  • The availability and use (citedness) of Korean medical journals are measured based on the bibliometric data of 82 journals evaluated by the Korean Association of Medical Journal Editors between 1997 and 1999. A Korean medical journal is held on the average by one half of Korean medical libraries investigated. Only 10 journals (12.2%) are covered in any of 36 abstract and index databases in the field of medicine searchable through DIALOG. The journal self-citation rate is 3.402%. 1.092% of papers are cited at least once by SCI journal papers within 3 years after publication. The average SCI impact factor of Korean medical journals is 0.111, However, the impact factor of MEDLINE or SCISearch journals is 10 times higher. The results show that the Korean medical journals are not easily available domestically and internationally. They are hardly cited by Korean colleagues or by foreign scholars either.

  • The feasibility study is an evaluation and analysis of the potential of a proposed project. It is based on extensive investigation and research to support the process of decision making. A systematic approach to determining the optimum use of scarce resources, involving comparison of two or more alternatives in achieving a specific objective under the given assumptions and constraints. Economic analysis takes into account the opportunity costs of resources employed and attempts to measure in monetary terms the private and social costs and benefits of a project to the community or economy. Cost-benefit analysis (CBA), sometimes called benefit-cost analysis (BCA), is a systematic approach to estimating the strengths and weaknesses of alternatives that satisfy transactions, activities or functional requirements for a business. It is a technique that is used to determine options that provide the best approach for the adoption and practice in terms of benefits in labor, time and cost savings etc. The CBA is also defined as a systematic process for calculating and comparing benefits and costs of a project, decision or government policy and projects.

  • Benthic macroinvertebrates are important ecological and environmental indicators as primary or secondary consumers, and therefore are widely used in the evaluation of aquatic environments. However, there are no comprehensive river ecosystem monitoring surveys that link the major physicochemical water quality items with benthic macroinvertebrates in urban streams. Therefore, this study investigated the distribution characteristics of benthic macroinvertebrates and physicochemical water quality items (17 items) in Yangjaecheon and Yeouicheon from 2019 to 2020. At the same time, by applying Spearman's rank correlation analysis and nonmetric multidimensional scaling (nMDS) analysis in the water quality data and biotic index, we tried to provide basic data for diagnosing the current status of river ecosystems in major urban rivers in Seoul. Based on the study results, a total of 39 species and 3,787 individuals were identified in Yangjaecheon, the water quality(based on BOD, TOC, and TP) of Yangjaecheon was higher than Grade Ib(good), and the BMI using benthic macroinvertebrates appeared as Grade C(normal) at all the sites. In Yeouicheon, a total of 51 species and 4,199 individuals were identified, the water quality(based on BOD, TOC, TP) was higher than Grade Ib(good) similar to Yangjaecheon, and the BMI of both Upstream and Saewon bridge was Grade B(good), while Yeoui bridge was Grade C(normal). Overall, analysis results for the distribution of benthic macroinvertebrates by a nonmetric multidimensional scaling method showed no significant difference between the two streams (p=0.1491). Also, significant environmental variables related to benthic macroinvertebrates distribution were determined as water temperature and DO. On the other hand, the results of the correlation analysis between biotic index and major water quality items confirmed that R1 and BMI could be used for on-site urban river water quality evaluation.

  • To quantify an concept we often use Likert summated rating scale of original or standardized variables in case the variables are relatively less. When variables have different scales, standardized values tends to be used rather than the original values. This is also true in evaluating systems. For example, we may use standardized values of local tax levy, population, and etc. and use the summed value of the standardized values to access the degrees of development. In this paper, we propose using a data-driven weighted sum for a scoring system and the way how to obtain the weights. We apply the proposed method to a real data set and find that proposed method is better than the usual summated rating scale.

  • Translating expert knowledge into production rules has been the most difficult and time-consuming when building expert systems (Buchanan et al. 1983). Especially, buidling hierarchical structure, i. e. developing sequential or dominant relationship among production rules is one of the most important and difficult processes. Hierarchical relationship among rules has been typically determined in the course of interviewing human experts. Since this interviewing procedure is rather subjective, however, the hierarchically structured rules produced in terms of interviewing is widely exposed to the severe discussion about their validity (Nisbett and Wilson 1977 : Ericsson and Simon 1980 : Kellog 1982). We thus need an objective method to effectively translate human expert knowledge into structured rules. As such a method, this paper suggests the order anlaysis technique that has been studied in psychometries (Cliff 1977 : Reynolds 1981 : Wise 1983). In this paper we briefly introduce the order analysis and explain how it can be applied to building hierarchical structure of production rules. We also illustrate how bankrupcy prediction rules of small-medium companies can be developed using this order analysis technique. Further, we validata the effectiveness of these rules developed by the order analysis, in comparison with those built by other methods. The rules developed by the proposed outperform those of the other traditional methods in effectively screening the bankrupted firms.

  • This research was to count and quantify relative importance through analytic hierarchy process on checkups items in order to solve the questions raised by uniformalized numbering in the established athletes self management test. This study has the following results. The relative importance in priority factors of the test is in following order of training management, mental care, body care and interpersonal management. It was also confirmed that relative importance varied according to every checkup item in the lower factors. Consequently, the new result from this study, as an initial research for the relative importance of athletes self management test, supplied the possibility in which the sports-field expert's opinion was reflected. It was expected that this study would be helpful for enhancing athletes' competence in the sports field.

  • The purpose of this study was to establish an analytical framework and quantitative methodologies to analyze 'the cognitive effects of web map use' and to empirically test it. This experimental design was established based on the literature about spatial cognition. Accuracy, reaction time, and confidence within each participant were compared to measure the cognitive effects of web map use for wayfinding. Geometric accuracy of the cognitive maps was estimated and calculated based on the bidimensional regression. The experimental results showed that characteristics of map users and repetition of map use rather than types of map representation did significantly affect accuracy and reaction time of spatial cognition by using web maps. And confidence appeared to be low when the participants referred to both 2D and 3D maps for wayfinding tasks on the web maps. Understanding spatial cognition of web map users, which was suggested in the study, will help cartographers make more effectively-communicated maps.

  • Current trend of audit is to check the physical aspects of developed information system, such as checking the budget constraints, time constraints or functional fluency etc. However, ultimate goal of information system is to help the organization to achieve the competency over their competitors. Also, there are three different interest groups in system auditing, like audit requesting group, audited group and audit group, who may have different points of interests in auditing. Current auditing process, however, ignores this point, and so does not check the differences between three groups. This study tries to develop new auditing method to cure these two problems. Contributions of this study may be summarized as follows. First, Introduce the new indexes that can check the possibility that the information system may contribute the competency of organization. Also check the feasibility of indexes through Fuzzy AHP. Second, Divide the audit related person into three groups, and their different needs toward the information system was analyzed. Third, Analyze and compare the main interests of three groups, and weights of each groups to each indexes were calculated. Fourth, Fuzzy theory was applied to quantify the qualitative answers, which may minimize the ambiguity of questionnaire replies.

  • It is necessary to evaluate methods for reasonable diagnosis for public transportation. However, previous studies have the problems in evaluation ground and propriety. Therefore, this research develop the method and equation for evaluating bus route considering interregional equity and route doubleness. This study developed in bus route evaluation method using Seoul bus Zone, and included the result of evaluation test using 199 route Seoul trunk bus (blue bus). Zone (0) (Jongno-gu, Jung-gu and Yongsan-gu) has the highest score in Evaluation result. Also this zone has good bus route, so it is easy to move to other Zone. It is possible to change and add the bus route to use the equation in this study, considering interregional equity.
