A Study on the Single Line-to-Ground Fault Analysis of HTS Power Cable (초전도 전력케이블의 1선 지락고장 특성 해석에 관한 연구)

  • High temperature superconducting(HTS) power cable is expected to be used for power transmission lines supplying electric power for densely populated cities in the near future. Commercializing of HTS power cable is coming. Simulation is required for safety before install of HTS power cable, 3 fabrication model used at the power system simulation. In this paper, we shows a single line-to ground fault analysis in the grid system which has a loom length HTS power cable. The authors developed a single line-to-ground fault current calculation method which is considering the shield layer of HTS power cable. In the calculation, the T type equivalent circuit is used to derive the mutual inductance of the HTS power cable.

  • The objective of this paper is to analyze power system dynamics influenced by UPFC(Unified Power flow Controller) operation and to develop a refined DCRM(Differential Current Relaying Method) to protect the transmission line with UPFC effectively. The implementation of control strategies for UPFC introduces new power system dynamic problems that must be considered while applying the conventional DCRM. In this paper, impact of UPFC operation on the DCRM has been reviewed and a refined DCRM has been proposed to detect faults properly in spite of UPFC operation. The porposed method is verified by simulation on the line-faulted system with UPFC.

  • In the three phase four wire system, voltage unbalance caused by the unbalanced load operation, gives rise to current unbalance and de-rates by the increase of machine's loss and eventually enlarges power capacity and besides has a bad effect on power quality. Power capacitor has been used for the power factor correction of inductive load and the voltage stability of power system. And it uses instead of power side for magnetic excitation of induction motor. If voltage unbalance keeps up, it affects on voltage stress at the power capacitor and finally can be caused breakdown. In this paper, we analysed that voltage and current of power capacitor increases by the voltage unbalance factor and its stress is growing more and more.

  • 최근 기후변화로 인한 집중호우, 가뭄 등 예측하기 어려운 사태가 발생하면서 깨끗하고 안정적인 용수공급 기술의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 이에 IoT와 기존 물관리시스템을 결합한 스마트워터그리드 출범은 실시간으로 수요와 공급량의 정보를 취득하여 물 관리 효율성을 제고 할 수 있게 되었다. 실시간 수요량 자료를 이용하여 물 수요량 예측을 통한 최적의 물 공급량을 결정할 수 있다. 이 때 스마트워터그리드의 핵심 기술은 실시간으로 취득한 자료의 품질관리라 할 수 있다. 본 연구 대상지역인 영종도 112 블록에는 528개 AMI 스마트 미터를 이용하여 1시간 단위의 물 수요량 자료를 원격 검침하고 있다. 각 수용가에 설치된 AMI 센서를 통해 수집된 자료에는 오류를 포함할 수 있는데 통신 장애, 미터기 고장 및 교체 등으로 발생된다. 결측된 수요량 자료는 상수관망 수리해석에 사용되는 기본자료로서 비표본오차를 증가시켜 검정력과 정확성을 결여시키는 문제가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 수집된 자료를 가용할 수 있는 자료로 정제하고 대체하기 위해 완전히 관찰된 자료(complete data)만을 이용하여 각 시간에 따른 관경별, 용도별 그리고 요일별 수요패턴을 추정한다. 결측된 자료는 기존에 사용되는 평균대체법과 핫덱 대체(hot deck imputation) 등과 비교 검증한다.

Fault Detection of Small Turbojet Engine for UAV Using Unscented Kalman Filter and Sequential Probability Ratio Test (무향칼만필터와 연속확률비 평가를 이용한 무인기용 소형제트엔진의 결함탐지)

  • A study is performed for the effective detection method of a fault which is occurred during operation in a small turbojet engine with non-linear characteristics used by unmanned air vehicle. For this study the non-linear dynamic model of the engine is derived from transient thermodynamic cycle analysis. Also for inducing real operation conditions the controller is developed associated with unscented Kalman filter to estimate noises. Sequential probability ratio test is introduced as a real time method to detect a fault which is manipulated for simulation as a malfunction of rotational speed sensor contaminated by large amount of noise. The method applied to the fault detection during operation verifies its effectiveness and high feasibility by showing good and definite decision performances of the fault.

