Since the 1990s, the handmade shoes industrial agglomeration district has formed in the city center, Hyangchon-dong, Jung-gu in Daegu. This paper aims to examine the formation process, to analyze the viability, and to propose policy implications of manufacturing industrial districts in a city center through studying this industrial district. The district's creation began as the result of the dissolution of local production and marketing system of handmade shoes in the 1980s, the excellent accessibility of the location and an inexpensive rent. The district's core viability lies in the external economies derived from local networks through social divisions of labor of production and marketing systems. Because of the lack of organizers of the social division of labor and 'integrated production system done by single business', the effect of external economies created by the social division of labor is limited. To get over this limitation, the district should to be restructured into a 'cultural street of leather crafts' as a part of 'making modern historical and cultural belt' programs within Daegu downtown regeneration policies. To support the restructuring, public assistant measures such as the establishment of a corporate services center should be strengthened.

In this paper, the transmission and the phases of the memories in the novels dealing with Vietnam War have been studied. As a research method, Aleida Assmann's memory theory which plays a role in culturoloy theory is utilized. This study shows firstly that the others' voices excluded from the official memories of Vietnam War have emerged. Vietnam War novels released after 1990s actively reflecting the others' voices transmitted fresh the cultural memories. As the stories of civilian massacre, defoliant victims, and children of mixed bloods, Lai Daihan excluded from the official memories have emerged as a main them in the Vietnam War novels, they have become resistant memories. Existence and Formality, a Vietnam War novel by Bang Hyeonsuk brings up how to remember Vietnam War. His another novel, Time to Eat Lobster shows that without the fundamental retrospect and introspection of Vietnam War, Korea can't help but have the identity of America. Secondly, this paper shows that the tragedy of Vietnam War remains as a trauma that human bodies remember. White War by Ahn Jeonghyo shows that the memory moves back to the past in the process of struggle. In the novel, Slow Bullet by Lee Daehwan the phases of demage from defoliants lead to the family's tragedy. The Red Ao Dai by O Hyeonmi shows how a Korean-Vietnamese overcomes negation of his father and win his identity. In A Sad Song in Saigon shows that a mixed blood, Sairang who suffered from the confusion of his identity and his story fell down to a romance novel because of the weakness of narrative.

The development of social media in the 2000s led the unspecified individuals to band together for common interests. Social networking services served as a far-reaching tool for sharing different thoughts and interpretation of the pop culture and helped people build up close relations driven by their common interests for certain works of the pop culture. This Study introduces the TV Series as a case that displays specific patterns of communication between its producer and viewers. Producer Bryan Fuller of the Series as well as key production staffs were quite active on social networking sites with the understanding of what the audience desired and the willingness to sympathize with them, which were eagerly welcomed by the dedicated audience whose number, though, was not big. For the Hannibal production team, SNS was a means for them to just be consumers who appreciate the work instead of solely being the content provider. Their approach is quite different from unilateral marketing approaches employed in the past. Through this case, the Study aims to suggest that social networking sites serve as a powerful medium connecting producers and viewers or as an information hub, and that how interactive contents shall be delivered in the new media environment to be effective.

Antique maps are a cultural heritage of recorded information with distinguished pictorial and scientific value. They have been utilized in a variety of academic fields, especially in historical geography, as the most fundamental data to look into the restoration of space or historic changes of area from the past. However, there is no sufficient study on the development of contents using antique maps in the exhibitions. Furthermore, there is almost no content research on the antique maps integrating the academic programs in museums or art galleries. In particular, it is very difficult to find research on the approaches to configure or utilize the exhibition contents related to the Sea of Korea using European antique maps. This study examined the construction of educational contents in order to use the European antique maps including the Sea of Korea as well as Korea itself in the exhibitions. The results of this study may visualize the results of academic research on the territory and territorial waters of Korea and extensively acknowledge them as scientific data all over the world. Furthermore, this study aimed to create the opportunity to increase interest in the Sea of Korea and recognize it again, to find the contents construction to use European antique maps as academic data for exhibition and education in museums or cultural facilities and to provide a basic model for history education using antique maps.

The concept of 'Picturing' is beyond the 'Illusion' of traditional art in the Digital Media era. It is a 'Suffering' of the 'Re-appearance' that is masquerade the 'Actual' as a 'Digital Apparition.' This study aims to concern the point of view on the above subject; the 'Picturing' through the analysis of communication problems in the digital era. To begin with, need to define the concept of 'Picturing' and how it is expected to have a role through the accessibility of medium use, intervention by body and images. Also, I suggest a new approach to 'Picturing' as a new mutual communication method. Body, Digital media, and Image. These three principles of 'Picturing' create huge benefits to our world/nature whether we want it or not. It seems to become more and more of powerful self-replicating organism. We have to be aware what sort of images are surrounding us and how transmitting it to where in/on our body via newest sophisticated media we use. 'Picturing' is an invasion of ordinary, no longer exists pleasure for body, no longer speaks intension of its next destination. It strongly self-grows and also controls us in the name of Digital media era. However, 'Picturing' is a mode of re-imaging activity and also suggestion of re-appearance practice.

