  • We present the technique that automatically generates caricatures from input face images. We get the mean-shape of training images and extract input image's feature point using AAM(Active Appearance Model). From literature of caricature artists, we define exaggeration rules and apply our rules to input feature points, then we can get exaggerated feature points. To change our results into cartoon-like images, we apply some cartoon-stylizing method to input image and combine it with facial sketch. The input image is warped to exaggerated feature point for final results. Our method can automatically generate a caricature image while it minimizes user interaction.

  • The humanoid creatures like Na'Vi in 'Avatar' remind the audience of a few actors' faces in the movie, enhance realism in film through combining CG and Live action which are related to the story. The design of face-recognizable humanoid creature is expected to be used in many ways; not only in film, but also in newest media. This research proposes to apply the main concept of Caricature which is 'exaggeration' of distinctive face elements from their prototypes for 'likeness' with the subjects. Also, it provides the idea of extracting the distinctive features of a face and combining the exaggerated subject as those features with an imaginary creature-other species, alien, etc. Finally, it proves the effectiveness of the design process with some experiments.

  • This experiment was performed to obtain the basic information on heterosis and heterobeltiosis of quantitative characters in the eggplant by crossing of varieties. The heterosis and heterobeltiosis were estimated in Fl generation. The results were as follows, based on the graphical analysis, the characters, plant height, stem diameter, fruit weight, leaf length, leaf width, and fruit number per plant(yield) were assumed to inherit dominance, and fruit length and fruit diameter were found to inherit incomplete dominance. The degree of positive heterosis of plant height, stem diameter, fruit weight, fruit length, fruit diameter, leaf length, leaf width, and fruit diameter, leaf width, leaf length, fruit weight, and stem diameter showed negative heterobeltiosis.

  • In this paper, we propose an interactive system that generates emotional expressions from arm gestures. By extracting relevant features from key frames, we can infer emotions from arm gestures. The necessary factor for real-time animation is tremendous frame rates. Thus, we propose processing facial emotion expression with 3D application for minimizing animation time. And we propose a method for matching frames and actions. By matching image sequences of exagerrated arm gestures from participants, they feel that they are communicating directly with the portraits.

  • The external qualities of cherry tomato fruits(Lycopersicon esculentum) grown in circulating deep flow hydroponic culture were non - destructively estimated in 1992 under warm climate conditions and evaluated in 1993-1994 under cool season. The fruit size of ‘Minicarol’ was by far the smallest compared to ‘Chelseamini’ and ‘Popo’. There were high correlations between external qualities of fruits-lengthwise growth harmonized with widthwise growth. The volume and/or weight of fruit could be non -destructively estimated by length and width of fruit. Volume=0.071$\times$ (length+width)$^3$+0.451, Fresh weight=0.072$\times$ (length+width)$^3$+0.542. These models were accurately evaluated by fruits harvested in 1994.
