Developing a Scientific Creativity Test to Explore the Relationship between Elementary Students' Creative Process and Product - Focusing on Biology - (초등학생의 창의 과정과 산물의 관계를 탐색하기 위한 과학 창의성 검사 도구 개발 - 생명 영역을 중심으로 -)

  • This study aims to develop a scientific creativity test for exploring the relationship between elementary students' creative process and product. For this, the researcher reviewed the literatures of scientific creativity and developed the items based on the constructs of creative process and product. After a review conducted by nine science education specialists, a pilot test, and additional revision and supplementation of observation test, the test, consisting of two sets-"animals" and "plants"-was finally conducted on 105 fifth-grade students. The test results were analyzed by using statistical analysis software. WinSteps, SPSS, and AMOS. The main findings from this study are as follows. First, when it comes to scientific creativity, creative process consists of science knowledge, inquiry skills, and creative thinking skills (divergent, convergent, and associative thinking skills). Creative product in science is a new and scientifically useful idea realized in a certain form. Second, observation, which was selected as a representative inquiry skill in this research, should not be related to creative thinking skills. Third, among the rest of the items, usefulness had the lowest averages, as it was, perhaps, difficult to satisfy the teachers' criteria for the scientific validity and usefulness. Fourth, the Spearman correlation coefficients between the items of "animals" and "plants" to find out the parallel-form reliability were significant, except for the item of originality. Fifth, the test was satisfactory with regard to the three aspects of construct validity-convergent, discriminant, and nomological. This study concludes by discussing the usefulness of this test, which has the possibility of exploring the relationship between creative process and product and of playing a role as an authentic evaluation tool in school.

Recognition of the Nature of Science by Preservice Science Teachers on the Basis of the Atomic Model (원자모형에 기초한 예비과학교사들의 과학의 본성에 대한 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine preservice secondary science teachers' understanding of the nature of science, by using nature of science (NOS) questionnaire on the basis of atomic model, and compare this to pre-studies. 'Understanding of nature of scientific model,' 'Tentativeness of scientific knowledge,' 'Subjectivity in science,' 'Use of inference and imagination,' 'Myths of the scientific method,' and 'Comparison between science and art.' were examined. Preservice teachers showed great comprehension of the tentativeness of scientific knowledge (the orbital model) and the subjectivity in science (the different interpretation about the experiment of particle scattering), but displayed the lowest comprehension of the scientific method. For understanding of nature of scientific model (the atomic model) and the comparison between science (Bohr's atomic model) and art (Picasso's work), preservice teachers brought out a combination of ontological and constructivist perspective and showed the contradictory thought about imagination in science research. In the result of comparison to pre-studies using the NOS instruments contains general terms, represented high levels of agreement about the tentativeness of scientific knowledge by using concrete examples of 'atomic model'. When concrete scientists such as Thomson, Rutherford, Bohr were presented, respondents revealed more informed views about the scientists' research method.

과학화 전투훈련 신뢰성 제고를 위한 자료검증 방법

  • 부대기동 및 실사격을 적용한 군사훈련이 가장 사실적이며 현실감이 있지만, 부대기동에 따른 교통체증 유발과 실사격 훈련에 대한 민원 증가로 인하여 실기동에 의한 군사훈련을 실시하기에는 많은 어려움이 있다. 그러므로 실사격 훈련의 제한 및 통제형 선형훈련으로 인하여 현장감이 저하되고 학습효과가 상대적으로 떨어지게 되는 단점을 극복하기 위하여, 미국, 영국, 독일, 프랑스 등 군사선진국들은 실전적 훈련묘사 및 정밀 훈련분석이 가능한 과학화 전투훈련장을 구축하여 군사훈련의 성과를 높이고 있다. 국내에서도 육군 과학화 전투훈련장(KCTC) 구축사업이 현재 진행중에 있다. 과학화 전투훈련은 일반적으로 마일즈 장비와 시뮬레이션을 사용하여, 지휘/통제/통신 및 기동, 전투근무 지원에 이르는 군사훈련 전과정을 모의하며, 직/곡사화기 교전, 화학 및 지뢰지대 운용, 항공지원 등 전투과정을 재현함으로써 훈련에 참여하는 지휘관과 병사로 하여금 현장감 있는 전투훈련을 유도한다. 이러한 과학화 전투훈련이 실제 훈련과 동일한 훈련효과를 창출하기 위해서는, 신뢰성 있는 교전 피해평가가 필요하다. 예를 들어, 곡사화기에 의한 살상범위, 피해정도 등이 실무부대 전투결과들과 큰 차이가 발생하면 소기의 훈련목적을 달성할 수 없다. 본 고는 과학화 전투훈련장의 전투피해평가 자료체계에 대한 객관적이고 신뢰성 있는 자료검증방법을 제시하여, 향후 과학화 전투훈련의 신뢰성 제고에 기여하고자 한다.

  • This study makes an attempt to understand the changes in the National R&D policy by the comparative analysis in terms of R&D policy regime. We characterize the related issues on the National R&D policy, and analyze the direction of science and technology(S&T) policy using the method of scientometrics. The result shows that the policy regime can be categorized into three groups with respect to the R&D efficiency and the keywords; Regime 1: National S&T Innovation 5-year Plan(1999-2002) and National S&T Master plan of the previous adminstration(2003-2007), Regime 2: National S&T Master Plan(2002-2006) and National S&T Master Plan of the previous administration(2003-2007), Regime 3: National S&T Master Plan of the current administration (2008-present).

  • 보수성이 강한 나라 일본에서 21세기의 새로운 일본으로 태어나기 위한 성청 개편자업이 관심을 모으고 있다. 이번 성청 개편과정에서 과기청을 과학기술성으로 승격하자는 의견도 있었으나 문부성에 흡수되어 문부과학기술성으로 개편될 전망이다.
