Wireless Bridge Health Monitoring System for Long-term Measurement of Small-sized Bridges (중소교량의 지리적 특성을 고려한 무선 전력 및 통신 기술 기반 교량 장기 계측시스템 구축 방안 연구)

  • A bridge health monitoring technology is under development for the safety management of aged bridges. The bridge health monitoring technology has been developed mainly for single bridge management at a large scale, so it uses wire-based systems for power supply and data transfer. However, the wire-based systems need to be improved for the sporadically distributed small-sized bridges on local roads. This study proposed a wireless structural health monitoring system for small-sized bridges. The proposed monitoring system overcomes the limitations of wired systems by providing wireless power through solar power and utilizing LTE technology to transmit measurement data. In addition, a remote control system and power management plan were proposed to ensure the stability of the bridge measurement system. The proposed measurement system was installed on 32 bridges on fields and verified the operability by collecting 80.6% of measurement data for one year. The proposed system can support the health monitoring of aged bridges on local roads.

  • 교량의 고성능화, 고효율화 및 센서기술의 발전에 따라서 최근의 장대교량의 경우 교량에 각종 센서를 부착하여 상태를 실시간으로 교량의 상태를 계측하는 시스템이 개발되어 사용되고 있다. 하지만, 기존의 센서와 데이터 로거를 이용한 계측시스템은 높은 설치비가 요구되며 센서 설치비의 50%이상이 통신케이블에 관련된 비용이다. 본 논문에서는 설치비용 절감과 저렴한 유지관리비용 및 센서의 추가 및 교체가 손쉬운 무선기반의 계측시스템 개발에 관하여 논하고자 한다. 교량의 부재에 부착되어있는 센서들 사이 근거리 무선통신은 ZigBee를 이용한 무선통신네트워크를 구성하였으며, 교량과 교량관리소 사이의 장거리 통신에는 국내 휴대전화에 사용되고 있는 CDMA 통신망을 이용하여 데이터를 전송하는 방식을 취하고 있다.

The Study for Establishing the Criteria of Measurement Items in the Monitoring System for the Steel-Box Girder Bridge by FEM Analysis (구조해석에 의한 강상자형교 상시계측시스템 계측항목별 관리기준치 설정 연구)

  • If any bridge has the monitoring system, the bridge manager can check the history of bridge behavior and the progress of the damage more exactly. When the unexpected event (ex: earthquake and flood) happens, the manager can check the safety condition of the bridge and make the pertinent action for bridge management which is reduction of vehicle speed or traffic control through the system. Additionary the manager can make the well-timed repair or reinforcement through the system, so he can save the management cost or the life cycle cost. This study presents the method of setting the criteria by FEM analysis in bridge monitoring system, and the standard progress for setting the criteria about measurement items of monitoring system for the steel box type bridge.

  • As structures' long term performances and users' safety have been highlighted, a new maintenance technique using IT has drawn attention around the globe. Therefore, throughout the paper, by analyzing bridge's static and dynamic data using wireless measuring sensor, a "real time smart bridge monitoring system" has developed. Smart bridge monitoring system is consists of three main parts a sensor that can measure major members' movement, a wireless system that informs the data from the sensor, and the database system that analysis the data. In order to test the performance of the system, five different were placed on the Olympic Bridge, Seoul. The power system of the sensors was replaced by self-sustain solar energy system. In order to validate data from the real time smart bridge monitoring system, the data was collected for a week from both wireless system and the wired system and the two data were compared to see the relevance.

  • The span deflection among the monitoring items of bridge measurement system in real time is representative behaviour and important index of superstructure condition. the limit of span deflection in Standard Specifications for Highway Bridge in Korea has been applied to the method that is making the management-criteria for span deflection in bridge measurement system. But the limit concern mainly serviceability of divers. So it is difficult to find the safety factor of the limit from the viewpoint of bridge safety. This study estimated the safety factor of the limit of span-deflection in Standard Specifications for Highway Bridge in Korea from the viewpoint of bridge safety by the indoor structural test.

