Investigation on the Change of Ammonia Dissociation for Satellite Thruster According to the Catalyst Loss (위성추력기에서 촉매유실에 따른 암모니아 해리도 변화에 대한 연구)

  • During the development of the iridium catalyst for domestic production, the catalyst failure, loss, sintering phenomena are observed by high pressure and temperature. By these abnormal failure of catalyst bed, the performance of thruster is degraded. To figure out the detail phenomena on the damaged catalyst bed, a numerical analysis code is developed by assuming the catalyst bed as an one dimensional porous media. The numerical analysis code is validated with experiment data. Thereby, resulting physical phenomena are examined by considering the variation of catalyst bed characteristics incurred by catalyst granule failure. Through these numerical analyses we figure out the effect of the catalyst loss on the decomposition of hydrazine and ammonia.

  • The effects of the high pressure and the high temperature digesting process with water on the properties of rice hull were investigated in this work. Two temperature condition such as $160^{\circ}C$ and $180^{\circ}C$ and thee treatment time such as 15 min, 30 min and 45 min were applied for this treatment. The pH of extract after the digestion process decreased as the temperature and the treatment time of the digestion were increased. The ash content and lignin content were not decreased by the the digestion. The structure of rice hull after digestion treatment became more weak, the better efficiency of the fiberization with PFI-Mill was shown for the digestion treated rice hull with the higher temperature and the longer treatment time.

  • Olivine is a dominant mineral in the upper mantle and is elastically very anisotropic. When olivine is deformed under stress at high pressure and high temperature, lattice preferred orientation (LPO) is formed. It is known that the LPO of olivine is affected by water, stress, and pressure. In this paper, I reviewed the papers dealing with the effects of water, stress, and pressure on the LPO of olivine, summarized the papers on the LPOs of olivine in natural mantle rocks, and discussed its implications for seismic anisotropy in the upper mantle. In addition, I also described four types of LPOs of orthopyroxene recently found in natural spinel lherzolite.

  • INCONEL 718합금은 상온, 고온 및 저온환경에서 기계적 특성이 아주 우수하다. 상온에서의 모재 강도는 약 900MPa이며, 열처리 후 시효경화처리에 의해 강도가 약 1300MPa까지 증가한다. 이러한 INCONEL 718합금의 기계적 특성은 시험결과에서도 유사한 값을 나타내었고, GTAW 용접부의 상온 기계적 특성도 모재보다 우수한 강도를 나타내었다. 또한 저온에서의 기계적 특성은 모든 시험조건에서 상온보다 높은 강도를 나타내었으며, 열처리 모재시편과 용접시편은 1400MPa에 달하는 고강도를 나타내었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 INCONEL 718합금의 저온 기계적 특성이 우수한 것을 증명하였고, 용접성 또한 모재의 특성과 같이 상온 및 저온 특성이 우수한 것을 알 수 있었다. INCONEL 718 합금과 STS 316L의 이종접합의 경우에도 $-100^{\circ}C$환경의 인장강도가 상온보다 300MPa 이상 증가하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, INCONEL 718합금은 $100^{\circ}C$이하부터 일정온도까지는 기계적 특성이 계속 증가 할 것으로 사료되며, 극저온 고압 상태로 공급되는 산화제 배관 제작에 적합한 소재로 판단된다.

Drivability and Bearing Capacity of PHC Pile Foundation (PHC 말뚝의 항타시공성 및 지지력에 관한 연구)

  • The main characteristics of PHC piles is that silica material and autoclave curing technique are used when manufacturing to have higher strength than PC piles. In this paper, pile drivability and bearing capacity characteristics of the PHC piles are studied through numerical analysis based on wave propagation theory, driving records and pile load tests in situ. It is found that we can have higher bearing capacity by using the PHC piles rather than the PC on condition that the most effective driving equipment is chosen when driving the pile. In other words, since the PHC piles have higher resistance to driving energy, the heavier ram can be used in the driving process, which results in the higher bearing capacity.

A Study on the Effect of Turbulent Combustion upon Soot Formation in Premixed Constant-Volume Propane Flames (정적 예혼합 프로판 화염의 매연생성에 미치는 난류연소 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The soot yield is studied by a premixed propane-oxygen-inert gas combustion in a specially designed disk-type constant-volume combustion chamber to investigate the effect of turbulence on soot formation. Premixtures are simultaneously ignited by eight spark plugs located on the circumference of chamber at 45 degree intervals in order to observe the soot formation under high pressures and high temperatures. The eight flames converged compress the end gases to a high pressure. The laser schlieren and direct flame photographs for observation field with 10 mm in diameter are taken to examine into the behaviors of flame front and gas flow in laminar and turbulent combustion. The soot volume fraction in the chamber center during the final stage of combustion at the highest pressure is measured by the in situ laser extinction technique and simultaneously the corresponding burnt gas temperature by the two-color pyrometry method. It is found that the soot yield of turbulent combustion decreases in comparison with that of laminar combustion because the burnt gas temperature increases with the drop of heat loss.

  • The improvement of fuel economy and the reduction of diesel exhaust PM(Particulate Matter) and $NO_X$ have been successfully achieved by supplying diesel engines with emulsified diesel oil. However, combustion analysis of emulsified C-heavy oil is difficult because the combustion characteristics of emulsified C-heavy oil compared to other fuels have a special form. Therefore, these experimental researches have analyzed the combustion characteristics of emulsified C-heavy oil in a chamber with high pressure and temperature. The pressure and the rate of heat releases in a combustion chamber was decreased with increasing the water content and the ignition delay time was increased with increasing the water percent.

  • This paper presents the numerical thermal analysis for regeneratively cooled rocket thrust chambers. An integrated numerical model incorporates computational fluid dynamics for the hot-gas thermal environment, and thermal analysis for the liner and coolant channels. The flow and temperature fields in rocket thrust chambers is assumed to be axisymmetric steady state which is presumed to the combustion liner. The heat flux computed from nozzle flow is used to predict the temperature distribution of the combustion liner As a result, we present the wall temperature of combustion liner and the temperature change of coolant.

  • The behaviors of combustion-induced internal flows of SRM equipped with fin-slot grain and submerged nozzle are very complex and diverse. Cold air-flow tests for 2D and 3D scale models of SRM have been done in order to specify the visualization method to analyze particular internal flow patterns such as roll-torque inducing flow. Swirl flow induced by asymmetric vortical tubes also has been visualized through employing various light source and recording directions.
