, results of conceptests before and after peer discussion, homework for strengthening their conceptual changes, and RTOP result for analysis of learners' perception about this method. Learners' preconceptions on reflection of light and position of image are changed effectively into scientific concepts. And they evaluate this teaching method helps conceptual understanding and interaction of an instructor and learners.

  • This study is based on the recognition that the school mathematics education should reinforce the heuristic and constructional aspects related with discoveries of mathematical rules and understanding of mathematical concepts from real world situations as well as the deductive and formal aspects emphasizing on mathematical contents precisely. The 11th grade students of one class from a city high school with average were chosen. They were given time to learn various functions of Excel in regular classes of "Information Society and Computer" subject. They don't have difficulty using cells, mathematical functions and statistical functions in spreadsheet. Experiment was performed for six weeks and there were two hours of classes in a week. Considering the results of this research, teaching materials using spreadsheets play an important role in helping students to experience probabilistic and statistical reasoning and construct mathematical thinking. This implies that teaching materials using spreadsheet provide students with an opportunity to interact with probabilistic and statistical situations by adopting engineering which can encourage students to observe and experience various aspects of real world in authentic situations.

  • Though web-based learning is known to be effective for computer aided practical class, it lacks in cooperative human feedback and self-adjustment. This paper presented the effects of blended learning that was based on web-based learning for learning by level and blended with peer tutoring for reducing the differentials of scholastic achievements between the students. For experimental purpose, high school students were divided into two groups and web-based EXCEL tutoring tool was developed and applied to both groups in advance. After this learning, we applied the web-based learning for comparative group as before and peer tutoring for experimental group respectively, Performance result evaluated by SPSS showed that the Blended Learning has affirmative effect in scholastic achievements. Especially, students under the medium level of experimental group could narrow the gap to the high level students in its group and this eventually improved the overall achievements of experimental group with blended learning.

  • This study analyzed class condition using gender-sensitive teaching strategies in technical college and investigated the effects of instruction using gender-sensitive teaching strategies on the students' satisfaction and self-direction. The results of the analysis of classroom condition using gender-sensitive teaching strategies are as follows. In the almost questions, average of experimental group is higher than that of control group. The results of the effects of instruction using gender-sensitive teaching strategies are as follows. Instruction using gender-sensitive teaching strategies didn't affected students' satisfaction in the experimental group, but affected students' satisfaction in B1 experimental group. Meanwhile, instruction using gender-sensitive teaching strategies affected the learning strategic component, subcomponent of self-direction, all students and the self-direction total score of male students in the experimental group. Especially, the instruction affected the self-direction of all students and male students in the B1 experimental group.
