A MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit) mixer chip using the schottky diode of InGaAs/CaAs p-HEMT process has been developed for receiver down converter of Ka-band. A different approach of MMIC mixer structure is applied for reducing the chip size by the exchange of ports between IF and LO. This MMIC covers with RF (30.6∼31.0㎓)and IF (20.8∼21.2㎓). According to the on-wafer measurement, the MMIC mixer with miniature size of 3.0mm1.5mm demonstrates conversion loss below 7.8㏈, LO-to-RF isolation above 27㏈, LO-to-IF isolation above 19㏈ and RF-to-IF isolation above 39㏈, respectively.
The first case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) was reported in Korea in 2015, after a Korean man from Bahrain tested positive for the infection. After first eruption, there were numbers of secondary infectees and whole country were frightened. At the time, isolated ambulances were available but few, and there was no specific way to prevent contamination during transfer. Therefore, Seoul National University Hospital and the University of Seoul developed isolation units and air filters. Four years after the MERS outbreak, this study measured the differential pressure inside and outside the small isolation units based on the differential pressure and air flow derived from simulation and testing, and proposed minimum values for virus leakage and internal sealing. A performance evaluation and testing method for the transfer equipment is proposed. The critical function of the small isolated transport equipment was defined and selected as an evaluation item; performance evaluation was carried out by simulating a real-world case. The results provide the proper pressure configuration of positive and negative pressure inside the segregation feeder; the clear criteria for the HEPA filter; and the performance criteria for the segregation feeder and air purifier.
This study analyzes the factors that determine the attitude toward the electronic wristband(smartband) to check the position of self-quarantine subjects due to COVID-19. Furthermore, I analyze the interaction of class and age among the factors that determine attitudes toward the electronic wristband. In this study, the attitude toward self-quarantine electronic wristband is analyzed as a binary logit model, focusing on class and age. As a result of the analysis, the middle class significantly agreed with the self-quarantine electronic wristband compared to the lower class, and the older the person, the more in favor. On the other hand, the interaction between the class and the age shows that the age weakens the positive effect on the attitude of the self-quarantine electronic wristband in the middle and upper middle classes. The implication of this study is that it is necessary to push for mandatory electronic wristband in areas with high proportion of high-aged people with positive attitude toward self-quarantine electronic wristband and in the same age group, the approval rate is low, so it is necessary to promote mandatory electronic wristband in areas where the vulnerable class is dense.
In this study, it is aimed to prevent the spread of pollutants in the event of a major disaster caused by CBRNE accidents and attacks and build up system to provide optimal transport environment for each patient condition By identifying characteristics of existing products and make them immediately applicable in the field. The purpose of this study is suggesting essential consideration in both functional and performance in the development of the isolation unit. As a result of the study, it suggests (1) basic function, (2) efficient field utilization, (3) isolation unit interface and combination of modules in development of isolation unit.

We report on a high performance 94 GHz MMIC resistive mixer using 70-nm metamorphic high electron mobility transistor (MHEMT) and micro-machined W-band ring coupler. A novel 3-dimensional structure of resistive mixer was proposed in this work, and the ring coupler with the surface micro-machined dielectric-supported air-gap microstrip line (DAMLs) structure was used for high LO-RF isolation. The fabricated mixer showed an excellent LO-RF isolation of -29.3 dB and a low conversion loss of 8.9 dB at 94 GHz. To our knowledge, compared to previously reported W-band mixers, the proposed MHEMT-based resistive mixer using micro-machined ring coupler has shown superior LO-RF isolation as well as similar conversion loss.

In this paper, we report on a high performance 94 GHz MMIC mixer module using 0.1-um metamorphic high electron mobility transistors (MHEMTs). A modified resistive mixer with a RF amplifier was proposed in this work for low conversion loss and high LO-RF isolation. The MMIC mixer module was fabricated using a MMIC chip and CPW-waveguide transitions. The fabricated mixer chip and module showed a low conversion loss of 6.3 dB and 9.5 dB, and LO-RF isolations of 24.8 and 30.4 dB at 94 GHz, respectively. This results are superior to those of previously W-band (75-110 GHz) MMIC mixers.

This paper presents a design for improvement of isolation characteristics by the inserted stub structure on ground plane of a handy terminal which is composed of a main antenna and a sub antenna covered LTE bandwidth. In order to compensate for a resonance length of proposed antenna and to realize a high isolation characteristic, a pair of stub was inserted and located on ground plane that currents from two antennas were converged. A simulated isolation characteristic of antenna without stub at the LTE class 13 band was about -5 dB, but its characteristics of proposed antenna with two stubs at uplink(777~787 MHz) and downlink(746~756 MHz) of the LTE class 13 band were about -12 dB and -15 dB, respectively. An average gain of a fabricated antenna with two stubs was observed about -2 dBi above and it showed good results with comparison of business condition that the average gain of commercial handy terminal has to appear -4 dBi above. The measured S-parameter characteristics and radiation patterns showed a reasonable agreement with the simulation results.

An experimental study was performed to evaluate seismic reduction performance and applicability of 3-dimensional floor isolation system to the main control room of nuclear power plant. A friction pendulum system(FPS) and air spring were designed and fabricated for 3-dimensional floor isolation system. Two kind of the partial experimental model of a main control room attached to the FPS and air spring were tested on the shaking table. The experimental model consisted of a control panel, a $2.5m{\times}2.5m$ access floor, four FPS and air springs. The artificial time histories based on the vertical and horizontal floor response spectrums(OBE, SSE) of the main control room were used as the earthquake input signals in the test. Compared to non-isolated system, the seismic response of experimental models using 3-dimensional floor isolation system were shown considerable seismic reduction performance.

In this paper, a method to increase the combining efficiency and isolation of the combiner, the core module of SSPA (solid state amplifier), was studied. Specifically, the isolation was secured by matching the common port and the isolation port in the waveguide combiner. The matching structure for matching is in the form of a circular disk and is engraved inside the waveguide combiner. The structure is very simple, so it is possible to secure stable performance. And this structure showed more than 60 times higher critical power performance compared to previous studies, confirming that it is suitable for high output. And by combining 1-stage T-junction and 2, 3 stage MagicT combiner, miniaturization was achieved and the combining efficiency was optimized by reducing the insertion loss. The fabricated waveguide coupler obtained an isolation of 16dB or more and a coupling efficiency of 86.2%.

Many isolated bridges are designed and constructed after the introduction of the seismic design. However those bridges designed in engineering fields have unnecessarily high serviceability limit and brittle failure mechanism, which do not satisfy the seismic design concept. Such design results are due to the excessive substructure stiffness of the conventional design method as well as the misunderstanding of the seismic design method. In this study an isolated bridge designed with the conventional design method is selected and the same bridge with steel bearings is modelled for the comparative seismic design. From the comparison, the seismic design procedures satisfying the required performance levels are provided for the two bridges. It is confirmed that the isolated bridge requires more complicated design procedure with trial and error methods and reanalyses but provides higher serviceability limit compared to the bridge with steel bearings. However, because the required serviceability limit can also be obtained by adjusting substructure stiffness, it is a resonable seismic design process that an isolated bridge is to be considered as an alternative design when the ductile failure mechanism is not obtained with a bridge with steel bearings.
