  • The discovery method is known to be the most effective in improving students' mathematical thinking. Recently, the long-term slow thinking(LST) is suggested as a possible method to implement the discovery method into the real classroom. In this concept, we examined whether students can solve such a problem, as appears to be beyond their ability, by themselves(LST) or not. 10 middle school students of the ninth grade were selected for the study, who had no previous experience on the infinite concept of calculus of the high school course. They had tried to solve a problem about the calculus by their LST for three days. Two of students solved the problem by themselves and seven of students solved it with help of hints. This result shows that if students are given the opportunity of LST for rather difficult mathematical problem with appropriate guidance of a teacher, they might solve it by themselves. That is, LST could be a possible method for implementation of the discovery method.

  • This study approached EPL learning with deductive teaching and learning methods and inductive teaching and learning methods which are grammar teaching and learning methods. In the entry site, lectures provided for elementary school students in grades 5 to 6 were set as deductive learning courses. Based on this, inductive learning process was developed and each learning process was composed of 12 periods. After conducting the research, EPL utilization evaluation, learning satisfaction and immersion test were conducted between the two groups. It was difficult to obtain statistically meaningful results between the two groups. However, in the three tests, the mean value of groups using inductive teaching and learning methods was high. If we construct a long-term learning process and conduct research, we think that statistically meaningful results are produced between the two groups.

  • Our society is undergoing rapid changes due to COVID-19, and in particular, online learning using digital technology is being tried in various forms in the educational field. A change has occurred. However, the limitations of distance learning, such as reduced learning immersion in non-face-to-face educational situations, lack of interaction between teachers and learners, and lower basic academic ability, are constantly being raised, and an appropriate educational strategy is needed to solve these problems. This study focused on the concept of 'Metaverse' based on the interaction between the virtual world and the real world, and tried to verify the effectiveness of educational activities based on it. In detail, we propose an educational framework for realizing flipped learning in the Metaverse Virtual Classroom, and a frame developed by measuring the learning immersion of a single group with a teaching/learning program developed based on this. The effectiveness of the work was verified. When the metaverse platform-based flip learning framework and education program proposed in this study were applied, it was confirmed that learners' immersion in learning was improved.

  • Zoom has been most popularly used as a non-face-to-face online class tool since COVID19, but due to the recent spread of the metaverse, the use of the metaverse platform is increasing. In particular, since a metaverse platform 'Spatial' provides online classroom creation and various learning functions, and various interactions between instructors and learners or learners and learners are possible, it is highly likely to be used in university classes. Since Zoom and Spatial each have their own strengths and weaknesses for the purpose of class use, it is necessary to find out the strengths and weaknesses of each by comparing and analyzing the learner's experience in class use. In this study, a quantitative analysis of usability, immersion, and satisfaction and a qualitative analysis of individual opinions were performed in order to compare and analyze the learner's experience. SUS (System Usability Scale) was used for usability evaluation, and Magnitude Estimation method was used for immersion and satisfaction evaluation. Thirty-five people who had participated in classes using Zoom and Spatial participated as subjects in this study. Zoom was higher than Spatial at the significance level of 0.05 in usability and satisfaction. On the other hand, the immersion in class was higher in Spatial than in Zoom. Since Spatial provides online classroom creation and various learning functions, and provides various interactions and fun elements between instructors and learners or learners and learners, the immersion in classes was high. If the user interface and interaction of Spatial are improved in the future, it is judged that it can be used as an effective online teaching tool that can replace zoom in university classes.
