이종(異種) 화물열차의 제동-완해 공기압성능 균등화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Equalization of Pneumatic Brake-Release Performance between Various Freight Cars)

  • Experimental study has been conducted to clarify the pneumatic characteristics of brake system for freight train and enhance the performance of diaphragm valve. Empty-load and diaphragm brake systems are mainly used in the freight trains of KNR (Korean National Railroad). The train set is composed of thirty freight cars and diesel locomotive. From the experimental results, new quick release valve shortens release time after brake application. In case of normal brake application, the release time is short by 34% of that of original diaphragm control valve. It will be expected to assure brake-release application and reduce maintenance efforts.

  • Positioning performance with a normal pneumatic positioning system, is mainly affected by friction force on the actuator and nonlinear characteristics of the control valve. We proposed a positioning system which is composed of a pneumatic actuator and high speed control valve. for accurate and speedy positioning. Driving piston on the actuator is mounted with externally pressurized air bearings to clear the friction force. This paper studies a method in order that improves positioning ability of the pneumatic positioning system considering the nonlinear characteristics of the control valve and the actuator.

  • The benefits of the pneumatic valve with piezoelectric element are faster response times, low energy consumption, and the ability to be used in hazardous environments and field bus systems. In this paper, PZT actuator, 2 and 3 stages pneumatic valve were designed and manufactured. Also. characteristics of the pneumatic valve with piezoelectric element were tested with a testing system. It is confirmed that the PZT actuator is useful one for controlling the direction of pilot valve.

  • Two kinds of piezoelectric actuator are applied to the valve for controlling the direction, the flow and the pressure of the fluid. One is a stack type piezoelectric actuator which has very fast response characteristics but very tiny displacement. The other is a bender type piezoelectric actuator which has also fast response characteristics but lower than the stack type one, and has longer displacement than the stack type one. So, the bender type piezoelectric actuator has advantage to apply to the valve for controlling a large amount of flow and fast on-off operating. In this study, the bender type piezoelectric pneumatic valve for color sorter is designed and fabricated. The new type high speed piezo valve with the both side supporting mechanism for high operating frequency and high reliability is discussed for separating the foreign body from the grains. Finally, the performance characteristics of a fabricated valve are analyzed and the frequency characteristics are also discussed for substituting the conventional type solenoid actuator.

  • At the inlet and outlet differential pressure and The fluid velocity over 32m/s are damaged (Plug, sheet ring, trim) About reduction trim parts of the control valve.   • This paper is concerned with effective operating method of pneumatic on-off valves for improving position control accuracy, valve life-time and position settling time using modified pulse width modulation with dead-zone (MPWMD). The pneumatic system using on-off valves has advantage of simple construction and low cost compared with a system with servo-valves. The performance of the proposed control method is investigated experimentally for the position control of a pneumatic cylinder using on-off valves. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm for valve operation can be used to obtain fast and accurate position control compared to the conventional PWMD algorithm. It is also shown that the use of the proposed MPWMD algorithm for the position control significantly reduces the number of valve switching and noise.

  • Experimental study is conducted to clarify the pneumatic characteristics of brake system for freight train. Empty-load and diaphragm brake systems are mainly installed in the freight trains owned by KNR(Korean National Railroad). Experimental train set is composed of sixteen freight train and one diesel locomotive that are now in use. From the experimental results, in case of commercial brake, empty-load brake system responds to the brake command more slowly than the diaphragm brake system. But, in case of release command, the response time of diaphragm brake system is shorter than that of empty-load one. In the emergency brake test, the decreasing rate of brake pipe pressure of tenth car is almost same that of decreasing rate of commercial brake service.

Experiments are conducted by using freight train and diesel locomotive in operation. From the experimental results. new quick release valve shortens release time after brake application. In case of normal brake application, the release time is shortened to 34% of the original diaphragm valve. Reducing the release time of pneumatic brake system will be helpful to assure brake-release application and save maintenance efforts like wheel grinding.

공기압 쿠션 실린더의 미터아웃/미터인 속도제어 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Meter-Out and Meter-In Speed Control Characteristics in Pneumatic Cushion Cylinders)

  • Pneumatic cylinders are widely used to actuators in automatic equipments because they are relatively inexpensive, simple to install and maintain, offer robust design and operation, are available in a wide range of standard sizes and design alternatives. This paper presents a comparative study among the dynamic characteristics of meter-out and meter-in speed control of pneumatic cushion cylinders with a relief valve type cushion mechanism. Because of the nonlinear differential equations and a requirement for simultaneous iterative solution in a mathematical model of a double acting pneumatic cushion cylinder, a computer simulation is carried out to investigate pressure, temperature, mass flow rate in cushion chamber and displacement and velocity time histories of piston under various operating conditions. It is found that the piston velocity and pressure response in meter-in speed control are more oscillatory than with meter-out those when pneumatic cushion cylinders are driven at a high-speed. In meter-out speed control, the effective area of the flow control valve is larger than that of meter-in, and the supply pressure has to be much higher than the pressure required to move the load because it has also to overcome the back pressure in cushion chamber.
