미세 초음파 타원궤적 진동절삭 (II) 타원진동 절삭운동을 이용한 미세 홈 초음파 가공 (Micro Ultrasonic Elliptical Vibration Cutting (II) Ultrasonic Micro V-grooving Using Elliptical Vibration Cutting)

  • For precise micro V-grooving, ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting (UEVC) is proposed using two parallel piezoelectric actuators, which are energized by sinusoidal voltages with a phase difference of 90 degrees. Experimental setup is composed of stacked PZT actuators, a single crystal diamond cutting tool, and a precision motorized xyz stage. It is found that the chip formed in the process of UEVC is discontinuous because of the periodic contacts and non-contacts occurring between the tool and workpiece. It is experimentally observed that the cutting force in the process of UEVC significantly reduces compared to the ordinary non-vibration cutting. In addition, the creation of burr during UEVC is significantly suppressed, which is attributable to the decrease in the specific cutting energy.

  • Ball-end milling process is widely used in the die and mold manufacturing because of suitable for the machining of free-form surface. Pencil cutting can eliminate overload in uncut area caused by large diameter of ball-end mill before finish cutting. As the ball-end mill for pencil cutting is long and thin, it is easily deflected by cutting force. The tool deflection when pencil cutting is one of the main reason of the machining errors on a free-from surface. The purpose of the research is to find out the characteristics of deflected cutter trajectory by eddy-current sensor.

선반용대화형 프로그램의 개발 (A Development of Conversational Program for Lathe)

  • This paper describes a development of conversational program for lathe. The proposed program is a NC programming system specialized for use in machine tool controls. Its easy to use graphic interface built-in database capabilities make it an ideal way to program part on the shop floor. In order to manage effectively machining process it proposed the algorithm of tree structures for design processing. Also using interative structure it proposed the methods of conversational programming to generate automatically NC program.

자유곡면의 5축 NC 가공을 위한 CAM 시스템 개발 (Development of CAM system for 5-Axis NC machining of sculptured surfaces)

  • Developed in this research is a CAM system for 5-axis NC Machining of sculptured surfaces. We identify problems in generating 5-axis NC data and propose methods of overcoming them. Issues discussed in this paper are: kinematic modelling of NC machines; determination of cutter position (location and orientation); check of machine work-range; linear trajectory plann- ing ; calculation of feedrate number. The proposed system has been implemented in FORTRAN77 on the Personal IRIS EWS, and it also constitutes a module of the CAD/CAM system 'CASSET' developed in KIST CAD/CAM lab.

소프트웨어 펄스보간기의 성능비교에 관한 연구

  • 보간기(Interpolator)는 NC 공작기계에서 공구의 궤적 및 이송속도를 제어하는 주요한 요소이다. 보간기는 보간계산 과 펄스의 발생을 전자회로로서 행하는 하드웨어 보간기와 컴퓨터 프로그램으로 수행하는 소프트웨어 보간기로 나눌 수 있는데 하드웨어 보간기는 고속보간이 가능하지만, 유연성이 부족한 단점이 있기 때문에 CNC 화 뒤로는 그 의존도가 점점 낮아지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 더 광범위한 기준펄스 보간기의 특성을 조사하기 위하여 DDA, SPD(Smooth Pulse Distribution), SFG(Saita Function Generator) 방식의 직선, 원호, 타원보간 성능을 알고리즘의 처리속도, 경로오차의 측면에서 비교, 분석하였다.

  • This paper proposes an analytical method of evaluating the maximum error by modeling the exact tool path for the tool traverse singular region in five-axis machining. It is known that the NC data from the inverse kinematics transformation of 5-axis machining can generate singular positions where incoherent movements of the rotary axes can appear. These lead to unexpected errors and abrupt operations, resulting in scoring on the machined surface. To resolve this problem, previous methods have calculated several tool positions during a singular operation, using inverse kinematics equations to predict tool trajectory and approximate the maximum error. This type of numerical approach, configuring the tool trajectory, requires much computation time to obtain a sufficient number of tool positions in a region. We have derived an analytical equation for the tool trajectory in a singular area by modeling the tool operation into a linear and a nonlinear part that is a general form of the tool trajectory in the singular area and that is suitable for all types of five-axis machine tools. In addition, we have evaluated the maximum tool-path error exactly, using our analytical model. Our algorithm can be used to modify NC data, making the operation smoother and bringing any errors to within tolerance.

