Near-field Target Localization Using Bottom-mounted Linear Sensor Array in Multipath Environment (다중경로환경에서 바닥고정형 선배열센서를 이용한 근거리표적의 위치추정기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a near-field target localization algorithm using a bottom-mounted linear sensor amy in a multipath environment. In a multipath environment, the conic angles of a target signals through each path are different, and the position of the target can be estimated using these conic angles and the time difference of these signals. We derive equations on the relation of time-difference of signals and conic angles estimates under the far-field assumption, and estimate the position of target by simultaneously solving these equations. For a certain geometry of a target and the sensor array, there exist cases when the conic angles are very close. In such a case, we estimate the position of the target using an additional 1-D search.

  • We propose a new scheme combining the compensation of HPA nonlinearity and the calibration of the path imperfections in the downlink OFDM smart antenna systems. We use a two term third-order polynomial (without second-order term) and the feedforward method for compensation and calibration to make each path of the antenna array have equal characteristics. Since the proposed scheme does not alter the base-band signal, it can be applied to the smart antenna system independently of the base-band signal processing section. The result of computer simulations shows that, with the addition of only one third-order term, the adverse nonlinear effects can be effectively compensated, and the those of linear imperfections can be calibrated as well.

  • In this Paper, the matched filter for searching initial synchronization in DSSS (direct sequence spread spectrum) receiver is studied. The matched filter with a single data flow path is described which can be presented by HDL (Hardware Description Language). In order to improve the processing time of operations for the filter, equations are arranged to represent two data flow paths and the associated hardware model is proposed. The model has an architecture based on parallelism and pipeline for fast processing, in which two data flow paths with a series of memory, multiplier and accumulator are placed in parallel. The performance of the model is analyzed and compared with the matched filter with a single data flow path.

  • The plane elastostatic boundary value problem with the sharp V-notched singularity is formulated by a contour integral method for determining numerically the stress intensity factors. The integral formula is based on Somigliana type of reciprocal work in terms of displacement and traction vectors on the plate boundary. The characteristic singular solutions can be identified on the basis of traction free boundary conditions of two radial notch edges. Two numerical example examples are treated in detail; a symmetric mode-I type of notched plate with various interior angles and a mixed mode type of cantilever subjected to end shear.

Performance Improvement Techniques for a DS-UWB System (DS-UWB 시스템의 성능 향상 기법)

  • In this paper, a new receiver with low complexity for a DS-UWB system which can eliminate efficiently the multiple access interference and the detrimental effects caused by multi-paths is proposed. The performance of conventional DS-UWB receivers depends greatly on the types and lengths of spreading codes. Generally, as the length of spreading codes increases, the receiver performance improves. But, the receiver performance does not improve satisfactorily in a multi-paths fading environment. Through computer simulations, it can be shown that the proposed DS-UWB receiver eliminate the multi-paths effects efficiently in a multi-user, multi-paths fading environment, and the user capacity can be increased dramatically using the proposed receiver.

  • As XML has become an emerging standard for information exchange on the World Wide Web, it has gained attention in database communities to extract information from XML seen as a database model. XML queries are based on regular path queries, which find objects reachable by given regular expressions. To answer many kinds of user queries, it is necessary to evaluate queries that have multiple regular path expressions. However, previous work such as query rewriting and query optimization in the frame work of semistructured data has dealt with a single regular expression. For queries that have multiple regular expressions we suggest a two phase optimizing technique: 1. query rewriting using views by finding the mappings from the view's body to the query's body and 2. for rewritten queries, evaluating each query conjunct and combining them. We show that our rewriting algorithm is sound and our query evaluation technique is more efficient than the previous work on optimizing semistructured queries.

  • 2002년 현재 서울시는 99.99%에 이르는 높은 상수도 보급율에 비하여 유수율은 선진국의 수준에 이르지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 이는 정수장에서 배수지까지 연결되는 송수관과 배수지에서 각 가정으로 보낼 때 사용되는 배급수관에서의 누수 발생이 주 원인이며, 이는 곧 체계적인 관망 설계 및 운영이 미흡하기 때문인 것으로 지적되고 있다. 상수관로의 누수현상을 해결하고 효과적인 관리를 위한 근본적인 대책으로 노후관로의 교체가 필요하게 된다. 또한 노후관망 교체 등 유사시에 안정적인 상수의 공급을 위해 배수지간을 연결하는 대안 관로를 둘 필요가 있으며, 이러한 관망의 경로를 적절하게 설계해야 하는 것도 주요한 상수 공급 문제 중의 하나이다. 2000년 서울시 수도 정비 기본 계획의 관망 정비계획에 따르면 배수관리를 원활하게 하고 누수를 효율적으로 탐지·방지하기 위한 가장 이상적인 관망구성은 배수지 중심의 블록 시스템으로 보고 있다. 이와 같은 문제점들을 기반으로 하여, 본 연구는 GIS를 이용하여 효과적으로 노후관망을 관리하고, 대안 관망경로를 구축하는 시스템을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서는 배수지를 중심으로 한 블록 단위기반의 관망 노후도를 체계적으로 분석하는 시스템과 함께, 유사시를 대비한 최단/최적의 대안 경로를 산출하는 시스템을 구현하여 이를 서울 일부지역에 적용하여 그 유용성을 점검하였다. 상수도 관망의 설치 계획은 상수도 시설의 규모의 확장과 시설계량에 있어 대규모의 비용과 시간이 요구되는 특성을 가지고 있기 때문에 시설투자에 있어 정확한 예측과 분석을 통해 이루어져야 한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 예측과 분석의 의사결정을 지원할 수 있는 상수도 배수 블록 노후도 관리 시스템과 최단/최적 연결 경로 산출 시스템을 구현해 봄으로써 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 상수도의 관망 노후도의 분석을 화면상에서 다양한 요소별로 하게 함으로써 넓은 공간에서의 관망의 관리를 효과적으로 할 수 있게 해준다. 2. 또한 이와 함께 대안 관망들을 사용자가 직접 대화식으로 빠르게 설계하고 이들의 경로와 공사비용 등을 산출해 봄으로써, 후보 최적 경로들을 공간적, 정량적으로 비교하는 것이 용이하다.

  • In this paper, the intelligent vision system for an effective and intelligent path-planning of an industrial AGV system based on stereo camera system is proposed. The depth information and disparity map are detected in the inputting images of a parallel stereo camera. The distance between the industrial AGV system and the obstacle detected and the 2D Path coordinates obtained from the location coordinates, and then the relative distance between the obstacle and the other objects obtained from them. The industrial AGV system move automatically by effective and intelligent path-planning using the obtained 2D path coordinates. From some experiments on AGV system driving with the stereo images, it is analyzed that error ratio between the calculated and measured values of the distance between the objects is found to be very low value of 2.5% on average, respectably.

  • In this study, the value of travel time was estimated with reflecting the fuel cost according to travel distance. The main objective of this study is whether the addition of the fuel cost as a factor for route choice behavior is appropriate or not, through the stated preference survey. The route choice model was developed using SP survey technique with the consideration of level difference and the value of travel time, toll and fuel costs. Consequently, the fuel cost is identified as a main factor like travel time and toll cost in choosing routes from drivers' viewpoints. Nevertheless, since toll costs are recognized as out-of-pocket expenses whereas fuel costs as periodical expenses, it seems drivers are more sensitive to toll than fuel costs.
