수돗물 바이러스 논쟁 : 바이러스의 실재와 위험 인식의 구성

  • 1997년부터 2002년까지 수돗물의 바이러스 오염 여부에 관한 논쟁이 있었다. 서울대의 K 교수는 학회에서 수돗물을 분석한 결과 질병을 일으키는 바이러스가 검출되었다고 보고했고, 이 내용이 언론을 통해 보도되면서 수돗물의 안정성에 대한 논쟁이 일어났다. 이 논쟁은 바이러스 검출방법론의 신뢰성을 둘러싼 과학적 논쟁과 검출된 바이러스가 위험한지에 대한 위험논쟁이 함께 공존하며 진행되었다. 필자는 정책의 변화를 요구하는 과학적 사실을 둘러싼 논쟁을 분석하기 위해 과학전문가와 정부를 분석의 대상으로 삼고 있으며, 아래의 세 가지를 주장하고 있다. 첫째, 논쟁을 제기한 과학자(K 교수)와 정부(환경부, 서울시)가 바이러스의 확인부터, 승인, 정책 결정에 이르는 전 과정에서 검출방법론에 차이를 보이고 있으며, 이러한 방법의 차이는 민감성과 정확성을 추구하는 과학계와 법적기준을 위한 정량적 가치를 중시하는 정부의 특징이 반영된 것임을 주장한다. 둘째, 과학논쟁에서 K 교수팀이 PCR 방법을 통해 바이러스의 실재(reality)를 확인하면서 과학적 정당성을 확보했음을 보인다. 셋째 바이러스의 검출 방법에서 PCR 방법이 과학적 실재를 결정했지만, 위험의 실재를 규정하는 데에는 한계가 있었음을 지적한다. 마지막으로 본 논문은 논쟁분석을 통해 정책입안을 둘러싼 과학 위험논쟁에서 과학전문가의 역할을 고찰하고 있다.

The Trend and The Issues of Domestic Studies in Relation to Science Teaching-Learning Methods (과학 교수 학습 방법에 관한 국내 연구 동향 및 이슈)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the trend of domestic studies related to science teaching-learning methods. We reviewed articles published according to year, method, subjects and topic. The methods reported commonly in science education books were extracted. Experiment, cooperative learning, and discussion were methods which had been researched widely. Experimental study of them was utilized most. And next content analysis, survey, and case study were utilized much. The most object of experimental study was middle school students. These reviewed papers showed effects which were related to science achievement, attitude, inquiry ability and self-efficacy. As a result of this study we should research to apply and develop science teaching-learning methods variously. We ought to enlarge research direction to analyze context which applies science teaching-learning methods to educational field by qualitative study. We should try to study effects of teaching-learning methods longitudinally and latitudinally.

  • 21세기는 지식정보사회다. 지식정보화 사회에서 정보과학영재와 정보과학영재의 판별방법에 대한 연구는 꼭 필요함에도 불구하고 미미한 것이 현실이다. 영재와 정보과학영재에 대해서 여러 학자들의 의견을 바탕으로 정의하고, 수학, 과학 영재아의 판별사례를 살펴보고 이것을 바탕으로 정보과학 영재아의 영재판별을 위해 초등 컴퓨터교과의 단계 및 영역을 바탕으로 초등정보과학영재의 판별의 원칙, 절차, 검사방법을 에 대한 판별방법을 살펴보았다.

  • This study explores research methodologies of design and data science, and applies data science paradigm on design process. Design research methodologies would have benefits of productivity and efficiency by using data driven design methodology. From insights of former studies, a new methodology of data driven design is suggested that design problem is transformed to data set attributes, such as variables, values and data patterns. The fine dust information app design is conducted as a case study to prove this methodology.

과학기술정보-열대어를 이용한 새로운 폐수처리

  • 일본열대어연구소에 의하면 가정에서 배출되는 각종 폐수나 식품가공공장 등에서 방기되는 폐수를 열대어로 정화하여 다시 사용할 수 있도록 하는 새로운 폐수처리방법을 개발하였다고 한다. 이 방법은 지금까지 널기 사용되어온 물리적, 화학적인 폐수처리방법과는 달리 열대어를 중심으로한 일종의 동식물의 천적이용이란 점에서 매우 흥미로운 방법이라고 할 수 있다. 더우기 2차 공해의 염려도 없기 때문에 금후 활성오니법(박테리아가 혜우기물을 섭취함으로써 폐수를 정수로 전환케 하는 폐수처리법)등과 같은 다른 처리방법과 함께 일본 각지로 보급될 전망이라고 한다. 이에 본고에서는 열대어를 이용한 폐수처리방법에 관하여 소개하리고 한다.