  • RMembrane LNG storage tanks have been recently investigated to replace full-containment LNG storage tanks because of safety and cost aspects. Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) and Finite Element Method (FEM) were used to evaluate safety of membrane LNG storage tanks. In this study, structural safety evaluation results via FEM analysis showed that both membrane type and full-containment type cryogenic LNG storage tanks with 140,000 $m^3$ capacity were equivalently safe in terms of strength safety and leakage safety of a storage tank system. Also, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) was used to improve the safety of membrane LNG storage tanks and membrane LNG tanks were modified by adding three safety equipments: impact absorber structure for the low part of the membrane, the secondary barrier to diminish the thermal stress of the corner part of the outer tank, and a pump catcher in case of falling of a pump. Consequently, the safety of the modified membrane LNG storage tanks were proved to be equivalent to that of full-containment LNG storage tanks.

  • This study examined the integrity of diesel engines for underwater vessels through failure analysis, analyzed the causes of abnormal diesel engine stoppage during building and examined the integrity of secondary damages. The diesel engine stoppage was analyzed by checking the temperature change of the piston before and after the abnormality and checking the damage. In addition, in order to analyze the secondary damage caused by the explosion, the tensile and compressive stresses transmitted to the crankshaft, the core part of the diesel engine, were calculated, and the stress distribution was examined through finite element analysis, but the crankshaft was designed by safety. It was confirmed that there was no damage to the crankcase even when the diesel engine was taken out of the ship and closely inspected. The integrity of the crank shaft was verified in advance for the occurrence of diesel engine emergency shutdown accidents through this research result. Therefore, the inspection and restoration were carried out to the minimum extent, and the quality of diesel engines was secured. This study is expected to be used as a reference for ensuring soundness in any future review of diesel engine quality problems.

Proposal of Connection Details for a Double Split Tee Connection Without a Shear tap (전단탭이 없는 상·하부 스플릿 티 접합부의 접합부상세 제안)

  • A double split tee connection, which is a beam-column moment connection, shows different behavioral characteristics under the influences of the thickness of a T-stub flange, a high-strength bolt gauge distance, and the number and diameter of a high-strength bolt. A double split tee connection is idealized and designed that a flexural moment normally acting on connections can be resisted by a T-stub and a shear force by a shear tap. However, where a double split tee connection is adopted to a low-and medium-rise steel structure, a small-sized beam member can be adopted. Then, a shear tab may not be bolted to the web of a beam. This study was conducted to suggest the details of a connection to secure that a double split tee connection with a geometric shape has a sufficient capacity to resist a shear force. To verify this, this study was conducted to make a three-dimensional nonlinear finite element analysis on a double split tee connection.

Development of Stand-Alone Risk Assessment Software for Optimized Maintenance Planning of Power Plant Facilities (발전설비 최적 정비를 위한 독립형 위험도 평가 소프트웨어 개발)

  • Risk-Risk-based inspection (RBI) has been developed in order to identify risky equipments that can cause major accidents or damages in large-scale plants. This assessment evaluates the equipment's risk, categorizes their priorities based on risk level, and then determines the urgency of their maintenance or allocates maintenance resources. An earlier version of the risk-based assessment software is already installed within the equipment management system; however, the assessment is based on examination by an inspector, and the results can be influenced by his subjective judgment, rather than assessment being based on failure probability. Moreover, the system is housed within a server, which limits the inspector's work space and time, and such a system can be used only on site. In this paper, the development of independent risk-based assessment software is introduced; this software calculates the failure probability by an analytical method, and analyzes the field inspection results, as well as inspection effectiveness. It can also operate on site, since it can be installed on an independent platform, and has the ability to generate an I/O function for the field inspection results regarding the period for an optimum maintenance cycle. This program will provide useful information not only to the field users who are participating in maintenance, but also to the engineers who need to decide whether to extend the lifecycle of the power machinery or replace only specific components.

Statistical Techniques to Detect Sensor Drifts (센서드리프트 판별을 위한 통계적 탐지기술 고찰)

  • In a nuclear power plant (NPP), periodic sensor calibrations are required to assure sensors are operating correctly. However, only a few faulty sensors are found to be calibrated. For the safe operation of an NPP and the reduction of unnecessary calibration, on-line calibration monitoring is needed. In this paper, principal component-based Auto-Associative support vector regression (PCSVR) was proposed for the sensor signal validation of the NPP. It utilizes the attractive merits of principal component analysis (PCA) for extracting predominant feature vectors and AASVR because it easily represents complicated processes that are difficult to model with analytical and mechanistic models. With the use of real plant startup data from the Kori Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3, SVR hyperparameters were optimized by the response surface methodology (RSM). Moreover the statistical techniques are integrated with PCSVR for the failure detection. The residuals between the estimated signals and the measured signals are tested by the Shewhart Control Chart, Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA), Cumulative Sum (CUSUM) and generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) to detect whether the sensors are failed or not. This study shows the GLRT can be a candidate for the detection of sensor drift.