Korea has risen to one of the most newly industrialized countries boasting its consecutive successful economic growth. The economic growth brought the Korean people more money and free time. Koreans all want to spend more time on leisure activities and travels. In this "mass Tour Age", because of its diverse functions and excellent facilities, resort condominium has been got much more attention. Instead of analyzing whole condominium operations, we put more emphasis on the room reservation system for the efficiency of operation. The purpose of this study is to identify the problems of current condominium operations and to suggest innovative new solutions. To accomplish the purpose, we analyzed the current room reservation system of condominiums in Korea. After reviewing the current reservation system, we provide a couple of suggestions. In order to improve reservation process, future demands should be forecasted as accurately as possible, or be based on everything from sophisticated technological system. I wish this study can help innovate the current reservation problems of the resort condominium industry for continuous improvements of the industry.

Emotion science is one of the rapidly expanding engineering/scientific disciplines which has a major impact on human society. Such growing interests in emotion science and engineering owe the recent trend that various academic fields are being merged. In this paper we review the recent techniques in the measuring the emotion related elements and applications which include animal model system to investigate the neural network and behaviour, artificial nose/neuronal chip for in-depth understanding of sensing the outer stimuli, metabolic controlling using emotional stimulant such as sounds. In particular, microfabrication techniques made it possible to construct nano/micron scale sensing parts/chips to accommodate the olfactory cells and neuron cells and gave us a new opportunities to investigate the emotion precisely. Recent developments in the measurement techniques will be able to help combine the social sciences and natural sciences, and consequently expand the scope of studies.

The purpose of this study is to explore how North Korean woman defectors' memories of their past lives are represented in Korean television talk show, (Channel A, 2011~) and its social implications. In order to carry out this task, this study first discusses the emergence of the concept of 'memory' in its relations with 'collective memory', 'cultural memory' and 'history', and its social appropriation in media such as television. And, the ideological aspects of the recent trend of television talk show that deals with people's private memories were also discussed. The study used the method of structural narrative analysis. The findings are the following. First of all, North Korean woman defectors' memories in collide with the dominant public memories in South Korea. In any case, it has been found that the show tended to make North Korea and their defectors as exotic 'others' and thereby reinforce the existing public memory. After all, this study argues that the representation of the defectors' memories in the talk show only results in stressing the melodramatic narrative emotionally packaged with 'laughing' and 'crying' without any sincere consideration of them.

This study was intended to provide management directions through the provision of tree spatial information as basic data for the preservation of Gyerim(legal historical site), which is located in Gyeongju city, Gyeonsangnam-do, Korea. As a result of the survey of the entire forest, there are a total of 25 species and 510 individuals growing trees. Of these species, 14 species are native and 14 are introduced species. Apart from Sophora japonica, Zelkova serrata, Celtis sinensis, most of the introduced species were adopted without historical basis after designation as a historical site. By a ratio of 36% to introduced species(including 3% of naturalized species; Ailanthus altissima), the historical heritage was significantly damaged. Gyerim, which has over 2,000 years of history, has a total 15 individuals(2.9%) large trees(over 100cm DBH). Ten of these are Salix glandulosa, and in the past, most of this area was considered a Salix glandulosa forest. Currently, however, there are many small trees(under 20cm DBH) for the next generation of growth and the Salix glandulosa forest will continue to decline. Furthermore, most small trees were afforested, so the historicity and place features as a mythological forest will quickly fade.

This study was carried out to research the locations and comprehensive functions of Chinese unique Banwoldang(half-moon shaped pond) appeared at the traditional Chinese villages. Based on the research, the time of Banwoldang being introduced into Chinese traditional culture could date back to Yuan Dynasty and villages that have Banwoldang mainly distributed in the south of the Yangtze River of China where wealthy and high class have lived. Bamwoldangs were mostly built at the front of the village clan halls for the prosperity of the whole clan, The main reason of Banwoldang construction was to complete Feng Shui functions and its goal from the point of Feng Shui in Chinese ancient villages was replenishing the power of location, including increasing the probability of passing the imperial examination for villagers, multiplying riches, minimizing the fire accident and perfecting the geomantic pattern 'leaning against the hill and facing the water(背山臨水)' of villages. Other functions of Banwoldang were found as the place for the community meeting, fish farming and protection of village from enemy. In this research, the reasons of Banwoldang location and values of its various functions were found. But Banwoldang is disappearing rapidly at the Chinese modern villages because there is no interest in traditional culture. Banwoldang is one of unique elements of Chinese culture that must be preserved, so its meaning and value should be lasted well as the Chinese traditional cultures.
