Synthesis of Functional Copolyester, its Blend with PET, and Properties of Carbon Black Dry Color (기능성 폴리에스테르 공중합체의 합성, PET와의 블렌드 및 카본 블랙 Dry Color의 물성)

  • Aromatic and aliphatic copolyesters for the dispersing agent were synthesized by two stage reaction, esterification and polycondensation. Copolyesters were blended with PET in the melt state and their thermal and rheological properties were investigated. From GPC analysis Mn's and Mw's of copolyesters were about 30000 and 65000g/mol, respectively. From DSC experiment copolyesters had melting range of $90{\sim}150^{\circ}C$. Copolymer composition was in good agreement with comonomer feed ratio from $^1H$-NMR analysis. Copolyesters and SPA (standard sample) were blended with PET in the melt state. From DSC experiment, copolyesters and SPA were miscible with PET. From the dynamic melt viscosity experiment, melt viscosity of blended sample was increased as the content of aromatic copolyester was increased, while it was decreased as the content of aliphatic and SPA were increased. As for volume resistivity of dry color containing carbon black and copolyesters with dispersing time, aromatic copolyester showed highest value. It was conferred from this result that aromatic copolyester was the best dispersing agent for carbon black in PET resin.

  • 고분자 전해질막으로 사용할 수 있는 소수성/친수성 랜덤 멀티블럭 공중합체를 합성하였다. 공중합체는 수산화기를 각 말단에 가지고 있는 소수성 올리고머, 친수성 올리고머 및 반응성이 좋은 커플링 단량체로 친핵성 치환 반응을 활용하여 합성 하였다. 높은 반응성의 커플링 단량체의 존재로 비교적 낮은 온도에서 합성이 됨으로서 고온에서의 에테르-에테르 교환반응에 의한 랜덤화를 억제할 수 있었으며, 높은 중합도의 공중합체를 합성 할 수 있었다. 각 수산화기로 같은 말단으로 조정된 올리고머는 투입 비율의 조정으로 쉽게 이온교환용량을 조정할 수 있었다. 솔루션 캐스팅 방법으로 강도를 가지고 잘 휘어지며 투명한 전해질막을 제조할 수 있었다. 전해질막은 이온전도도, 물흡수율, 부피 변화율, 연료 투과성 등의 측정이 되었다.

Relaxation phenomena of electro-optic coefficient in P(VDF-TrFE) copolymers (강유전성 고분자인 P(VDF-TrFE)공중합체의 전기광학계수의 완화현상)

  • Relaxation phenomena of the electro-optic coefficient in ferroelectric copolymer P (VDF- TrFE) were studied. The electro-optic coefficient of copolymers was measured by simple reflection method and the decay curves were fitted by KWW stretched exponentials. The copolymers poled near Tc. Were shown to be more stable than the copolymer poled at lower temperatures. Further, the relaxation time t depending on temperature was found to follow Arrhenius behavior and it was found that the activation energy of 50/50 mol% P (VDF-TrFE) copolymer is larger than that of 72/28 mol% copolymer. As a result, the ferroelectric copolymer with VDF of 50 mol% is was more stable.stable.

  • 나노 구조 제작을 위한 다양한 시도 중 블록 공중합체를 이용한 방법은 현재 활발한 연구가 진행되고 있는 분야이다. 본 연구에서는 비휘발성 메모리 소자의 용량 증가를 위하여 블록 공중합체 박막을 나노 마스크로 이용하고, 평행판헝 반응관 내에서 반응성 이온 에칭을 사용하여 나노 구조의 표면을 제작하였다. 에칭동안에 나노 마스크로서 사용할 블록 공중합체 박막은 PS-b-PMMA를 이용하여 제작하였고, UV를 주사하여 PMMA를 제거하고 수직적인 나노 흩을 구성하여 나노 패터닝이 가능하도록 하였다. 실험을 통하여 매우 균일한 나노 바늘 형태의 구조를 생성할 수 있으며, 반응기체와 유량의 조절을 통하여 다양한 표면 구조를 확인할 수 있었다. 블록 공중합체는 나노 마스크로서 뛰어난 기능을 나타내며, 이를 이용하여 나노 사이즈의 패터닝이 가능하고, 표면적 증가를 통하여 비휘발성 메모리 소자의 용량 증가에 기여할 수 있다.

  • We synthesized low molecular-weight polymers bearing hydrophobic and hydrophilic parts in a chain through $CO_2$/propylene oxide copolymerization. When hydrophilic poly (ethylene glycol) bearing -OH group (s) at the end group (s) was added as a chain transfer agent in the $CO_2$/propylene oxide copolymerization catalyzed by a highly active catalyst, block polymers were formed. If poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) bearing -OH group only at an end was fed, PEG-block-PPC diblock copolymer was obtained. When PEG bearing -OH group at both ends was fed, PPC-block-PEG-block-PPC triblock copolymer was obtained. We confirmed formation of block copolymers by $^1H$-NMR spectroscopy and GPC studies.