  • This paper presents schematically the monitoring system installed in Yongjong Bridge, a self-anchored suspension bridge located in the expressway linking Seoul and Incheon International Airport. Automatic measurement of instrumented civil engineering structures is now widely applied for behavior monitoring during construction in field as well as long-term monitoring for lifetime assessment of bridge structures. A representative example of results that can be acquired through structural health monitoring system is presented by means of data measured during a few years after the opening of the bridge. In order to effectively measure the tension force for hangers that have relatively short length or high tension force, a static tension measurement device has been explored. Newly equipped railway system on the existing bridge results in change of dead load, consequently dynamic characteristics have also been changed. This result can be detected by the monitoring system during and after railway construction.

  • With the development of technology worldwide, bridges are becoming larger, and the number of old bridges is also rapidly increasing. Monitoring the structural health of large, aging bridges is essential to preventing large-scale accidents. In this study, the application of a LoRa low-power wide-area network (LPWAN)-based wireless measurement system was investigated, and a LoRa wireless measurement system was established in the cable-stayed bridge section of Cheonsa Bridge, located in Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, Korea. The applicability of the LoRa LPWAN-based wireless monitoring system to large marine bridges was reviewed by comparing the performance and economic feasibility with wire-based monitoring systems that were built and operated by establishing a measurement system for the pylons, cables, and reinforcing girders of the bridge.

  • 본 연구에서는 장대교량에서 케이블의 장력을 간편하게, 그리고 자동적으로 추정할 수 있는 저비용 무선장력계측시스템을 개발하였다. 개발된 시스템은 크게 비용이 저렴하고 설치 및 관리가 용이한 무선 기반 하드웨어와 케이블에서 계측된 가속도 데이터로부터 장력을 자동으로 추정하여 주는 내장 (Embedded) 자동화 소프트웨어로 구성된다. 저비용 무선 기반 하드웨어는 연산능력을 가진 무선계측유닛과, 계측 신호개선을 위한 신호처리보드, 그리고 상용 MEMS 가속도계로 구성되었으며, 내장 자동화 소프트웨어는 계측된 신호의 주파수 분석을 위한 FFT 모듈, 케이블의 푸리에 스펙트럼으로부터 고유진동수를 자동으로 추출하기 위한 자동 피크 추출(Peak-picking) 알고리즘 모듈, 그리고 추출된 고유진동수를 활용하여 케이블의 장력을 추정하는 진동법 모듈로 구성되었다. 개발된 시스템의 검증을 위하여, 사장교의 케이블 축소모델을 제작하고 케이블 모델에 다양한 장력과 새그를 주어 진동실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과, 개발된 시스템은 케이블 모델의 주파수응답스펙트럼으로부터 고유진동수를 정확하게 추정하였으며, 장력과 새그의 크기에 상관없이 매우 정확한 장력을 추정하였다.

  • Many civil and infrastructures continue to be used despite aging and the associated potential for damage accumulation. Therefore, the ability to monitor the health of these systems is becoming increasingly important. The purpose of this paper is to propose a real-time health monitoring system of cable-stayed bridge, based-on non-destructive measurement. And also this paper focuses on the safety assessment for bridge from health monitoring system to accomplish this safety assesment. Using the proposed health monitoring system, it helps bridge maintenance and reduces the economic cost of a life-cycle costs. Also it give important data to develop the design and analysis method for cable-stayed bridges.

  • 현재 고속도로 상의 노후 교량에 대하여는 재하시험을 통하여 정량적인 내하력 평가를 수행하고, 만족스러운 수준의 내하력이 확보되지 않은 경우에는 보수, 보강 또는 교체를 수행한다. 그러나 교통량이 많은 고속도로사의 교량에 대해서는 재하시험이 매우 어렵고, 센서 케이블 작업으로 인하여 작업성이 떨어지는 경우가 많다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점들을 개선하기 위하여 상시교통하중에 의한 교량 내하력 평가 시스템에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 내하력 평가 대상 교량에 대하여 상시진동계측을 수행하였으며, 계측된 데이터를 통하여 교량의 동특성을 추정하였다. 추정된 동특성을 바탕으로 초기 해석 모델을 Downhill Simplex 방법을 이용하여 개선하였으며, 개선된 교량 모델을 이용하여 재하시험을 시뮬레이션 함으로써, 처짐 보정 계수를 구하였다.
