This study is to show the clinical effect of additional CP Pharmacopuncture on hypoesthesia of lower limb which was occurred by laminectomy. The patients were treated using CP Pharmacopuncture, and other treatments including acupunture, moxibustion and herbal medication. The effect of treatment was measured by Numeric Rating Scale(NRS) and American Spinal Injury Association(ASIA) scale. After treatment, NRS was gradully reduced and ASIA scale's score was incresed. These results suggest that CP Pharmacopuncture might be a possible therapeutic option for hypoesthesia of lower limb which was occurred by laminectomy.

Objective: This study examined the effectiveness of Pyung-Hyung acupuncture and herbal medicine for a hemiplegic patient diagnosed with intracerebral hemorrhage. Methods: The patient was treated with Pyung-Hyung acupuncture and herbal medicine for one month. Intracerebral hemorrhage symptoms were evaluated using the Korean version of the Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI), the Manual Muscle Test (MMT), and brain CT images. Results: Following Pyung-Hyung acupuncture and herbal medicine, K-MBI, MMT, and brain CT image results improved. Conclusion: This case showed that Pyung-Hyung acupuncture and herbal medicine effectively treated intracerebral hemorrhage with hemiplegia.

Objectives: This study investigated the effectiveness of acupuncture and herbal medicine (Gami-banhabakchulchunma-tang) for post-stroke visual impairment. Methods: A 79-year-old male with headache, dizziness, visual field defects, and blurred vision caused by a posterior cerebral infarction was treated with acupuncture and Gami-banhabakchulchunma-tang for three months. We used the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) for each symptom and measured the patient's eye-movement range. Results: Following treatment, the NRS score for headache decreased from 5 to 0, and for dizziness and blurred vision, it decreased from 5 to 1. The NRS score for visual field defects decreased from 5 to 2. The range of the patient's left and right eye movements both improved, and no adverse side effects were observed during the admission period. Conclusions: Korean medical treatment with acupuncture and herbal medicine (Gami-banhabakchulchunma-tang) could effectively treat post-stoke visual impairment.

Objectives: This study reports a case of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) in which the patient experienced improved limb weakness, facial paralysis, paresthesia, and systemic pain after Korean medicine treatment. Methods: A 25-year-old female patient diagnosed with GBS received the herbal medicine Banhasasim-tang Soft Ext., acupuncture, electroacupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, and rehabilitation treatment. To confirm the change in symptoms, the manual muscle test (MMT), Korean Version of Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI), Yanagihara grading system (Y-score) and Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) were performed. Results: After Korean medicine treatment, there was a significant improvement in GBS-related clinical symptoms. Conclusions: Korean medicine treatment could be effective in improving symptoms of limb weakness, facial paralysis, paresthesia, and systemic pain related to GBS. However, this study has limitations as a case report, and more studies are needed.

Objective : Scolopendra, a dried body of Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans, is one of Korean medicine. Several reports revealed that Scolopendra has therapeutic effects for arthritis, neuroinflammatory diseases and neuropathic pain. However, the fetal adaptive response or teratogenicity associated with administration of Scolopendra is unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the fetal toxicity effects that were induced following oral administration of Scolopendra water extract (SWE) in pregnant mice. Methods : The pregnant mice were administrated SWE at dosed of 0, 100, 500 and 1000 mg/kg/day during gestation day 0-18. The mortality, body weight and clinical signs of pregnant mice were observed throughout experimental period. Also, the mortality and malformations in foetus were examined. Results : No meaningful changes were observed in the mortality and clinical signs of pregnant mice between the normal control group and SWE administrated groups. Additionally, there are no significant changes in fetal mortalities, and malformations by SWE administration. conclusion : These results suggest that oral exposure to SWE during pregnancy at oral dosages up to 1000 mg/kg/day did not induce teratogenic toxicity in regard to fetal mortality and morphology.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess the effects of oriental medicine on secondary amenorrhea & hypomenorrhea objectively. Methods: By serum hormone assay and history interview, we classified the causes of each patient having secondary amenorrhea & hypomenorrhea. We also diagnosed and treated each patient according to them. And then we estimated the results of treatment by follow-up measurements of serum hormone level. Results: 1. We diagnosed case I as hypothalamic-pituitary disfunction, case II, III as PCOS and case IV as ovarian failure by classifying the causes from western medical scientific angle. 2. We also diagnosed and treated the cases from oriental medical scientific angle. 3. We confirmed the improvement of cases by follow-up measurements of serum hormone level. Conclusion: These results of serum hormone assay showed how medically effective oriental medical therapies of secondary amenorrhea & hypomenorrhea were.

Dyslipidemia is a major risk factor for cardiovascular accidents (CVA) and heart disease, especially the ischemic type. Lowering of serum low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels is a primary measure for preventing atherosclerosis. Many medications are available for the treatment of dyslipidemia; however, these drugs have some side effects. Therefore, we treated dyslipidemia patients with Chunghyul-plus. Before treatment, patients' levels of total cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and LDL-C were measured on an empty stomach. Thereafter, patients were administered 1000 mg (2 capsules) of Chunghyul-plus two or three times a day for 2 weeks. After treatment with Chunghyul-plus, patients' serum triglyceride, LDL-C, and total cholesterol levels decreased. The results of this study suggest that Chunghyul-plus might be useful in the treatment of dyslipidemia.

■ Objectives The purpose of this case study is to report that a tremor patient after Acute Cerebral infarction was treated with 'Dodamhwalhul-tang' and then the symptoms were improved. ■ Methods This patient was 81 years old woman whowas diagnosed with acute cerebral infarction. This patient had hypertension and symptoms of tremor on left lower limb, both side weakness, both lower limb numbness, dizziness and low back pain. She was treated with herb medicines, acupuncture, moxibustion during 22 days of hospitalization. Her tremor was evaluated by the tremor frequency and period and other general conditions were measured. ■ Results After taking Dodamhwalhul-tang, symtoms of tremor and patient's general conditions were improved. ■ Conclusion The result shows that Dodamhwalhul-tang is effective for tremor with acute cerebral infarction.

This report is about a case of monocular partial oculomotor nerve palsy in a patient with midbrain hemorrhage. The patient developed diplopia while driving. The Brain MRI film demonstrated a hemorrhage in the right midbrain and left corona radiata and microbleedings in both cerebral and cerebellar hemispheres, basal ganglia, midbrain, pons. We used Korean medicine treatment modalities including acupuncture, electroacupuncture, pharmacoacupuncture and herb medicines. As a result, limitation of upward gaze was recovered to about 90% of normal range.

Drug eruption is a relatively commin dermatological disorder and may cause significant problems. The treatment is to stop using a drug that may cuase a drug eruption. In some cases, steroids and antihistamines can be used supportively. According to some reports, Onchungeum(溫淸飮) has steroid-like effects and antihistaminic effects. We administered Onchungeum(溫淸飮) a patient with severe itching because of a drug eruption. After administration of Onchungeum(溫淸飮), itching decreased to much degrees. It can be suggested that Onchungeum(溫淸飮) can be used to treat symptoms of allergic skin disease like a drug eruption.
