  • The Green New Deal policy was established to innovate the government's energy consumption structure, establish a third basic energy plan to strengthen the global competitiveness of the energy industry, and realize a carbon neutral society due to the increased need for transition to a low-carbon economy. Waterworks such as drinking water, water purification plant, and pressurization plant analyze control factors and energy consumption status by process to improve energy management efficiency and reduce energy usage through the 4th industrial revolution. Ultimately, we want to realize net-zero water purification plant.

  • Load testing is an effective means in calculating the rating value of bridge. In Korea, load carrying capacity of bridge is modified by response modification factor that is determined from comparisons of measured values and analysis results. This paper presents the development of a method for determining the response modification factor, using traffic load. The proposed method is based on the results of computer simulations of traffic action effects. A comparison between the proposed method and the present method shows good agreement in estimating the modified load carrying capacity of bridges.

  • Gathering information and systemization of infrastructure disaster management is to reduce uncertainties in making decisions and maximize the number of alternations for reasonable decision making. The key object is the progress report & propagation automation system based on sensors, which is major for providing objective data to realize and support decision makings and delivering decision to a certain area, department, manager and other people rapidly. Collecting, reviewing and database of existing progress report & propagation manual in order to achieve networking of safety management on major social infrastructure of the nation, materialization of field-oriented intelligent business process by developing mobile safety management command transmission device and integrating it into facility safety management network.

Damage Detecion of CFRP-Laminated Concrete based on a Continuous Self-Sensing Technology (셀프센싱 상시계측 기반 CFRP보강 콘크리트 구조물의 손상검색)

  • This paper reports a novel structural health monitoring (SHM) technique for detecting de-bonding between a concrete beam and CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) sheet that is attached to the concrete surface. To achieve this, a multi-scale actuated sensing system with a self-sensing circuit using piezoelectric active sensors is applied to the CFRP laminated concrete beam structure. In this self-sensing based multi-scale actuated sensing, one scale provides a wide frequency-band structural response from the self-sensed impedance measurements and the other scale provides a specific frequency-induced structural wavelet response from the self-sensed guided wave measurement. To quantify the de-bonding levels, the supervised learning-based statistical pattern recognition was implemented by composing a two-dimensional (2D) plane using the damage indices extracted from the impedance and guided wave features.

  • Currently, large-scale and deep-depth excavation construction is being carried out in the vicinity of structures due to overdensity in urban areas in Korea. It is very important to secure the safety of retaining structures and underground structures for adjacent excavation work in urban areas. The safety of facilities is managed by introducing an automated measurement system. However, the utilization of the results of the automated measurement system is very low. Conventional evaluation techniques rely only on the maximum value of the measured data, and can overestimate abnormal behavior. In this study, we intend to improve the analysis technique for the automation measurement results. In order to identify abnormal behavior of facilities, a time-series analysis method for automated measurement data was presented. By applying a probability statistical analysis technique to a vast amount of data, highly reliable results were derived. In this study, the analysis method and evaluation method that can process the vast amount of data of facilities have been improved.

Evaluation for Fundamental Periods of Domestic Rockfill Dams with Micro-earthquake Records (미소지진 계측기록을 활용한 국내 사력댐 고유주기 산정방법)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a method that can reliably evaluate the fundamental period of a rockfill dam using the micro-earthquake records, which were obtained at the domestic dam sites. For total 20 micro-earthquake records obtained at 7 domestic rockfill dam sites against 6 earthquake events which recently occurred, the fundamental periods of seven rockfill dams were evaluated by two kinds of methods; one is a method using acceleration amplification ratio and the other is a method using acceleration response spectrum ratio. Applicability of each method to evaluation of fundamental periods of domestic rockfill dams was examined. In the moderate seismicity region like our country, the method using acceleration response spectrum ratio, which could evaluate the fundamental period of the rockfill dam using the ratio between the response spectrum for acceleration observed at the dam crest and that observed at the dam base or abutment, proved to be reliable and was proposed in this study. From the results of analyses, it was found that the proposed method could consistently evaluate the fundamental period of the rockfill dam and the results obtained by the proposed method were very similar to the results by the existing method which was proposed from the analysis for the earthquake records observed at Japanese dam sites.

A Study on the Lateral Deformation of Retaining Walls during Excavation with Degree of Consolidation (압밀도에 따른 굴착시 흙막이벽 수평변위에 관한 연구)

  • This paper holds three objects. The first is to analyze surveys of concerning zone and promotion department. The data were collected through an examination of construction excavated in coastal soft (marine) clay and measurements obtained during excavating construction. The second is to observe the appropriate selection and the application of support system on earth retaining wall in soft clay. Lateral deformation behavior during the excavating construction according to the differences in a soft ground pressuring degree was investigated. The third is to compare the results with those of numerical analysis. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of lateral deformation when soft ground improvement for the expansion of infrastructure in object of study zone has been incompleted. Also, it is to identify the relationship between the degree of consolidation of soft ground and lateral deformation, in a method of displacement quantity in compliance with the numerical analysis and a quatitative analysis. In conclusion, displacement of excavated section after consolidation was fewer 60% averagely than section under consolidation.

  • This case study deals with an excavation blasting carried out at "Sooseo-Pyeongtek ${\bigcirc}$-${\bigcirc}$ section construction site" in the vicinity of residential area. Originally, the sequential blasting (multi-stage blasting) using electric detonators was planed in this area. However, there was a concern that the sequential blasting method could increase the construction cost by delaying the construction period due to possible complaints from local residents. As an alternative, electronic deck blasting technique was taken in order to meet the ground vibration regulation (0.2cm/s, in apartment area) and to keep the construction schedule. The performance of the electronic deck charge blasting was two times better than the sequential blasting with electric detonators and the level of ground vibration was also within the regulatory value (0.2cm/s). In particular, it was shown that the use of electronic detonater eDevII, which was developed for tunnel, could provide more convenient and electrically safer working condition.

  • In this paper, the results of back analysis based on, the inverse method are presented. Using the field measurements obtained from the two different underground storage caverns in Korea during their construction, the deformation modulus and the initial in-situ stresses of the rock masses around the access tunnels are calculated. The finite element analysis is carried out by usinB these results as input parameters. The calculated displacements are compared with the measured ones.

  • The ubiquitous computing environment is widely expanded in almost all industries such as transportation. physical distribution, manufacturing, communication, tourist industry, financial business, and so on. But the construction industry is not well applied yet. Thus this study investigate the ubiquitous computing environment and propose a way for applying this technology to the construction industry. To achieve this aim, this study consider about a instrumentation management of retaining wall system in earthmoving operations, and suggest the ubiquitous system configuration to measure the variance of retaining wall. Through this system, the efficiency of the instrumentation management of retaining wall will be improved.
