This paper describes on our experience of developing the Database Connector as an interconnection method between multimedia database, and the streaming framework. It is possible to support diverse and mature multimedia database services such as retrieval and join operation during the streaming if an interconnection method is provided in between streaming system and multimedia databases. The currently available interconnection schemes, however have mainly used the file systems or the relational databases that are Implemented with separated form of meta data, which deafs with information of multimedia contents, and streaming data which deals with multimedia data itself. Consequently, existing interconnection mechanisms could not come up with many virtues of multimedia database services during the streaming operation. In order to resolve these drawbacks, we propose a novel scheme for an interconnection between streaming framework and multimedia database, called the Inter-Process Communication (IPC) based Database connector, under the assumption that two systems are located in a same host. We define four transaction primitives; Read, Write, Find, Play, as well as define the interface for transactions that are implemented based on the plug-in, which in consequence can extend to other multimedia databases that will come for some later years. Our simulation study show that performance of the proposed IPC based interconnection scheme is not much far behind compared with that of file systems.

In this paper, a database interface system with natural language dialogue is designed and implemented. The system is made up of language analysis, context processing, dialogue processing and DB processing unit. The method for classifying and processing an undefined word in language analysis is proposed. It reduces the dictionary size, which gives difficulties in DB Interface. And the current DB Interfaces dealt with an input utterance independently. But the system in this paper provides a user with the interface environment in which he or she can have a continuous conversation with the system and retrieve DB information. Thus in this paper, speech acts which include user's inattentions well as propositional contents are defined, and user action hierarchical model for library DB retrieval is constructed. And the system uses the defined knowledge to recognize-user's plan, effectively understanding and managing the ongoing dialogue. And the system is implemented in the domain of library database in order to prove the proposed methods in this paper.

This research deals with the problems encountered in designing systems for more efficient and effective information retrieval used in the proliferation of literature. This research was designed to develop and test 1) the partitioning a large bibliographic data base into quality oriented subsets (quality filtering), and 2) a system for effective and efficient information retrieval within subsets of data base (relevance). In order to accomplish this partitioning, the 'kernel' technique of graph theory was applied. In addition, a method of quality filtering utilizing the 'epidemic' theory and the 'obsolescence' of scientific literature was developed.

The railroad is one of the most popular means of transport. Howerver, railroad agencies are managing the railroad information and provide its service respectively. That is, because of managing the different information and its type, The user will not receive the correct and integrated information. In this study, We figure out the needs of passengers that they want in railroad service and seek an integrated service plan that railroad passengers can use the railroad information service at a time, at a glance and in one place. Also, we investigate the knowledge-base construction to provide a knowledge map service to railroad passengers.

현재까지 연구되고 있던 정보보호관련분야의 계량화방법을 좀 더 다른 방법으로 접근하여, 정보시스템 환경 하에서 보안 및 관리 운영 평가 지수에 계량화하여 1차 집단과 2차 집단간의 차이를 연구하였다. 정보화 관련항목에 대하여 빈도 분석을 적용함으로서 군별, 항목별 분류를 통한 항목 비례 가중치법을 산출하였다. 또한, 선지정 가중치법을 이용하여, 보호지수와 관리운용지수에 따른 상관관계를 조사하여 안전관리 지수를 계량화하였다.

실체뷰는 대량의 데이터웨어하우스에서 질의처리를 효과적으로 수행하기위한 대안으로서, 그 핵심은 각 데이터 원천에서의 데이터변화에 대응한 복합적인 뷰의 효과적인 관리 문제이다. 본 연구에서는 우선 실체뷰 관리에 관한 기존의 연구들을 일별함에 있어서 즉, 갱신의 주체문제, 갱신객체, 및 갱신시간 문제의 세가지 관점에서 본 연구의 위치를 결정한 다음, 대수적 접근법으로 복합뷰 갱신문제가 복잡해지는 원인을 규명하였다. 그 해법으로서 참조무결성을 활용한 복합 조인뷰의 갱신 알고리즘을 제안하면서, 여러 가지 참조무결성 제약조건과 트랜잭션과 관련된 자체갱신적 새로운 해법을 제시했다.

3차원 공간에서 항행기법을 이용한 사용자 인터페이스는 정보의 시각화를 통한 편리성과 연속적인 제어를 통한 자연스런 대화가 가능하다는 장점이 있다. 또한, 응용범위와 표현력의 증가, 사용자의 이해를 증진시킬수 있는 점등 잇점이 많다. 하지만 개념의 미확립. 구현상의 복잡성 등의 문제점으로 인해 아직까지는 개발이 부진한 상태에 있다. 본 논문에서는 이런 3차원 항행기법을 그룹웨어 응용프로그램이 요구하는 사용자관리, 도메인 관리 및 세션관리에 적용해 봄으로써 공간상에 시각정보를 나타내는 방법에 관한 구체적인 면을 설명한다.

본 연구는 공공기관이 소장한 이미지데이터 활용성을 높이기 위한 전문검색서비스 구현 시 필수적인 문서인식시스템의 고도화에 있으며, 주요한 연구방향은 공공기관이 소장하고 있는 데이터의 분석을 통해 이미지분석 기술 및 라이브러리를 개발하고 특화된 지식베이스를 구성하는 것이다. 또한, 향후 확장성을 고려하여 지식베이스를 지속적으로 관리할 수 있는 툴을 개발하는 것이다. 본 연구는 현재 지능형 인식 라이브러리를 결합한 프로토타입(prototype) 시스템 개발이 완료된 바, 방대한 국가기록원내 소장자료를 대상으로 다양한 성능평가를 위한 테스트베드 구축이 진행되고 있다.