  • This study addresses the plan and methods of teaching/learning ethical aspects of science in the secondary schools, which were developed by the authors based on their 3 year research on ethical aspects of science and its teaching/learning. The general teaching/learning plan is composed of the instructional objectives of teaching/learning ethical aspect of science, its teaching/learning method and strategies, curricular content, and assessment. The article also attempted to describe a few words of care to keep in mind when apply the model and methods in the science classrooms.

  • The purpose of this study were to explore teaching method for scientific inquiry including scientific argumentation to increase students' scientific literacy. For this study, the detailed guideline including assessment frame for students' argumentation was developed and applied to seventh and ninth grade students. From this application, data were collected from the students' views by pre, post questionnaire and the teachers who had taught to their students by questionnaire including students' attitudes change and applicability. From this study, the result were following. The change of students' perceptions was revealed by questionnaire and the teachers' description. And the applicability of this teaching method was indicated by the teachers' opinion. From these findings, the method was found as applicable teaching method to teach scientific inquiry including scientific argumentation in school science.

Development of an Inquiry Analysis Framework Based on the Features of Earth Science Inquiry Methodology and the Analysis of Inquiry Activities in the 8th Grade 'Earth History and Diastrophism' Unit (지구과학 탐구의 특징을 반영한 탐구 활동의 분석틀 개발 및 '지구의 역사와 지각 변동' 단원의 탐구 활동 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an inquiry analysis framework based on the features of earth science inquiry methodology and to analyze inquiry activities in the 8th grade 'Earth History and Diastrophism' unit by using this framework. The framework classified earth science methods as logical inference, hermeneutic, and historical methods, each of which was subdivided in consideration of its subordinate methods and characteristics. The analysis revealed that the logical inference method reflected in the unit as the 'abductive method' (70%) was used more frequently than the 'inductive' (23%) and 'deductive' (22%) methods. The hermeneutic method was found in terms of the 'forestructures of understanding' (92%), 'circular reasoning' (9%). and 'historical nature of human understanding' (17%). The historical method also used as the 'constructing proper taxonomy' (53%), 'adhering to the modem principle of uniformitarianism' (47%), and 'relic interpretation' (41%) were identified with ratios more fester than those for the 'place substituting for time in stage theorizing' (3%) and 'evaluating independent lines of inquiry for convergence' (3%).

Characteristics of Scientific Method for the 8th Grade Students‘ Inquiry Reports (8학년 학생들의 탐구 보고서에 나타난 과학방법의 특징)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate eighth graders' scientific method of inquiry used in their reports. We developed a framework, 'Analysis of Scientific Methods and Information Sources', with a perspective of the Nature of Science to analyze students' planning method, data analysis, and information sources. We then compared results with levels of questions to find out whether they affected students' 'Scientific Method'. In addition, we analyzed students' responses of the survey questionnaire, e.g.. how they liked Scientific Method. Results are as follows: First, 'planning method' consisted of 'consultant' and 'activities'. The 'activities' were 'experiment', 'correlational study', and 'observation' Students planned by utilizing 'consultant' more than the other. In case of planning 'activities'. most of them were 'experiment' Second, 'data analysis' consisted of 'summary', 'table', 'chart', 'graph' and so on. Students analyzed their data by using 'summary' frequently. The types of 'summary' were divided into 'simple summary' and 'relational statement' Third, 'information sources' consisted of 'computer', 'library'. and 'professional consultant' Most of the students gathered information from 'computer' Fourth, the types of 'planning method' and 'summary' were affected by the levels of questions. Fifth, some of the students reported their difficulty in 'planning method' because the collected information was less reliable, lacking, and having difficult technical terms.

  • The purpose of this study is explores the trend in Science of early childhood education. The subjects of analysis were the articles in the six journals registered with the Korean Research Foundation. The articles were analyzed by research type, data collection method, data analyzing method, research sample and research subject. As results of this study, the greatest number of research type was the quantitative research, the most frequently used data analyzing method was t-test(difference verification), samples were generally children and the largest number of study subjects were child development.