모의가공을 위한 공구 이동 궤적면의 비매개변수형 모델링 (Non-parametric Modeling of Cutter Swept Surfaces for Cutting Simulation)

  • This paper presents a new approach to non-parametric modeling of cutter swept surface (CSS) for cutting simulation. Instead of explicitly modeling cutter swept volumes, silhouette curves of the cutter surface are utilized in computing the z-value of the CSS at a grid point on the x,y-plane. The non-parametric evaluation of the CSS constitutes the integral part of 3-axis cutting simulation. The proposed method is more efficient than the existing ones in the case of conventional cutters (i.e., ball-end mills and flat-end mills), and more importantly, it enables the non-parametric modeling of the CSS for the round-end mills which was not possible with the existing methods.

  • Finding intersection point between a surface and a line is one of major problem in CAD/CAM. The intersection point could be found in an exact form or with numerical method. In this paper, the exact solution of the intersection point between a ruled surface which is generated by the movement of an endmill and the z-direction vector is presented. The cutter swept surface which is a ruled surface and the Z-direction vector are represented with parametric equations. With the nature of parametric equations, the geometric properties at the intersection point are easily acquired.

  • For precise micro-grooving and surface machining, ultrasonic cyclic elliptical cutting is proposed using two parallel piezoelectric actuators. The piezoelectric actuators are energized by sinusoidal voltages of varying phase which is essenstial to generating elliptical cutting. Experimental setup is composed of ultrasonic motor, single crystal diamond cutting tool, and precise motorized xyz stage. It is confirmed experimentally that the cutting performance, in terms of the cutting force, the burr formation, and the discontinuous chip formation is improved remarkably by applying ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting.

칼만필터를 적용한 UWB 센서기반 제조업 조립공정작업의 실시간 위치추적 시스템 개발 (Development of a Real-Time Position Tracking System for a Manufacturing Process Based on a UWB Sensor Using a Kalman Filter)

  • 일반적인 기계나 자동차 등의 제조업 조립공정은 공정별 흐름에 근접센서, 바코더, RFID, ZigBee, Bluetooth, 무선 센서 네트워크 등의 유무선 정보 수집 장치를 활용하여 실시간으로 공정 진행 정보를 네트워크를 통하여 상위의 제조 실행 시스템 MES(Manufacturing Execution System) 서버로 수집하는 방식으로서 공정의 흐름을 파악하고 생산량을 점검하기에 적합하나 개별 작업자의 해당 작업장 내에서의 작업 누락이나 동선 파악을 위한 실시간 위치 추적은 어려운 실정이다. 이를 극복하기 위하여, 작업자 공구의 실시간 위치 추적시스템 도입을 통해 공구의 위치 및 궤적을 실시간으로 분석하여 작업자에게 일관된 작업 순서를 지시하고 작업의 누락 및 가감을 체크한다면, 비숙련공이나 실수에 의해서 조립공정에서 발생할 수 있는 조립불량을 작업자에게 실시간으로 알려주거나 사전에 차단하여 생산성 및 품질향상을 이룰 수 있다. 이를 위하여, 전동공구의 기계적인 진동 및 무선통신 노이즈를 제거하고 측정신호의 정밀도 향상을 위하여 칼만필터를 적용한 UWB(Ultra Wide Band) 삼변측량 기반의 실시간 공구 위치 추적 센서시스템을 개발하였고 이동평균필터에 비해 약 21%의 무선측정 성능개선을 통하여 그 효용성을 증명하였다.