  • Linear and branched copolymers consisting of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and $Poly({\varepsilon}-caprolactone)$ (PCL) were prepared to compare the characterization of star-shaped copolymers with various molecular architecture. Linear and branched PEG-PCL (1-arm, 2-arm, 4-arm, and 8-arm) copolymers were synthesized by the ring-opening polymerization of ${\varepsilon}-caprolactone$ in the presence of HCl $Et_2O$ as a monomer activator at room temperature. The synthesized copolymers were characterized with $^1H-NMR$, GPC, DSC, and XRD. As a result of the DSC and XRD, each copolymers showed different thermal properties and crystallinity according to the number of ms. The micellar characterization of linear and branched copolymers in an aqueous phase was carried out by using NMR, dynamic light scattering, AM, and fluorescence techniques. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) and diameters of micelles depended on the number of arms. Most micelles exhibited a spherical shape in AFM. In this study, we characterized star-shaped PEG-PCL copolymers and investigated their molecular architecture effect on the various properties. Furthermore, we confirmed that the micelles termed with linear and branched PEG-PCL copolymers have possibility as a potential hydrophobic drug delivery vehicle.

Copolymerization and Characteristics of Styrene and Fluorine-Containing Acrylate (스티렌과 불소함유 아크릴레이트의 공중합 및 공중합체의 특성)

  • The free radical bulk copolymerizations of perfluoroalkylethyl acrylate(FA) containing perfluoro group ($CF_3(CF_2)_nCH_2CH_2$-; n=5, 7, 9, 11) with styrene were conducted at $60^{\circ}C$ using AIBN as an initiator. Reactivity ratios($r_1$, $r_2$) were determined from monomer feed compositions and the NMR spectroscopically measured copolymer compositions using Kelen-Tudos method. The structures of copolymers were characterized with FT-IR and $^1H-NMR$ analysis. Their thermal properties investigated with DSC and TGA were decreased with increasing the content of fluorinated acrylate in the copolymer. Their surface free energies were calculated with measuring contact angles of the copolymers and PMMA blends with a small amount of them.

Study on the Randomness of Poly(ethylene naphthalate)/poly($\varepsilon$-caprolactone) Copolymer by Melt Blending (Poly(ethylene naphthalate)/Poly($\varepsilon$-caprolactone) 용융 블렌딩에 의하여 발현된 공중합체의 Randomness에 관한 연구)

  • It is generally agreed that transesterification provides the, copolymer in the melt blending of poly(ethylene naphthalate) (PEN) and poly($\varepsilon$-caprolactone) (PCL). Effects of the conditions of transesterification reaction and catalyst on the degree of randomness and average sequence length of PEN/PCL blends were investigated and results were used to interpret the biodegradability of PEN/PCL blends. It was found that degree of randomness values of obtained copolymer lied between 0 and 1, and it indicated that this blend consisted with physical blends of PEN/PCL and PEN/PCL block copolymers. The degree of randomness reached almost 1 which is the theoretical value of random copolymers and the average sequence length became shorter by the further transesterification reaction. In additions, it was found that the increase of copolymers, especially random copolymers reduced the biodegradability in PEN/PCL blends.

  • Linear and star-shaped, poly(lactic acid) (PLA) stereo-block copolymers were synthesized by sequential polymerization of DL-lactic acid and L-lactide in the presence of diol or polyol compounds. The molecular weight of block copolymers could be controlled to some extent by the variation of alcohol content. These block copolymers had relatively narrow molecular weight distributions. The glass transition temperature and melting temperature of block copolymers appeared at around 5$0^{\circ}C$ and 100~14$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. The block copolymers were found to crystallize even at the high D-stereoisomer concentration of 35 mol%, in contrast to the amorphous nature of the random copolymer with similar composition. Also we could observe the crystallinity of PLA stereo-block copolymers varying with annealing temperature and time.

  • The effects of surfactants, organic solvents, and functional monomers on the emulsion polymerization of perfluoroalkyleoylacryaltes and n-alkylacrylates were investigated. In particular, the dependence of the surface properties, contact angle and water repellency on the crystal melting temperature (T$\_$m/) of the fluorocopolymer and the variation of polymer latex particle sizes was investigated. Using WAXD experiments and synthesizing different types of fluorocopolymers which have fallowing fluoroacrylaytes [CH$_2$=CHCO$_2$CH,$_2$(CF$_2$CF$_2$) nH] (n = 4, 5 or 6), the relationship between the molecular packing structure of pendent side groups of fluorocopolymers and the surface properties was also investigated. We observed that the structure of primary carbon atoms of pendent side groups of fluorocopolymers plays key role in determining the surface properties.s.
